    - Gannon Kashiwa (Senior Product Manager at Universal Audio)
Apollo X also includes many new features that cater to the needs of audio industry professionals, including aswitchable +24dBu headroom control for out-of-the-box compatibility with professional mixing consoles and other high-end pro audio equipment, a front-panel Talkback mic, and up to 7.1 surround sound monitoring. I have a home studio here in the Philippines. At first its just my hobby until we produced a song that became viral and got millions of view. I think I need to upgrade my previous interface to this. We want our next songs to have a better sound. Bought a new fully spec'd 2018 15" MacBook Pro last summer and an Apollo x8 in October. Great investment. Seamless integration with my two UA Satellites and Apollo Twin Duo. Thunderbolt 2 and 3 work great together with no issues. The x8 is a very flexible and capable unit with lots of routing possibilities and great sound. Once you learns the ins and outs of the console, it's great to work with and very stable. Interfaces with ProTools 2018 perfectly. Plays nicely with my outboard compressors, EQ's and mic preamps. Headphone amps are underpowered for 600 ohm units but it's easy to integrate a proper outboard headphone amp.

    • @UniversalAudio

Thanks for the message Emmanuel. Clocking is such a personal and subjective thing, it's hard to speak in definitives about "best" and "better than". Ideally, an in person demo with your local pro audio dealer is the right call. But specs can tell part of the story. For example, the x16 has sub 10 pico seconds of jitter. Hope this helps!

This actually depends on if you're talking about the physical connector type or the protocol.
You can take a Thunderbolt 3 Connector (USB Type C) and use an adapter to plug it into an USB 3.0 Port (USB Type B), however the Apollo X range are using the Thunderbolt 3 Protocol. This protocol is only supported on the USB Type C and Mini DisplayPort input types.
So whilst you can physically connect from a Thunderbolt 3 Interface to an USB 3.0 Interface using adapters, the actual protocol in use (Thunderbolt 3) is not supported on the USB 3.0 interface, so it would not work.
If you are planning on connecting an Apollo X interface to your PC, you must have a Thunderbolt port on your motherboard or use a PCI-e card to add one. Ideally you'd want a Thunderbolt 3 port for maximum speed, but as explained in the video, Thunderbolt is backwards compatible.

great video thanks. now i have some questions. why are the plugins so high still being that you have some competitors that can really shut apollo down? first we have waves impact server with connect combo with waves plugin bundles like waves diamond bundle for $859.00 over 65 plugins and dsp server. with uad i can only get maybe 3 plugins for that price lol. then there is antelope audio discrete 8 and it comes with 50 plugins dsp. for 1395.00 and its usb for windows and thunderbolt and does the exact same thing as the apollo. uad thunderbolt 3 only works with mac or intel based windows pcs with thunderbolt support. your products wont work on amd based windows pcs. so is uad trying to put itself in a corner. im like did you guys do your homework? well i did. being that i have an amd based pc i could only get the apollo firewire. couldnt get the x6 unless i did a new computer build intel based setup so i could have thunderbolt 3 support and or headers. so then i checked out antelope discrete 8 and waves impact servers with the plugin bundles. i like your products i really do but someone their needs to do their homework because all these home studios are not going to buy this product. when they can buy the antelope discrete 8 with 50 plugins and waves server with over 65 plugins and u can use up to 400 plugins at once in the waves server. my apollo i can only maybe use 34 with this little classic bundle it came with lol. im going to buy the autotune plugin for 250 from uad so i can use in realtime and nothing else im buying the waves server connect combo with waves diamond bundle for 859.00 so i can have over 65 plugins and i can use up to 400 at once give or take. i dont know any other way to help uad but if you really read what i just wrote you will hurry up and go back to the drawing board and tbh the only reason i purchased the apollo was to use the autotune realtime plugin. so if you guys need my help call me or send me an application because when you all came out with this x version someone didnt do their homework about waves coming out with the new usb impact server early 2019 or antelope. but anyway nice unit. i like the talkback feature i dont like that thunderbolt 3 is only intel based windows pcs and macsespecially when people by windows pcs amd and or intel both pcs have ethernet and usb 3 but anyway thanks again

Dude just get the Apollo X6, you can record as many tracks as you need. it has 2 imputs and 6 outputs. if you need more imputs than get the Apollo X8 it has 4 imputs.

can you show how to link two apollos together... and routing the channels in the software?

    • @UniversalAudio
      @UniversalAudio  5 років тому +1

Hi Broose, our driver does all the work. You just connect them together with a Thunderbolt cable. The channels are automatically sent to your DAW via Core Audio and you can use Flex Routing to send them to the physical outputs of each unit. Hope this helps.

We do recommend leaving a space in the manual, but this is just a marketing video.

When are you going to sort us Live Sound People out? MADI over BNC or Cat6 or Dante would be a dream.

    • @noobpower96

Just buy a MADIface. It costs less, weighs less and handles a lot more inputs.

Mantis yes I know about MADI face by rme and I know the UA also do a 'live' model but I feel they are under par, when compared to the competition!

If there were any USB UA interfaces available for Mac a couple months ago I would've bought a new UA interace, your loss UA

Why USB if Thunderbolt is faster? Besides you can daisy chain the devices and even deliver up 100W of power.

A USB interface is a toy. Not real professional gear.

I have never watched so many marketing bullshits in any other videos, especially that you need 2 crystal oscillators to cover 2 different Sample rates :D There is no single system or OS in the world that can handle more than 1 sample rate
    :D :D :D
