Marner has been a ghost in every play off Series. I was mocked online as I said blow up this core the last several season , well here we are YET again. Mock me if u want but a core that is great in the regular season but does not have the grit or fortitude to fight like hell in the playoffs is NOT worth keeping.
Who takes them?
Do other teams give a good return for these individual prices?
Nobody wants perennial losers added to their team, which 10 million a year contracts.
@@mrillis9259retain salary on the final year of Marners contract, trade him for whatever you can get. The compensation won't be fair but it's better than getting nothing for him. He's going to demand a raise which the Leafs won't even entertain if they have any brains

@@mrillis9259 Plenty of teams haven't been to the playoffs in several seasons and could stand to lose like Toronto does for a short period, including getting those playoff home game ticket sales, as far as ownership's calculus.
@@mrillis9259 Lots of players excel after T.O. Carter Verhaeghe tearing it up in FLA, Hyman over 50 in a season? I think we could get a handsome price for Marns, plus, he's just entering his prime - he has longevity in his youth too. We need to get away from paying the "Toronto Tax" to other teams

Hate PK as a bruins fans, all these points he’s making is spot on and something I’ve been saying for the past couple days. I think keefe praising marchand was a bad move, keefe has been making horrible moves recently, I feel like lots will change for the leafs this offseason regardless of the outcome of their post season
keefe should have been fired last year even with winning a series he was lucky tavares scored that or he was gone. (Probably wouldn't have still) But even if the leafs win the series hes gotta be gone. He gets out coached in too many situations like our Power Play, after the 3rd PP I was like I'd rather it stay 5 on 5 🤣
Love hearing PK talk about the game just as much as i enjoyed seeing him play in Montreal. More personality than 99% of the league in both the player and media departments.

Not the worst coaching, but definitely not the best. He doesn't understand defensive strategies to support the goalie. I dunno, I don't hate him, but we need better

Over his last 5 playoffs, Mitch Marner has only one more goal than Tie Domi got in his last 5 playoffs.

Met PK before he was in the show, the guy knows hockey so well. Crazy he never won a cup he was an amazing player that knew what it took to win, just never was given the pieces.
Hopefully he does some coaching in the future.
When he was in Montreal during those bruins playoff series he was the best player on the ice hate saying that as a bruins fan but he was a complete beast

Splitting up the top guys on the PP is exactly what Boston did and it worked. They went like 0-20 on the PP until the last couple games when they split up Marchand, Pasta, McAvoy, Zacha and got a couple PPGs at the end of the regular season and it has been on fire against the Leafs (who, admittedly, don't have a great PK). Keefe absolutely needs to change up the lines add a few new looks if the Leafs want to have any chance in this series.
So many fans just go straight to 'Panic City'.

The leafs make every goalie look like a hall of fame candidate in the playoffs. Why? Because most wont get to the dirty areas to cause confusion for the oppositions goaltender
Keefe can be gone after this season, and throw Shanahan in that disposal aswell. Heck... for a fraction of the cost I could coach or manage this team 800% better.
Id be glad to be with the team for home games for $20 an hour to be their motivator and just tell them how it is and what they gotta do to. The hype guy
Good point about Marner under Babs. We all thought he was too mean but maybe that is what he needs...Keefe has been reluctant to call him out or be hard on him for whatever reason. Also about the point shot - Tree tried to sign Klingberg. Obviously didn't work out but they were aware of that problem - didn't fix it at the deadline and use that cap space though so it's still on them.
He was a kid no need to do what he did and embarrass a kid who just made it to the nhl marner needs to figure things out on his own plain and simple

I agree with PK re. the coach and Mitch but we shouldn't assume it's not happening off camera and i don't agree everything should be thrown out there for the media if he doesn't want to call out his player publicly, A it's a classy move, and B,there's probably a good reason for it.
Subban is on ESPN with Messier during period intermissions. TSN and SportsNet should do the same. What they have now is terrible.
Can tell he is not far removed from being a player. I agree about Keefe, but I'm not pinning it all on coaching like PK is.

They swapped the lines around. We were playing great, now i don't even recognize half the players names on the ice. They did the same thing last year. Changed everything around and we started losing and playing terrible before the playoffs. Don't know why they do it, but it's 2 years in a row and same results.
PK is dead on about the managerial and especially the coaching in TO. Been saying that for over five years. Having said that ...at least one of your core 4 have to go.

Joel Quenneville would be the perfect new Coach for the Leaf’s. He gets my vote. He can make a team perform. If The Leaf’s don’t start shutting Brad Marchand down, he will prevail. At least Pasternak is more humble about the way he plays. Marchand is THE worst example of a hockey captain that I have ever seen. He makes my skin crawl.

Bang on PK, there is no coaching on this team. They look exactly the same every playoff. This horrible passing bull, their second goal was an accident. I hope they go out 2 straight, because Florida is going to kill these guys. The same bad passes 1 stride away from the blue line, same crap. You can tell their is no direction because they wouldn’t make the same stupid plays if their was..painful to watch.
Marner scoring on a power play.....5-7 % chance. He never scores, more likely to assist on a goal.
Leafs Defenseman scoring on a power play. even less of a chance.
so the other team is only really concerned about 2 guys on the power play. Tavares is in front of the net, hes easy to keep track of. So its only Matthews left.

Domi has shown he plays amazing with Matthews. So what do they do.... put marner with Matthews and they fail. FFS, put Bertuzzi, Domi out there on the power play!!!
Something is going on that's keeping matthews from shooting domi and bert are not going to help that if they were then how come other than game 2 matthews has generated almost no offense the line hasnt changed
