I love trains, they are so cheap to operate and can be very fast to get our goods from the east coast to the west coast. Need fewer stops , and faster speeds and more gate crossings. Need to be able to go twice as fast as current speed limits. When will this change? Very soon.

There is very interesting information in this, but the presentation is duller than dishwasher. If the producers of this want to interest and inform more people, please get some trained video producers. Thank you.

I was told by a few that the "mainline" was a class 1. The chart and narrator say otherwise. Bad info out there. Still learning.

there are triple tracks in Nebraska Union Pacific

There is a yard in Nebraska that requires 3 or 4 towers because it is so long the curvature of the earth makes it so you can't see well from one end to the other even from up inside of a 40 foot tower. I believe that classification yard in North Platte NE is the largest such yard in the whole world.

@@Satchmoeddie well, if the horizon for a six foot man is just over three miles (taking in the curvature of the earth), at forty feet, that man could see for about twenty-one miles. Bailey Yard is only eight miles long. Whom ever told you the reason for Bailey Yard "requiring three or four towers because it is so long the curvature of the earth makes it so" is just, pardon the pun, flat out wrong.

What is the tolerance, in inches, allowed for the track width to vary? Such as 4’ 8 and 1/2 inches, plus or minus how much? 1/2 inch? 1 inch?

You're referring to gauge (distance between the two rails at a certain height below top). FRA defines gauge tolerance for each Class of track. Refer to Track Safety Standards Compliance Manual

Why do Americans call "ties" the device that holds the rails together everyone else calls them sleepers?
