Thanks for posting this video. I just finished surgery and radiation for breast cancer, and start tasking hormone therapy tomorrow. My medical oncologist wants me to take a bone density test in October. I've never had one. Seeing this vid makes me feel more comfortable!
I had a double lumpectomy and sentinel lymph node removal. I will be starting radiation treatments soon. I'm scheduled for a dexa test in two days. I will also be starting arimidex for ten years. How are you doing now? Any bad side effects from the meds? I'm concerned about all of it. Jennifer
Thank you! I agree fastest test ever done. Im getting my test done tomorrow. Now i know what the procedure requires. Thanks again. You are sweet and patient. Well explained. 🙏
I suffer from vertigo, panic attacks and claustrophobia. This seems to be the easiest scan I can tolerate. Hope my Doc's office offers this one. Some of the other scans are too much like CAT scans which I would not be able to tolerate.
@@9aspengold5 I was given a tranqualiser and I was quite content and watched the technician in a little mirror in an mri getting ready the contrast dye and I found it all so interesting! Without the meds I would like get me out of here!
@@9aspengold5 Some large cities offer stand up MRI's. I had brain MRI done in Charlotte NC because I have vertigo. It was the easiest MRI that I have ever had. I sat in a chair with a helmet type equipment on my head. I was able to watch TV with close captioned while they performed the scan. With some of the scans, they just have the person stand in a booth with the front of the booth open. It is an excellent procedure for people with claustrophobia.
I am scheduled for this test next week. I went through radiation last winter and this looks similar to the radiation except it is very low dose and the scanner moves up and down instead of around the person. This video has really put my mind to ease.
I had this done many times. Not a big deal but I have spinal fracture in the past and this time I will be taken to check very check bone scan results is softing of the bones.
It's good to have this video shown in UA-cam app... But not worth for deaf women who need CAPTIONS (OR SUBTITLES) to understand what they say. I hope they will realize how important to educate ANY women... Deaf or not.
If you watch the actions of the technologist, you can see how the body positioning is done with the pillow for the first part (spinal column) scan, and then with a different device to support the knees or have he knees lie flat on the X-ray table for the hip scan. Or you can ask the imaging center to provide the sign language interpreter to sign what the technologist says regarding the positioning steps before your DXA appt.
indi123 Hi I am a 45 year old male,I had this test after a spinal fracture,it revealed severe osteoporosis in my spine and osteopenia in my hips. I have been prescribed alendronic acid and calcium supplements This can slow down the progression and in some cases reverse.

This tech is full of it. She doesn’t show the patient being contorted. The test is extremely expensive. I will never undergo this test.
