It's fun to be able to modify the shape and watch the watermelons grow in your garden. Using square boxes to shape watermelons also protects watermelons from insects!
1. Choose a square box that is the right size for the size of the adult watermelon you want, with at least one side that can be opened to place or remove the watermelon. The melon will shape itself in the box. You can use a wooden mold but it has the limitation that the melon doesn't have a green color on the outside.
2. Choose a young (small) watermelon. Be sure to handle small berries and vines very carefully, as vines don't like to move.
3. Place the young melon in the box.fix with screws, dowels or drawstring
4. Water the watermelon as usual. Make sure it is getting enough light. Watering can damage canned melons.
5. Harvest. When the melon is in the desired shape and the fruit is ripe, it is time to harvest. Save it for a special occasion and surprise everyone with your square watermelon!

The technique is beautiful but trying to change the shape of the melon was no good idea. Nature will always win, man.

Brilliant, very creative. I wouldn't worry about the square bit, I think they would have been bigger and better if left to grow normally. Also, I was surprised to see they were yellow, only ever seen red watermelons.

The purpose is to pack all that nutrients of a big melon into something smaller I bet that's one potent watermelon

Should have used a more sturdy square case made from steel, then you'll get a nice square melons, unfortunately those casing need to be fabricated for this purpose, good job on using those plastic tupperwares, if only it can hold better shape
