You can factor out the numerator. That'll make the equation easier to solve. For some of these radical equations, you need to simplify the radicals to solve it.

Remove the root signs for (x^2 - 16)/(x + 4) = 100
((x + 4)(x - 4))/(x + 4) = 100
(x - 4) = 100
x = 104
Yes, pretty much the same way.

(√x² - 16)/(x+4) = 10
Square both sides,
(x²-16)/(x+4) = 100
x-4 = 100
x=104
