      Because load is connected to 2ndary side.. copper loss can be determined when a load is connected or terminals shorted.

    Don't use the word primary and secondary we can take output and input from any side of terminal.
    The correct name is low voltage side and high voltage side or winding

    you said in most of the part primary and secondary, where as for testing the term HV and LV should be used. why these test are done? is missing ie to find out losses, efficiency, VR, and circuit parameters. one thing i wish to know , why HV side is open not LV in OCT?

      Yes, Core loss or Iron loss are same and it the loss in the core of the transformer.
      There are two types of core or iron loss:
      1) eddy current loss
      2) Hysteresis loss.

    Bhai why we should take in SC test primary as HV & in OC secondary as LV

      In SC test rated current is applied. Suppose a 200kv/200v, 1000kva transformer,
      1) if u use primary as HV , then u have to apply rated HV current = (1000/200) = 5 amp only.
      2) but if u use primary as LV , then u have to apply rated LV current =(1000/200)*1000=5000 amp, very huge current.
      In both cases the results will the same, therefore method 1 is done.
