I did my gcse a few months back and can’t thank you enough for making these videos, anybody else just keep revising and you’ll thank yourself for it once they’re over
Mr Salles in incredible. My son was set to fail his English GCSE and he just couldn't get to grips with it. A few months before his GCSE I found Mr Salles. My son watched this in small sections each evening and unbelievably he passed his GCSE. My son then went on to study A'levels and he is now undertaking his second year of his degree. Without Mr salles my son would not be were he is now. Four years later we are still very grateful. Thank you Mr Salles your the best English teacher ever.
I love the subtle attack on Mr Bruff's videos at the beginning where he says that he isn't just going to teach us sample paragraphs 🤣🤣 Brutally savage!
I've been cramming for my mock and I've watched many model answers for An Inspector Calls but your channel was by far the best and most informative and really helpful to actually apply for my own essays. So, I wanted to just say thank you and your work is appreciated!
I struggled with the Inspector Calls questions - I graduated College but had to redo English in College, I've now passed English but I do regret not watching your videos when I should have 😅
Literally been binge watching all you videos and they have been really helpful especially ur model answers and grade 9 videos thank you so much for making these videos u are helping a lot of student!
I copied out this essay and printed it out to annotate it like I did with lady Macbeth a few months back and got me a grade 9. A rumour was going round that the question was gonna go be on Gerald for this term's mocks. Eeeeeeveryone was revising JUST Gerald but I still had this essay and had this gut feeling so I memorised it. GUESS WHAT. THE QUESTION 1 WAS ON ERIC AND QUESTION 2 ON SOCIAL CLASSESS AHAHAHAA. I COPIED OUT THIS ESSAY ALMOST WORD FOR WORD AND ADDED SOME OF MY OWN IDEAS I KNEEEWWW ITTTT. i didn't want it to be obvious so I did a quick plan at the end. I hope to God nobody did better than me (or the person who wrote this actually!). ANOTHER GRADE 9 ON ITS WAY AHAHA IM MOVING TO SET 1 NO QUESTIONS ASKED
How did this get 100% without any structure/form analysis? I thought it explicitly stated in the Mark scheme that analysis of language, structure and form are needed for level 6?
I have noticed that in your '100% In AQA' book you list the structure of 10 paragraphs of 'The Old Doll's House' but there are only 8 paragraphs in your book.
@@MrSallesTeachesEnglish Yes, thank you, it is really useful. In Chapter 3, I think it would be easier to follow if you had included the Goldilocks extract in the chapter. Thanks for book!
Hi. Do you think it’s fine if I just used few words from the essay such as ‘odium’ and the sentence ‘Eric’s renouncement of upper class system? Would that be fine in an exam?
@@MrSallesTeachesEnglish ok, thanks. Your videos are the reason I do well in my English exams! Just did my internal assessment on An Inspector Calls yesterday. Thank you!
Hi sir, Recently I have been handing in exam papers to my teachers quite frequently, my only worry is that my essay writing is not strong enough to access grades 8/9.I was just wondering , if I could potentially hand in some exam papers via email, until the exam appproaches. Kind regards, Hadiyah
I don't understand how the words were forcing the student to explore different interpretations. Yes the words themselves may be explorative but they're using them to explore the same idea???
But how is it developing or "evolving", when Eric makes that comment in Act 1? That's just him being dumb in a way, as he hasn't gone through any particular changes, and at this point of the play is still the "half shy" Eric. Please explain, I feel like I'm missing something
Kaiser Obi A) it’s evolving as he goes from being dumb to challenging the capitalist system B) as long as you have analysed quotes, you can make any assumptions whether that’s ‘evolving’ or transmogrifying. The examiner isn’t going to debate your points, they’re gonna look for the justified chain of reasoning in the form of quotes, effects, intentions and context. Hope that helps.

Sadly, this is a complaint against the way I see English being taught in many/most schools. I hope your school is different

There is structure analysis in the younger generation paragraph where he talks about Eric's renouncement. Hope that helps :)

especially on how to start strong in an essay
