I skied down that slope last year, and that was the hardest slope I’ve gone down. I’m a noob at skiing, I almost never get the chance to go, but the entire down I was crapping my pants and repeating “don’t die” under my breath lol.
Sorry man. I hate to be the douchebag, but I don’t like false advertising. not 72 mph, not even close. In all seriousness I’m pretty sure you mistook kmph for mph. I straight line Siberia ridge at Squaw on a full camber board to reach 62 mph. I have to crouch into a straight line the entire ridge to get over 60, if I stand for even a second I can’t get past 59. If you were standing tall like that, holding a selfie stick and skidding turns at 72 mph you would go flying into the great unknown. I literally bet my life it’s not over 55.
Check my channel. I regularly hit 55-60 on plain rocker boards and compete in downhill races. I ride mount hood. There’s a run called magic mile. It’s over a mile long of an icy wide open groomer. If you’re struggling to go fast, may I suggest waxing your board, getting a sintered or faster base, choosing an icy early morning groomer versus soft snow, and also gain some weight. Being over 200 pounds helps build velocity. And in this case of the video, the selfie stick helped break the wind barrier and make me more aerodynamic, like how fighter jets have pointy noses. I can share a few links of my other videos racing over 55 on the regular with smart phone and gopro gps tracking. I even got my pass pulled for going too fast at angel fire and was yelled at at vail last week for going too fast when I didn’t even think I was going fast
72mph on Upper Powderhorn... seems fishy. Buddy and I would consistantly hit low to mid 50s up there this year, practically straight lining it to the top of Bashful.
last year the coverage was extremely low so the grade of the slope hadnt filled in as much as it would on a good snow year, and little bit of icy snow with some fresh wax and base structure helped with friction. it was just a blip hitting 72. wasnt holding it the whole time.
@@TaylorPhase On second viewing it looks like you hit max speed a bit past where Bashful splits off is that correct? What app or device are you using to track your speed?
@@ajc1080 yeah I peaked at the speed right when the slope starts to flatten out. And gopro hero 7 black. The “ Quik” app for desktop was having issues saving a video displaying the GPS at the time of editing so I had to export just the raw file. Now the iPhone app lets you save the gps display on the video, then I export to my desktop for editing. Still a hassle but easier now. If you look at my newest video racing my friend, we were topping out at 54 mph. Terminal velocity on that run because of spring slush. I’d love to go back to Sierra and try to get a new gps clip on an icy morning if I could. Hopefully I can beat 75mph on the Palmer lift here on mount hood this spring if they do a good job grooming it. Usually it’s sloppy and chunky with overlapping cat grooming edges. It’s a black Diamond about a mile long. So we will see

I wanted to try and go back and go faster with the gps tracker but my gf was concerned about my safety and demanded I don’t
Yeah bud radical on the EZ's
You need to recalibrate that speedo.
i am snowboarding here next weekend so i am wondering if you like it?
Woooooo
Buen trabajo chavalon 👌
72?
what go pro stick is that ?
the official gopro el grande!
That was not 72 miles per hour bud lmao
It peaked at 72. Average was in the 60s during that 10-15 second run
