The pole that was attached to the front of the jeep was made because the Germans would tie rope to trees at night and jeep drivers and passengers would speed through it and get decapitated so the pole would cut the rope to avoid that
The blackout fenders give the car blackout lights, they’re special lights which are used when the military is trying to stay low profile; they have small slits at the front that only shine a small amount of light to illuminate the path but don’t spread it everywhere so as not to be seen, hence the covered lights with the little visors on the top. The visor headlights have a similar function. These are still used today. The stars on the front bumper indicate that a star ranking officer is in the vehicle. One star means brigadier general. Two means major general, three means Lieutenant General and so on. The Pole on the bumper was meant to prevent drivers and passengers from getting beheaded or hurt by ropes or wires tired to trees in forests. The rubber posts on the hood are so the windshield can be folded down, which is useful for shooting or if you’re in a situation where it will harm you due to breaking glass and whatnot. Very cool attention to detail by rockstar.
Good post I mainly knew about everything in it and its cool that many people can learn too, now you mentioned the folding windshield, I was sad too when I saw that there is no option in game to have it folded, would give it a better look in my opinion
For those who don’t know, the red plate on the front bumper with the silver stars indicates a flag officer is in the vehicle, with the silver eagle or number of stars corresponding to rank. The plate is there to basically to alert lower ranking servicemembers to prepare to salute the incoming vehicle. It’s still in practice to this day.
3:28 those pole bumpers were because enemy soldiers would put strings across roads high up enough that if someone would drive through them, it would chop off the driver and passengers heads or severely injure them. Kind of like a tripwire but higher up. Therefore armies put these on their jeeps to cut the wire.

@@deus_ex_machina_ I think it's too simple to blame it on economics as most people in the west buy technology based on its durability and high-end specs. This is seen in consumer tests everytime. Although I do agree that manufacturers of tech and machinery have decreased durability on products these days, but there's more than one reason for this. Materials are one, complexity is also one, but I do also think craftmanship and design has taken a nosedive. Even if the materials are exquisite and the complexity is fairly simple, I still had thing break down that would never have broken down back in the day. The pole on the front of the jeep was placed there to help with scout vehicles. They would often remove their front windscreen for weight reduction so German soldiers would place wires between trees on either side of a road to behead passengers and the driver, thus the bar was placed there to stop the wire
Pole bumper was created to rip very thin ropes that SS behind allied lines would set up between trees, basically they were almost invisible but if a car was going into it fast that line would hurt or cut of driver's head. At some point the allies realised this and started mounting this thing in front of the jeep so it would destroy the trap before it could hurt anyone inside the car.
3:27 explanation: this rough design was carried all the way from ww2 to the Vietnam war. It is needed because the Vietnamese would put piano strings across convoy paths of these Willys so that the soldiers inside were mortally wounded as it slit there throats that often killed them. This was needed because a lot of these Jeep’s didn’t have windscreens because they would glare and be able to be spotted so this bar was added to snap the piano strings and save the lives of the soldiers who were inside. 3:33 the pole was a defense from wires deployed by Germans. Usually soldiers were driving with the windscreen folded down so that they could aim and shoot better, so Germans were deploying these wires to cut their heads off. This pole was to cut the rope, I can send you an exact picture of how that looked in real life (on Discord for example)
Basically that bar is for when in the war, the Allies would often drive the Jeep’s with the windshield down (I can’t remember why) buy the bar would stop and break a wire that the Germans would put downs that would decapitate them when driving by fast enough.
My dad used to have one of these Jeep’s and I have a model of one, so I was so happy when they added it to the game, but they missed out on some awesome modifications, like they didn’t added the canvas top to the game, which if they were small details I wouldn’t mind, but the canvas too would be a great modification option for this Jeep, but overall they did very well with it.
The purpose of the that large pole on the front was used back when these would patrol trails in WWII, the pole would snap fishing line that was put across the trail by enemies. The line was put there to either decapitate the driver and passengers or severely harm them. Since the windshield could fold down, the pole was the only line of defense, to snap the line.
The bar on the fender was a wire cutter.... Germans were known for stretching wire across roads as they retreated, a passing GPW crew would be decapitated by the wire as they drove down the road. The canister was an extra air filter, primarily used in sandy conditions, especially by the British forces in North Africa
The bar on the front stops your head from getting cut off from German wire traps. They’d wrap the wire around trees so people’s heads would get severed when driving by.
The bar in front of the cap was made becuase at war mostly with japan they used to tie Lines in fishing rope or metal wire at head hight, the bar would break this rops preventing decapataion. A very smart and simple solution.
3:23 that bar is because the Japanese used to put wire across the road. If the willys jeep was driving along with the windshield down then the people in the jeep would be decapitated. So they put a bar on the front to prevent that.
For people wondering about the bar bumper they had those because in the jungle of Vietnam they put wire traps at neck height to decapitate soldiers they put the bar there to cut the thin metal wires
That bar on the front is for breaking wires set up to cut the drivers head off. This is due to how most people drived with the windshield down so the sunlight didnt reflect off giving away their positions.
the Jeep’s lack of a windshield was soon exploited by German soldiers. They would tie strong wire between trees at neck height between trees and this could often result in an injury or decapitation of anyone driving by. To counter this deadly trap, Jeeps were equipped with poles welded to the front which were strong enough to break the wires.
The pole bar was so whilst driving the driver, and the passengers wouldn’t get mangled by a trip wire. This was a common booby trap in WW2 and the Vietnam war. It would basically decapitate your head off your own body. It would be at head level between two trees, and the bar would break the wire.
See for your self. Not much normal cars. Theres a itali car may a new fast car, and finally a go cart, mmmm🤔 a ramp lorry, military truck . Wait i saw some one already made a video
That bar is a barbed wire pole. Since you can put the window down in real life, the germans would place thin iron strings at head level to decapitate the persons driving the jeep. The allied soldiers used this bar to break the string before it would reach their necks
Pretty sure the blackout lights are for reconnaissance. You'd put the windshield down and turn off your headlights and activate the blackout lights. They'd put out this small amount of light and that would be enough to get around.
The pole on the bumper was to protect and cut wire from the middle of the road when driving. They had it because when the German troops put wire in the middle of the road, the wire was used to stop the personnel in the jeeps to stop driving and since the windshield could fold down, it was an easy target. So in the later parts of the war, the Americans started to put the pole on the bumper to help stop the troops from getting decapitated.
The pole is for secret wires. They, most of the time, were lethal to the drivers. The wires were tied to two trees near the roud. The wires were capable to decapitate the drivers heads. The pole is use to break the wire while driving the Jeep.
3:27 The pole bumper. In WWII, the Axis powers used to take a piano string and two trees. What they would do, is they would tie the piano string between the trees to behead the Jeep drivers while at the wheel. So, the allies put the poles on some models so the pole would catch the strings.
The bar on the front was for when the Americans would drive in the jungles of japan. The Japanese would use wire at head level tied to trees and when the Americans would drive by the persons head would be cut off from the wire. So the pole in front was made to snap the wire
The pole bar bumper was made I think during the battle of the bulge because Germans kept putting wires at head level between trees and when Americans in Jeep’s drove through the wires they got killed. The bar breaks the wire and protects the occupants
The pull bumper is a wire catcher. The Germans used to stretch wires across streets and country roads to kill and or injure allied troops driving through. Additionally, Medics regularly used them for the Morphine Drip bags when transporting wounded.
The pole bars were actually used to make sure the drivers were protected from wires because the Germans would put strong wires across roads and tie them to trees so when a vehicle drove by the driver’s necks would get caught by it and they’d pretty much get decapitated because the Jeep’s back then didn’t have windshields
That bar is ment for cutting trip wire ,because the enemies used to put wire around the neck level to cut the soldiers necks and that bar is used to cut the wire
Lots of times soldiers would drive with the windshield folded down, so German soldiers put hard to see wires across roads at head height. So when a jeep would come bouncing down the road, those in it would be killed. So they put that par on the front bumper so it would snap the lines
Im sure someone else pointed this out, but Jeep was a nicknamed given to various multipurpose/general purpose vehicles. Jeep sort of sounds like a shortened form of General Purpose.
Few things Id like to add. Yes ford and willy overland where the main producers for the original jeep. But funny enough the ford ones where noticably worse. Cost more, less power, broke more offten, and just didn't operate as well. Also the pole (which when I saw it made me grin wide and so glad they actually added this reference) It was a real modification many jeeps used to get especially for scouts. See because when you are riding around you didnt want to give away your position so the glass windows where very often put down while driving to prevent glass glare. Well the Germans learned of this and begain to string a wire between trees across roadways. And it was at just the right hight that it would behead the occupants of the jeep. So at some point the americans strapped a pole to the front bumper it snapping the wire while they drive. Cool lite bit of history. Can't wait to buy this cool little GP
The bar is for hang lines in Vietnam they would hang lines in front of trails and when the armacan would drive by with the jeep it would chop there head off so the bar is to prevent that

There should be another version with a mg on the back
The bar on the front stops your head from getting cut off from German wire traps. They’d wrap the wire around trees so people’s heads would get severed when driving by.
My great grandfather would drive the officer's in ww2 in one of these he even met a general
Sounds fake
The bar in front of the cap was made becuase at war mostly with japan they used to tie Lines in fishing rope or metal wire at head hight, the bar would break this rops preventing decapataion. A very smart and simple solution.
When are we getting that free vehicle from the heist challenge? I thought it would be today
Between friday and sunday
@@kingm8085 ofc
Its a go kart
3:23 that bar is because the Japanese used to put wire across the road. If the willys jeep was driving along with the windshield down then the people in the jeep would be decapitated. So they put a bar on the front to prevent that.
Annndddd I just scrolled down to read the comments and saw this 900 times.
The GP was "general purpose" and GP eventually became "Jeep"
For people wondering about the bar bumper they had those because in the jungle of Vietnam they put wire traps at neck height to decapitate soldiers they put the bar there to cut the thin metal wires
They were first used in WW2.
Friend: hey which car did you buy?
Me: Da Winky
That bar on the front is for breaking wires set up to cut the drivers head off. This is due to how most people drived with the windshield down so the sunlight didnt reflect off giving away their positions.
I want to know the weekly deals
It doesn’t change until Thursday I don’t think
Won't be deals till next week
They have been changed, the new podium vehicle is the Huayra
@@arturo_renteria I see, thank you
the Jeep’s lack of a windshield was soon exploited by German soldiers. They would tie strong wire between trees at neck height between trees and this could often result in an injury or decapitation of anyone driving by. To counter this deadly trap, Jeeps were equipped with poles welded to the front which were strong enough to break the wires.
Damn im early
The pole bar was so whilst driving the driver, and the passengers wouldn’t get mangled by a trip wire. This was a common booby trap in WW2 and the Vietnam war. It would basically decapitate your head off your own body. It would be at head level between two trees, and the bar would break the wire.

@@thatonenigeriansformula My bad. No one ever told me about the issue.
The pole option on the front bumper, these poles where used in japan/ vietnam for wire traps because they drove alot with the windows down
The bar on the front was for when the Americans would drive in the jungles of japan.
I love that they used the historic accuracy of Ford building these
The pole bars were actually used to make sure the drivers were protected from wires because the Germans would put strong wires across roads and tie them to trees so when a vehicle drove by the driver’s necks would get caught by it and they’d pretty much get decapitated because the Jeep’s back then didn’t have windshields
That bar is ment for cutting trip wire ,because the enemies used to put wire around the neck level to cut the soldiers necks and that bar is used to cut the wire
The way you can tell its a ford is to look at the body parts each one will have a ford stamp on it
Lots of times soldiers would drive with the windshield folded down, so German soldiers put hard to see wires across roads at head height.
Also the pole (which when I saw it made me grin wide and so glad they actually added this reference)
It was a real modification many jeeps used to get especially for scouts.
I have one of these in real life. The gta version definitely does it justice, even down to the stickers on the passenger side. Great addition
The bar is for hang lines in Vietnam they would hang lines in front of trails and when the armacan would drive by with the jeep it would chop there head off so the bar is to prevent that
3:25 its a wire cutter, used to save the driver and passengers heads when the enemy mounted wires over roads in neck height
