- I have really been wanting a pink distressed jacket and decided to make one for myself! I wanted to challenge myself by using fabric dye since I have only used dye once before. I originally wanted it to be light pink, but once the jacket was in the dye bath I wanted to see how bright I could get it, haha. Totally love the way it turned out! Hope you guys enjoy ♥

If this was done with more dye and no salt would a deep red effect take place? What about with a thicker material? I have a wrangler denim jacket and I think dying it blood red would look cool.
check out Rit Dye's website, they have a page where they tell you what dyes to mix to get a specific color! they have a TON of colors to choose from!!! i'm sure you can find the exact deep red that you're looking for on there 😉 since your jacket is thicker material, you may need to use more dye so it can be dyed evenly 😁 hope this info helps!

this is a really good video. i just want to know, can I achieve a much more lighter shade of this by applying more salt? dont get me wrong I love the color, but im also curious about making it pastel?
if you want a lighter shade i would say just leave it in the dye bath for less time.

honestly i'm not exactly sure. the other jacket might not get dyed as much because when i pulled this jacket out, the water falling from it was clear so i'm assuming all of the dyed was absorbed into the fabric. i could be wrong though :)

how many sachet should i use if im going to dye a white overall pants? and what will happen if i dont add salt?
not exactly sure how many packets of dye you should use, but the label on the dye usually says how many should be used. as for the salt, i don't think you would have any issues if you don't use any.
Any chance you know if the color is the same as the brandy bubble gum pink pants
so i just looked them up and those do look similar to this color, but they seem like a more muted/faded version if that makes any sense? 😌 i would say just leave them a little less time in the dye bath to get the more faded look. after seeing the Brandy ones, i think i want to dye some joggers this color now lol.
how did you stop the stitching from changing colour ?
that wasn't intentional at all lol. i think the thread was just made of polyester or something so it didn't absorb the dye.

look at the care tag and make sure it's a natural fiber like cotton, silk, linen, etc. if it's polyester it won't work ! hope this helps 😁

yes, the less you leave it in the dye the lighter it will be 😉

if i wanted mine to come out a scarlet red or darker red would i leave it for 60 minutes ? let me know
if you can't find the exact dye color that you want, Rit dye usually has guides online on what dye colors to mix so you can get a specific color. but if you just use a regular red dye, it's just gonna come out red. try to get the dye close to the color that you want. the longer you leave it the more true the color will be, but you also have to consider the fabric you're using. for example, 100% cotton will absorb the dye the best.
Will this work with light blue denim
the pink won't be as vibrant. it's better to work with a white base. if your denim is light blue i would say just bleach it 🙂

the color won't be as bright since you're working with a jacket that's already blue. you can always bleach your jacket to get it to be white 🙂

every time you wash it does the dye not come out because i wanna try this with pants
i always wash hand-dyed items separately because the first few washes the excess dye seems to come out. this doesn't mean the garment loses it's color.

follow the same steps, but instead of using a pink dye get red powder dye 🙂

it won't look weird, but the fabric might be weaker because of the dye so the thread might rip easier.

Can i make it pink with a denim jacket?
if the jacket is blue, make sure to bleach it beforehand. the blue denim won't absorb the dye well enough 😊

hi, i use Soilove Soil-Stain Remover and i feel like it does a good job at removing stains. another good one is Zote soap ! just rub the stain with it and then throw it in the washer. hope this helps 😊

i'm not sure if it'll work or not. if it's darker than the dye, then it probably won't.

i think the only way to get a brighter pink is to get dye specifically made for neon colors.

this one is called "Petal Pink". for a baby pink i would suggest getting a pink dye and leaving the gloves for less than half the time it says in the instructions so it can be a light color instead of what the dye advertises. hope this helps 🙂

yes or else the dye won't be as noticeable. if you have a blue jacket, just bleach it beforehand 😉
