    Great video!! Precise and right to the point. It did make me so nervous watching you see over your needles, but you know what you’re doing 😊

      It can break the tip off your sewing machine needle, this has happened to me. I have heard that bit of needle can fall into your machine and damage it, or shoot up into your eye. Not sure if these are urban legends but after breaking a couple needles I wont chance it

    Is sewing right over the top of the needles not risky as in like breaking a needle if the needle hits the pin? Great video

    • @SewingLara
      @SewingLara  5 років тому

      Hi, well theoretically, you could break the needle. It happens to me sometimes - like in 1 of 20-30 cases. If you wanna do the safe version, you can always pull the pins out before the needle gets near while sewing. From my experience, it sometimes has to do something with the fabric and also, the angle. 90° is perfect, but of course, should the needle hit the pin, chances are it would break. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching :)

      Thanks very kindly for your info and reply. I guess one in 20/30 odds is not bad and needles are cheap to buy.

      No problem! The only issue could be if a needle would break and the pointed end would fly away, it could get into an eye, or get stuck in the machine. So it is probably a better idea to pull the needles out anyway.

      That is why I would wear safety glasses and a Helmet while sewing.

    Ugh the sewing over pins is freaking me out

    • @SewingLara

      Haha, I know, it looks rather scary! You can always pull the pins out before the needle reaches the place if that feels better to you. Or use clips. Whatever makes you feel more comfortable. Thanks for watching, Emily!
