The points will be open a surprisingly long time before you see them opening. Trap a piece of cigarette paper between them and pull on it very gently. The points will let it go just as they begin to open.
Success! Altered the tappets - 30 thou shim metal. Timing on flywheel needs final adjustment, but she runs, and if I play with the governor setting, which isn't connected up yet, the thing tries to take off, haha! First run in more than 30 years, and perhaps more. Thanks for your help, I'd buy you a Guinness if I lived closer, LOL. Trying to get the run video on UA-cam soon.
