He didn't just want fun. If you read about the interview after he says that Keegan was putting no effort into making conversation at all and therefore was nervous and stuck for things to talk about so just ended up making cringe worthy jokes. Felt sorry for him tbh

I'm so happy with the comments section here! I thought everybody would think the younger guy's too awkward and trying too hard. He just comes across as really friendly and easy to strike up a conversation with. I'd be glad to go on a date with him!
The best relationships are with someone who loves to communicate. You can talk about anything to each other. And act goofy too.

I would’ve been so nervous having a date with Keegan because I would’ve really wanted it to work out. It’s wonderful to see him so happy and in a wonderful relationship in 2023 on social media.
Until very 'recently' for Keegan he was a "straight" man, combined with Rugby player and being heavily closeted. None of these things are really known for their communication skills. I don't think Keegan comes across dull. I think he is what he is. A bloke. And understandably a bit guarded. Blokes only share their inner person once they get to know you. And his face when the other guy said pineapple. I bet he's had guys THROWING themselves at him since he's come out, (and taken alot of them up on it too I bet) But he hasn't "met" anyone. On this date he's not dull, he's just "Oh right, this again. I'm here looking for someone and you're straight to my junk." Too bad. But I'm sure he'll find someone kind and amazing.

You just read him like a book. The pineapple comment was off putting. It made that little weasel sound that he just wants to hit it and quit it. His laugh is irritating. He ain't in it for the long haul.

I have been on dates with shy really quiet guys and the dates are always awkward as hell. It leave me to fill the silence making me talk and talk and talk. After a date I then feel guilty about dominating the conversation and wonder if the other guy felt I was dominating the date. I went out on a second date with the same quiet guy and intentionally remained silent. That date was a disaster and there was no third date.
I don't think it's fair to put every shy person in a box and think that they are all always quiet. Also, not all guys who are shy on a first or second date are introverted or uninterested (like Keegan here). There are also guys who are very, very shy at first, but after a while, when they get more comfortable, they can be very talkative. It's just a fear a lot of people have in public when there is nobody they know better. Maybe you should gain their trust first, make a few phone calls and meet them at a smaller bar on a first date. I think it's worth it cause still waters can run deep. I've had a few dates with really shy guys and most of them were actually talkative and bubbly after a while.
The non-talkative guy has the personality of a wet noodle. I am sure that the younger dude can get someone much more interesting.

Keegan being respectful enough to say No first after being asked was nice to see. 9/10 times the person who does the rejecting seems to get off by saying “you answer first” and that’s so rude. At least he saved him that rejection and allowed it to become a mutual No.

I'm sure Keegan is an interesting guy. That's why you ask questions. You figure out what he's into and what he's not and ask follow up questions based on his answers. Everyone is interesting, you just have to find a way to get them talking about what matters to them. The quietest and seemingly uninteresting people are almost always the more interesting people imo.

Just got out of a date where the guy was so awkward with me. I have been told I have the “gift of gab” and can usually make people feel pretty comfortable quickly. Unfortunately, me asking him questions he felt like I was putting him on the spot, then I would try to switch the conversation about interests and he wasn’t commenting, I even would bring the conversation to myself just seeing if maybe he would feel more comfortable joining in with that. NOPE. Honestly it’s one thing to be shy, but people need to know how to hold conversations and at least make an effort to get to know someone out of courtesy. Extroverts and talkative people hate small talk just like any other person- we need feedback and responses like anyone else.

An American, here. I had to listen closely to some of it due to the thick accents.
jayson biggs I'm American and I can relate a few years ago I'd really have to listen super closely to make out what they were saying but now since Ive watch a lot of U.K. reality shows and TV shows like Geordie Shore, Towie, Made and Chelsea, and the Valleys for years now I understand everything perfectly as if they're speaking in a American English dialect. I'm so good now I can even pinpoint where people are from in the U.K. based their dialect and how they talk.

Altiora Peto That's painting with a broad brush. There are so many regional American accents that we often can't understand each other. A New York accent is very thick and prominent, as well as a Boston/New England accent. The American South speak a language entirely their own; I can barely understand a word of that drawl! My friends from around the world practice their English by copying me; I implore them to ignore me because I have a God-awful accent from the Bronx!

Everyone is bashing the less talkative guy and sticking up for the talkative guy. It seemed like the nervous chatty guy had said some uncomforatble comments. The pineapple (that's about the taste of his sperm). He was awkwardly laughing constantly. And he had to point out that there legs were close. And smirk about it. If that was a lad saying that to a small shy girl, you'd be like how odd and uncomfortable of him to say those things to her. It's hard to chat to people who laugh awkwardly, it can make you feel uncomfortable and it can make it hard for conversation to flow

It's called nervous chattering and nervous laughing. The other dude caused it by making every thing an argument of "i dont like this" imposing his world onto the other guy. Sooo yeah. The so called silly dude was at least trying. The other guy was just negating things with his responses that just nihilized anything the nicer lad was trying to do. The other dude didnt try to add to the conversation and get to know him a bit. Everything began to be all about the pineapple and trying to shut up the other dude. Why is the rude arsewhipe rewarded and the kinder lad is considered the non desirable?

What I’ve learned from reading the comments on a bunch of First Dates videos: I’m attracted to men with no personality, and irritated by men with fun personalities. I like the quiet guys.
