This song makes me more proud to be what I am. The public doesn't realize how much we appreciate be recognized for who we are. People who make sacrifices and live for the honor and saving a persons life.
Your right. It's the same for volunteer firefighters. It's only the career ones that get most of the credit. I don't understand it. I have the same damn training as then I see the same stuff as them, I am on call every minute of every day, I hardly make any money. Why do they get all the fucking credit?!
AJ Calacci thank you for your service from a career firefighter. It's not about credit though, we all know going into this job that the only pat on the back we're gonna get is from ourselves and maybe our brothers, but no matter what we do in the eyes of the public we didn't do enough, but that should be expected. You'll never here anything but respect from us career firefighters because your part of the brotherhood, in fact volunteers makeup 70% of the brotherhood.
My son stands proud to be an EMT for 24 years, was there when the towers went down and is as fine a human being as anyone could ever be, I am so damn proud of him.... he is dedicated and loves saving lives…. all heart, God bless him always, and all his fellow EMT's and Paramedics..
I still see the faces 5 years after leaving ems. 12 years changes a person. even my wife says I'm a different man than she married. but we do what we do because we love helping others.
I had the privilege of serving EMS a little over 20 yrs. I worked with some of the most absolutely extraordinary Critical Care Paramedics in Oklahoma & I miss them, my work & my truck every single day. I can still hear the sirens miles before anyone around me. I had never heard this song before today but it so took me back. I was injured Labor Day weekend 2007 & not a day goes by that I don't think about how much I loved my work. The good & the bad. No worse feeling in the world than to not be able to do anything & lose a life, but no better feeling in the world than to be able to do everything you're capable of & save one! One thing you do learn out there that no one tells you though, is ultimately, it's God's will. I'm just happy He allowed me to touch so many lives & allowed so many lives to touch me.

As a Paramedic in Sin City for 16 years and Marine Corps Vet who has seen more than his fair share of mankind's inhumanities, this struck something deep inside me. Totally relate to the lyric's and I'm glad someone brought this song to my attention. Thank you for sharing.................
Trust me- while I was a ground medic only 1 year - then critical care/flight medic, YOU EMTs are the rocks we count on! Isn't the hardest part when you work a nightmare call it seems to be ALWAYS within 30 minutes another call goes down for you? And if you aren't blessed with ability to be toned out 3:30 am just after you've had first sleep in 24 hours- you can[t do this job; have you considered, btw, going on and becoming a paramedic?
Been a Paramedic for 13 years, on the Ambulance for 18. I have listened to this song I do not know how many times. The most common place is in the shower, alone, with a beer, so my family can't hear me cry. I have ran all these calls and will continue too. I am a proud Paramedic. I love when I can make a difference. It is worth every scar, self doubt, and nightmare.

As someone who has had their ass saved by EMS many, many times because of my epilepsy, thank you folks. That's not enough, but it's all I can say, because I can't give you guys the world. I wish I could.

12 years then it was all gone......Messed my back up but I still run "those" calls every night...... Maybe one day I'll "win".. To those still on the job please take care of yourself and your partner! You never know when the next call will be your last. God speed!
This has been my favorite song since my mom became a medic and it makes me proud of every medic there is and thank you every medic and any first responders!!you guys are life savors.
Amazing song. Saving lives is all I know. Losing is the hardest part. You never get used to the part of losing. Angel of death you have beat me a few times but I know in my heart I've beaten you every time I can. Until my last breath. Until my last heart beat I'm going to fight to win...
In case anyone was looking for the lyrics: The angel of Death came again today Took some poor souls life away. I raced as fast as I could To get there by his side But that angel swept him away Yes that angel swept him away And I fly down the highway Got no time to kill Only the Lord knows if we will win It′s a race against the clock The golden hour is all he's got There′s a desperation in the cool night wind Can't let that angel win again Stop to grab a quick bite to eat And once again they're calling me She′s tired of life and she took some pills Her husband left and her momma died No one left to stand by her side These lonely nights leave a bitter chill No one else knows how she feels And I fly down the highway Got no time to kill And only the Lord knows if we will win It′s a race against the clock The golden hour is all she's got There′s a desperation in the cool night wind Can't let that angel win again Woke up at 2 o′clock Can't stop now don′t have time to walk She ran her car off a bridge Wiped the tears out of her eyes As she tells her baby goodbye Another young soul was lost today Why did she have to die this way I fly down the highway Got no time to kill Only the Lord knows if we will win It's a race against the clock The golden hour is all she's got There′s desperation in the cool night wind Can′t let that angel win again Can't let that angel win again The angel of Death came again today Took some poor souls life away
Listening to this in 2020. Ran a fatal MVC, worst I've seen in 4 years. Couldn't save him, died in front of me. This song helps me cope. Youre doing God's work.
Thank You for your Service, i'm Paramedic in roleplay game, but it's only game, but i like to safe lives in games, but really thank you for your service.
Using the beginning quote when I do my Senior Spotlight Solo in my school's spring concert, I'm not singing this song, I'm actually singing "Your Worst Day" which was written by a paramedic's wife. I'm gonna see if I can dedicate the song to the EMS providers in the three towns that attend the small school. I will mostly dedicate it to my family and our close friends though, they have changed my view of the world since before I was old enough to understand what was going on. To All those who have to battle the Angel of Death for their patients, Thank you and keep changing the views of those who think you are nothing but Ambulance Drivers, because you are all so much more than that. Keep Changing Lives, Keep Changing Views, Keep Changing The World.

25 years of paramedicine here. LA and Riverside Counties. Seen a lot. Still haven't seen it all. Songs like this are nice to get you through. I've always liked "running out of time" by Ozzy. I was wn EMT for 15 years before my health turned. I would work 96 to 120 hours a week, when I hung it up I loved it just as much as my first day. I miss it everyday. even 9 years later i miss it. It was a calling for me. Never asked to be recognized. Just wanted to do my job.
Here are the lyrics in case if someone was looking for them. If i have written something wrong in some place, please correct me. I'm Polish and didn't understood 100% of song when i listened to it for first time {This song was recorded by Medics this is what we see and live with on our every day-to-day So the next time you see an ambulance Before you call us 'ambulance drivers' Remember, that anybody can be an ambulance driver But it takes a special person to be a Medic} Angel of death came again today Took some poor soul's life away I'd raced as fast as I could To get there by his side But that Angel swept him away Yes that Angel swept him away And I’m flyin’ down that highway Got no time to kill Only the Lord knows if we’ll win It’s a race against the clock The Golden Hour is all he’s got There’s desperation and a cool night wind Can’t let that Angel win again Stop to grab a quick bite to eat Once again they’re calling me She’s tired of life and she took some pills Her husband left and her momma died There's no one left to stand by her side These lonely nights leave a bitter chill No one else knows how she feels And I’m flyin’ down that highway Got no time to kill Only the Lord knows if we’ll win It’s a race against the clock The Golden Hour is all she’s got There’s desperation and a cool night wind Can’t let that Angel win again Woke up at two o’clock Can’t stop now, don’t have time to walk She ran her car off of the bridge I wipe the tears out of her eyes As she tells her baby “goodbye” Another young soul was lost today Why did she had to die this way?! I’m currently in EMT school and have been doing clinicals. I’ve had a couple of patients who have made me think of this song. Fortunately, they made it...
Thank you so very much for the tribute. Just so you know though, it’s spelled Sequoyah. It’s the name of the county in Oklahoma where we wrote the song. It’s also the name of the man who wrote the Cherokee syllabary.
I remember these days they told me to not come back because I couldn’t handle it anymore and I still think about it I’d give my self for everyone I could I mean that ! If god ever needs someone to give him self for the world I’ll go and I mean that do much I wanna let the lord win
same here. wish I had. the tabs for this song. But 12 years on a unit with 5 years since my last call. I still drive by some location and it just brings the memories back. Stomach drops and....
Shout out to my fellow Ditch Docs. Best job in the world. Strength & Honor. And please, if you still hear the sirens and hear the screams long after your call, please, please, hit the mic and call for backup. We are all here, we few, we Band of Brothers.

In case anyone was looking for the lyrics:
The angel of Death came again today Took some poor souls life away.
I raced as fast as I could To get there by his side
But that angel swept him away
Yes that angel swept him away
And I fly down the highway
Got no time to kill
Only the Lord knows if we will win
It′s a race against the clock
The golden hour is all he's got
There′s a desperation in the cool night wind
Can't let that angel win again
Stop to grab a quick bite to eat
And once again they're calling me She′s tired of life and she took some pills
Her husband left and her momma died
No one left to stand by her side
These lonely nights leave a bitter chill No one else knows how she feels
And I fly down the highway
Got no time to kill
And only the Lord knows if we will win It′s a race against the clock
The golden hour is all she's got There′s a desperation in the cool night wind
Can't let that angel win again
Woke up at 2 o′clock
Can't stop now don′t have time to walk She ran her car off a bridge
Wiped the tears out of her eyes
As she tells her baby goodbye Another young soul was lost today Why did she have to die this way
I fly down the highway
Got no time to kill
Only the Lord knows if we will win
It's a race against the clock
The golden hour is all she's got There′s desperation in the cool night wind
Can′t let that angel win again
Can't let that angel win again
The angel of Death came again today Took some poor souls life away

I was wn EMT for 15 years before my health turned. I would work 96 to 120 hours a week, when I hung it up I loved it just as much as my first day. I miss it everyday. even 9 years later i miss it. It was a calling for me. Never asked to be recognized. Just wanted to do my job.
I fell in love with this song the very first time I heard it. Would love to hear more from Sequoia
Here are the lyrics in case if someone was looking for them. If i have written something wrong in some place, please correct me. I'm Polish and didn't understood 100% of song when i listened to it for first time
{This song was recorded by Medics
this is what we see and live with
on our every day-to-day
So the next time you see an ambulance
Before you call us 'ambulance drivers'
Remember, that anybody can be an ambulance driver
But it takes a special person to be a Medic}
Angel of death came again today
Took some poor soul's life away
I'd raced as fast as I could
To get there by his side
But that Angel swept him away
Yes that Angel swept him away
And I’m flyin’ down that highway
Got no time to kill
Only the Lord knows if we’ll win
It’s a race against the clock
The Golden Hour is all he’s got
There’s desperation and a cool night wind
Can’t let that Angel win again
Stop to grab a quick bite to eat
Once again they’re calling me
She’s tired of life and she took some pills
Her husband left and her momma died
There's no one left to stand by her side
These lonely nights leave a bitter chill
No one else knows how she feels
And I’m flyin’ down that highway
Got no time to kill
Only the Lord knows if we’ll win
It’s a race against the clock
The Golden Hour is all she’s got
There’s desperation and a cool night wind
Can’t let that Angel win again
Woke up at two o’clock
Can’t stop now, don’t have time to walk
She ran her car off of the bridge
I wipe the tears out of her eyes
As she tells her baby “goodbye”
Another young soul was lost today
Why did she had to die this way?!
And I’m flyin’ down that highway
Got no time to kill
Only the Lord knows if we’ll win
It’s a race against the clock
The Golden Hour is all she’s got
There’s desperation and cool night wind
Can’t let that Angel win again
Can’t let that Angel win again...
Angel of death came again today...
Took some poor soul's life...
...away...

Thank you so very much for the tribute. Just so you know though, it’s spelled Sequoyah. It’s the name of the county in Oklahoma where we wrote the song. It’s also the name of the man who wrote the Cherokee syllabary.
Thank you for letting me know. I will fix the spelling. The song was and is an inspiration to me. I hope you and the band are well and safe.
I remember these days they told me to not come back because I couldn’t handle it anymore and I still think about it I’d give my self for everyone I could I mean that ! If god ever needs someone to give him self for the world I’ll go and I mean that do much I wanna let the lord win

I'll never understand why I couldn't save all of them. But I will never stop trying. And every one that I lose will hurt. But every one that I save is a victory that I won't forget.

I think of all those that went before their time, those that I couldn't get back. But the hope that the next one I can save keeps me going.
I am Paramedic for 25 years of busy EMS ground 911 and HEMS experience and this song is nice to hear. Our profession is unappreciated and not understood by many. But , we are there to help many in their misfortune and most difficult times. Thanks for making such a nice song . Can you also make video of this song and your band ? Thanks again.
