Whether you are a First Responder, Basic, Intermediate, or Paramedic you play a vital role. As long as the patient gets the help they need, who cares who gets the credit. We're all on the same team.
Thanks for all of the kind words about this song. Will Pope and I wrote this song back in 2006 I think. Once again I would like to say, when I reference medics in the song, I am referring to anyone who holds a NREMT license. Not just Paramedics. I was an intermediate when I co wrote the song. And God knows without my basic partners I would be up sh*t creek most of the time. Thanks again for all of the kind words.
when its 4am, you forgot the last time you ate because you have been running all shift, your returning back to quarters from a pretty bad mva for a shift change at 5 while listening to this song..and you think about it...was it worth it??? was it???....and the answer is Yes, Hell Yes. Great songs. to all other ems and FF personnel, be safe...and see you at the big one
Every time I hear this song, I cry because of my dad. He is a former marine and is a firefighter and emt. And every time he leaves for work or a call for the fire department I would always get scared something would happen and he wouldn't be able to make it back home again. I am always grateful for all the emt's, military, police, fire fighters, nurses/doctors, etc. for everything they have done for us.
I had a trauma Pt in The back With me last week, Im A EMT-B Student. I was holding her hand While she was Crying. Thank Good The Angle of death didn't show up. I'm learning this is a passion. its not a job. I wish every one could here this song, Its amazing, You his it on the head brother.
this made me cry, being a Paramedic and all, thinking of how many lives that I let go becuase they bled out before we could get there in time,or didnt have the exact location, and couldnt find them intil their last breath, but you've got to see past those things and look how many lives you've saved.god bless.
I absolutely love this song. i'm a 25 year old EMT-IV ant ive come to realize if you dont have the passion for the job then ya dont need to do it. i dont make much money and dont ever plan on being rich but i love my job and id do it for free if i had to
I can relate to this song because me and my brother dad was a fire fighter and rmt We lost our daddy bud in a house fire we still miss him And always think of him and grandma every angel try's to win but u try your best to not let that angel win
this song is my world I'm Ems in Baxter county AR every day 12 hour shifts I work my but off to save life's me and the men and women I work with are by far the best EMS team around are area
I did 12 years and this hits too close to home. The hardest things a decent man faces aren't those things done to him, but inhumanity done to others that his life has forced him to witness.
23 years old now, been an EMT-Basic since I was 18, I passed my NREMT-P in January, feels like this song really connects now more than ever. Great song gentlemen, great song.
Thank you for all your hard work! Would you know what EDS is if you had a patient have it? I have that, it’s a connective tissue disorder that causes my body to create bad collagen. Thus I have easy bruising, slow healing, chronic pain and I have the potential to subluxation or dislocation my joints.
This is an awsome song!!! It really brings out what a volunteer emt stands for. I might not have that many bad calls. But it a salute to everyone that takes time to help others that are in desperate need of help at there most terrible time.
I made a comment 4 years ago about how as a paid emt this song hit home. I just want to say to all the emt/paramedics who read this keep riding stay strong. A couple months after my last post my ride ended. Our ambulance was hit by a semi during transport. We all survived but I will never be the same. BEST SAFE.
I heard this song when it first came out...loved it then, still love it. =) Thank you to Sequoyah Rain for writing it. It's been shared with all of my co workers. Renee
You made a great song. It's totally awesome. I know I'll be making my family & friends listen to this song. It will help them to have a better understanding of what I do. Thank-you so much.
Been an EMT for a year now, nothing but a white cloud the whole time with 5 calls a day. Tornado ripped through a city yesterday. Took a tree down on a small car. Mom got out just before it fell. She didn't. She was eleven years old. Probably just got home from school.
Where I am from.. Medic is also an emt. Look at the Military. Most Medics are Emt-Basics. But the military trains them to do more. I am an EMT- Intermediate but I am certified as a Tactical Medic. When someone asks for a medic. Not only does the Paramedic run... But the EMT does also. So in my eyes... Medic = Ambulance Worker.
The words of thid song touched my soul. I wonder if it was written by medics. It surely was because you can hear it through the words. No one else could write the words that just pull you in, makes you feel like you're right there with them. Beautiful.
anyone can take a class and pass a test, but it take someone that can hide feelings, bite their tongue, and work in one of the most stressful jobs in the world. its a sad thing to say but when someone is at their worst we are out best
@bcfd346 hahah....alright you got me. But seriously if you look closely to working in EMS most people will call a merson holding an EMT-P card will be called a medic, and their shoulder or back of their jacket will say Paramedic. On the other hand anyone holding other credentials other then EMTP will be called EMT's and will also have it on their jackets/uniform.
the part in the song talking about a girl taking pills that was me awhile ago and thank heaven the paramedics arrived and got me help in time because yes at the time I wanted to die I don't now
@bcfd346 Plus I didnt go through hell and back which is medic school while working full time to be called "an ambulance driver" or even worse a medicvan driver. My badge says Paramedic on it and shit...I dont just drive the rig, half the time im in the back pushing meds and monitoring pt's so they dont kick the bucket. And thank you for calling me a Paragod...Ill take that as a compliment :)
we go through nearly the same stuff that you all do,i've had three guns pointed to my head, two knifes held up to my neck, and got shot, but we dont have weapons to deffened ourselfs,we're not even aloud to carry pepper spray, our lives are put on the line to,im not saying more than cops do,lets not go around starting fights about who's job is more dangerous, your job (god forbid) if one of you got wounded,we would respond,if we need you for a situation you would respond,we all work together.
I say the same thing about my dear mom who I thought of as an angel on earth. She was an LPN in her life. My mom passed away on February 23rd 2019 from congestive heart failure.😥😓😢😭
@bcfd346 Ummm...a medic is a Paramedic aka EMP-P...meaning you need aroudn 2 years of school...depending where you go. and EMT...is usually just a Basic aka EMT-B...that pretty much nation wide standard. some states still recognize EMT-I85 and EMT-I99
eh some times its slow and we only do like 4-5 jobs a shift, other times were busy as hell running 18 to 20 jobs a shift. all depends on whos dispatching and if its a full moon or not. oh and dont get me wrong man, I love it when im riding with a good EMT, makes my job so much easier, especially if there in medic school. Then they do all the skills and Im just a glorified secretary/driver hah. And I wasnt trying to bash on EMT's or anything, shit I was an emt for 2 years before
Dang... Quick responce. You must work at a slow service like I do. lol... I can't say too much because I am a Paramagic student. I know what you mean about the whole "medic" thing. just wanted to give fellow EMTs a sence of being because nobody loves us like they do the drug pushers. (teer in my beer). nice to have someone to talk to at 2 & 3 in the am(Eastern Time). L8er and Be safe. You know how us EMTs drive.. HEHE
Great song! I saw the tabs for this once on their website and just noticed it's not up anymore. Does anyone know where to get the tabs for this song? Thanks!
@Trainmasterryan We deal with the same thing. EMS gets called out to the crack houses and violent scenes but many times we are given bad dispatch info and walk in with out any back up. I've had 2 or 3 knives pulled on me and had to fight with a drunk trying to pull a pistol on me. And I'm not unique in this. Not playing you down, we just get the same stuff
@UniteAndWinOiOi From: Wikipedia : Medic = "Medic is a general term for a person involved in medicine, especially emergency or first-response medicine, such as an emergency medical technician, paramedic, or a military member trained in battlefield medicine..." Let me say this. I have worked a EMT ambulance without a Medic for 9 years. We only lost 2. Many transfers of the death angel on our ass. Bullshit song. We experienced EMTs call medics paragods, so the think.
North Carolina SkyWatch you call my father's song bull sh*t how about you think before you start typing bro here's a question for you have you lost a member of your family because if you have then think about them and say nice things if you don't have something nice to say shut your mouth
Well where you live must be very "soft" because me as a EMT we are limited to what we can do thats why EMTs are BLS and Medics are ALS and you said mainly transfers, we have private ambulance companies do that for us because we actually are out there saving lives, Fire and EMS is suppose to be a family not bash each other what we call you is a glory hound only it for the fame and attention.

My dad was a paramedic EMT and EMS for 16 years and he had this song in his play list and it is sad but it warms my heart
Thank you for your kind words I am an emt student working on my nremt certification in a few months
I heard this song at a dear co-workers funeral. He was a awesome man, that made him a awesome Paramedic. RIP Waco Howe
when its 4am, you forgot the last time you ate because you have been running all shift, your returning back to quarters from a pretty bad mva for a shift change at 5 while listening to this song..and you think about it...was it worth it??? was it???....and the answer is Yes, Hell Yes.

Remember your “why”! Thank you for the reminder.

I've had my life saved more than once by emts I thank God 4 them every day ❤️ one verse to this chills me they know why.
Proud to be an EMT-B just got my results a week ago. Now I am a member of the group of EMS Professionals.

this made me cry, being a Paramedic and all, thinking of how many lives that I let go becuase they bled out before we could get there in time,or didnt have the exact location, and couldnt find them intil their last breath, but you've got to see past those things and look how many lives you've saved.god bless.

as a volunteer fire fighter and a first responder in training this hits very close to home.

Do you want to talk to the Paramedic in charge OR the EMT that know what is really going on?

@annemunceyabsher try being a cop, its not just someone else youre saving, you might not go home either each day. you guys have it easy
Trainmasterryan not a fucking competition to see who can wrack up the most ghosts
@raginghate

wierd.....
