    I think the position of "don't print cards that draw other cards" is way too surface level. Its generally more a costing issue, and the issue with those early draw cards was the lack of a cost. The CFV examples have a lot more going for them than simple draw 2 effects, and MLB being a top contender right alongside DOTE and Tsuku when it had very little direct card advantage and had to sacrifice cards to come online feels like the perfect evidence that it wasn't so simple.
    That said the IoraBal combo is definitely busted and i'll be unsurprised if its meta warping.

    3 cost to draw 2 seems pretty standard in most card games, although in most games with a building mana system you won't actually be able to play a 3 cost until turn 3, in build divide you can play it on turn 1, you are skipping your first turn to do so but in games where you have to wait till turn 3 you might not be able to skip your third turn if the opponent is playing an aggro deck and things have already ramped up rather quickly, another point in New Weapons Development's favour is the quick timing, the flexibility of being able to use it during your opponent's endphase (at least I think that's how quick timing works) means that if your opponent plays something problematic before that you can respond to it with a different quick timing card and hold off on the draw 2 effect till later, plus this is a game where you will naturally run out of cards by about turn 5 if you're placing one card into your mana each turn and playing at least one card each turn so being able to draw more is inherently stronger here than in something like Digimon which let's you draw every time you evo, often your hand will naturally increase over the course of the game instead of decrease, it's even stronger here than in Duel Masters because at least in Duel Masters all of your shields go to your hand when destroyed, the closest comparison to Build Divide for natural card draw would be MTG probably, MTG does have a bigger starting hand size but what you can do with that hand is less flexible cuz of the land system, and MTG's 3 cost draw 2 card that keeps getting recycled over and over is at sorcery speed, not instant speed, because of all of this New Weapons Development seems like it will be very strong to me, even ignoring the Iora combo, it's definitely flirting with the idea of being over powered, time will tell if it needs to get banned I suppose

      Yeah draw cards in fast past games that don't have summoning sicknesses seems more easier to develop. Like in Battle Spirits there red cards gets load of draw power even though it's a aggro deck.

      @Build Divide TCG Community I doubt that will be a huge problem for blue players, and in blue/black decks getting extra cards into the trash could be beneficial.

    MTG's Divination is more comparable to that draw 2 card. Ancestral Recall was an early mistake.

    Quick speed draw 2 for 3 is pretty good esp if draw go is a functional strategy in build divide. Definitely concerned about the combo but on paper this card is fine.

    I've played with New Weapons for a bit, and honestly it is good. But it's restrictive as well, I feel for Blue, that uses a lot of Commands this is a great card to have overall, because I've found myself in a few situations with my hand size being relatively small, and this card helps for that. So I think as of right now, it's fine, but it definitely has the potential to blow up in the future.

    When are you coming back Touya? Need more cool BD videos from you. Especially want to see your thoughts on how the game is being received in JP in its first month.

    Got a beginner question here so If I damage a burst unit and deal the extra damage to myself and that damage is another burst do I take 3 damage total?

    • @lost-worlds
      @lost-worlds  2 роки тому

      Yes, if your burst check reveals another burst, you do another check after that. It's technically possible (though unlikely) to go from full life to 0 by checking all consecutive bursts.

    Instant Speed Pot of Greed sounds pretty stupid lol. This isn't comparable to Divination because, from what I remember, you start with 2 mana so you're at 3 mana on turn one.

    • @HunterSerge
      @HunterSerge 2 роки тому +1

      Nah its still comparable to Divination. Costs are still scaled the same as normal for a MtG/DM-derivative, the game is just accelerated by 2 turns.

    • @superilikeeggsyo
      @superilikeeggsyo 2 роки тому

      @@HunterSerge I can't completely agree with that assessment because it seems like the mana curve in this game is not going to be similar to MTG (since, as you said, the game state is accelerated by 2 turns, which has funky implications with regards to how the early game works). I think the instant-speed is the bigger issue than its mana cost, though.
      That being said, I can't really back up what I'm saying because I haven't play-tested this game at all (I don't see the point since there's been no news of an international release yet).

      If you're comparing it to POG you've already made a mistake, even if you have the resources on turn 1 that doesn't matter when it stops you from doing anything with those resources and you run into the hand cap issue stopping you from using them. With Yugioh people were literally just chaining Pots and Graceful Charities (and occasionally Card Destruction) off of each other to draw almost their entire deck and there wasn't much that you could do about it. In this, doing that will let you do nothing else, and your opponent will just hit you in the face a bunch.

    • @superilikeeggsyo
      @superilikeeggsyo 2 роки тому

      This card has instant speed . You can just wait until opponent's end phase and chain it to the last card they play, effectively side-stepping the mana cost. A good player will know to not use the card when they're at the hand cap, too.
