Funny hearing how a manual locking hub as an upgrade seeing every old truck had them. It was a thrill when we were kids in the 70's to get out and "man our hub" on my uncles GMC.
As far as I'm concerned there are no other jeep videos on here like teraflex! You guys rock. Dennis and all crew are awesome every time. Your products are great. Thanks for all the info you provided.
The 3/4 ton 4x4s of old had it right. Adjustable dual tapered roller bearings on all 4 hubs. It makes me extremely happy to see a company go back to the good, tried and true designs of old.
just drove my 07 jk across the country stopped in at teraflex. the front desk lady was very nice. took me on a tour. apparently a lot of idiots like me do this. teraflex has no onsite shop. it's like getting to a closed wally world or seeing a giant Mormon church and seeing how real MONEY is spent, its like going to the Jeep factory and finding out no one cares about your Jeep, it's like going to see the wizard and behind the curtain is an empty film set and the never ending pursuit of a Jeep you'll never have. it's like going to a apple factory and seeing the next iPhones for 20 years. with all that money they should have a pit stop shop and or a place to add their parts. speaking of a wallet drain you probably need financial department for the upgrade in this video. some people want to maintain their Jeeps. the dealerships suck, very few people can do this on their own and finding the right people to do this work costs the same as buying another Jeep. I learned to have a lot of money if you wanna meet your hero's. Enjoy your new compound and give the front desk lady a raise. I appreciate the stickers and key ring.
Nice video and product. My 1991 80 Series land cruiser from factory has full floating axles with lockers front and rear. And a Rubicon dose not have full floaters?? Why Jeep why?
Do the locking hubs work with stock sized axles? I know the company that used to make a conversion required longer stub shafts to work. I have stock sized RCVs
Hi can the full float kit handle the 40s tires . i have dana 44 on Rubicon so would like to get the wide 70" conversion in the rear axle and locking Hub in the front , but how i get my front axle 70" too without using spacers ? must i replace the front housing axle ?
TF, can you (or any other helpful Jeeper) give insight as to whether one of these rear kits would fit the Dynatrac PR60 Semi Float axle housing? All that would matter is rather the spindles first correctly, right? I’ve got a SF PR60 sitting on my garage floor that I need to decide what to do with. I’m tired of looking at it!
I want to say it will fit as long as you have the correct spline count for your locker and our shafts. But you will want to confirm dimensions directly with Dynatrac to be certain.
I’m seriously thinking of pulling the trigger on this kit but before I do, can you tell what offset rim do I need to run in order to prevent the locking mechanism being scraped on rocks when wheeling?
@@stevemartinism Not sure if he was talked to or not, but we like to use a 4.5" or less total backspacing (including offset) to clear frame side components and re-center. Depth of where the hub sits in your rim will depend of Rim width. From the wheel mounting surface on the hub to the outer edge, it's about 4.75". Add the rotor width and the bolt heads I would say it sticks out around 5" from the WMS. Use that to make sure your rim and tire combo would be further and you are good to go.
wow, IF you you made these for XJ D30's you would have atleast one customer lol! aren't TJ D30s the same as XJ HP D30s? If so I think alot of people would be very interested... I really don't want to change my front D30 in my XJ (it already has a LA kit, hydro assist, and chromealoy shafts- your kit would be perfect for my needs (new stub shafts, keep the cromo's, get unlocking hubs, and FULL FLOAT! without needing to swap axles!(long arm axle swaps are more complicated). While on the rear, I'm not so concerned, I can much easier swap a Ford 8.8(leaf springs) if I need to (I have a 8.25) and don't feel the need for a kit like this in the rear... I just love the Idea of the extra 'insurance' for my D30 that's already custom built/set up, and nicely fitting in my Jeep.
Steven Celmer no, a portal axle system would require drastic changes and may not work well with this kit. Portal axles will drop down using a gear reduction in most cases from the hub, Which in the majority of cases will require a different front hub assembly and require a more proprietary axle shaft. I'm sure this kit could be made to work with portal axles but I doubt that they would bolt straight up.
No, portal axles have a gear reduction box on the ends of the axles that further multiply the gearing... and move your wheels lower than the center of the pumpkin, effectively raising the pumpkin out of the way. Waaaaay more expensive but vastly better design. This is a poor man's dana 60 alternative... one that honestly should come stock on a rubicon.

AMAZINGLY WELL FILMED VIDEO!!!
Thank you for the lesson!!!
Well done guys! Been waiting for someone to put together a kit like this.
Spotted the new BFG KM3 tires? KO2 sidewall with KM3 tread.

So basically the front ends up just like a good old Dana 44 out of a 70 s 3/4 ton truck, locking hubs and 8 lug.
Exactly what I was thinking when I watched this. My first 4x4 was a '76 1/2 ton Chevy and then later a 79 3/4 ton 4x4. Both had locking hubs.
This technology is quite old, but old school is the best school
Always innovating! Very cool
I don't even own a Jeep but I still enjoyed the video.
I don't even own a jeep but this is how they should all be built
Right?!
They used to be all built like this. My 04 WJ is the first 4x4 I have owned that did NOT have manual hubs in front.

Will this setup can handle 40s on jku rubicon with dana 44 , or do I have to upgrade housing ?

You will need longer stub shafts for this kit, luckily we include a forged 4340 chromoly 35 spline stub shaft.
Does this mean you have to get out and lock your hub into 4WD? Or does it still work with the stock transfer case lever in the cab?
Can these be made to fit Dana44 35spline RCV performance Axles?
So does this help with towing?
Do you have to upgrade to a 8lug or do you guys make them in a 5 lug?
You'd think they'd build them that way from the start.
Need this for the Jeep TJ Dana 44s front and rear !
2:22 is that drum brake? what is it for while having disc brake?
The drum and brake shoes are the emergency brake.
Hopefully you can make this kit for the TJ!!! I hate the jk but i would love that kit on my TJ!
Thanks Dennis. Well done. Spend my money dude. 🤣
What backspacing/offset do you recommend for wheels for a JKU running 35"+ tires (12.5" wide)?
4.5" of total backspacing or less.
Incredible video!!

Anything new for us Jeep Wrangler JL Sport owners? Full float with increased towing capacity would be amazing.
We've been tossing around the idea of making it happen yes, but time will tell. Stay tuned.

great presentation
is there a lot for a 2002 jeep tj?
Awesome product guys won't work on my LJ but I would buy it if I had a JK
Does that exist for 5 wheel nut
hows this, put a locking hub(s) on one or both sides of the rear axle?
This will put locking hubs on the front axle, passenger and driver side.
Now the question is, will you guys make it TJ's as well?
There are kits to put JK axles under the TJ search "JK2TJ" kits
Dorsk84 funny you mention that, it’s going on my Jeep front and rear in two weeks :D so now I have options
This is one of the better visual explanations of semi vs full float. Do you rate the axles with a higher GAWR with the conversion?

do yall make a kit for the ford 8.8, or dana 44 ttb?
As of right now, these are only available for JK axles.
Why are jk coilover conversions so common, but xj coilover conversions are pretty rare?
If I'm not mistaken it has something to do with the amount of space
Is this available for YJ?
As of right now, these are only available for JK axles.
so... is teraflex just for jeeps? and all jeeps like the grand Cherokee?
So if I understand would have to buy new wheels. I have 2013 in Ruby unlimited. I have you fire carrier and lift kit. I like your products!
