    Thanks for this video! I found it really useful, as I'm an offer holder for maths and physics, hopefully starting next academic year :) So just to clarify about the optional modules, does that mean I could potentially take a chemistry module for example?

      Hi! Congrats on your offer! Maths Phys is actually managed by the Physics department so I'm not sure if it is different, but there is definitely potential for you to do so- if you go on the OurWarwick link in the description I would recommend contacting a Physics student to see what they say!

    Hiya thanks u for the vid im debating wether to put warwick as one of my choices for straight maths aswell, the course looks fantastic and all but im worried about not enjoying my time there due to the location. 1. Do you find that there are enough things to do away from academics? 2. Like how is the social life and 3. are there pretty ike rides and walking lanes around the area?

    • @nilusha6197
      @nilusha6197  3 роки тому +1

      1. Yes theres lots of societies for example drinking/ cultural/ games and more! As well as having amazing sports facitilities and sports clubs that you can join- all which have their own events and meets (socials). The gym is open a lot with a pool and climbing. Coventry is only a short bus ride away and Birmingham is also nice for a weekend! Theres also an ice rink in coventry and cinema!

      2. The social life really is what you make of it. Its been slightly impacted because of covid but societies and sports are running again and so you have the opportunity to meet people there.

      3. On campus theres some walking routes that are quite pretty and War Memorial park is very lovely, which is a cycle away from campus!

    Hi! Thanks for this video. How are you finding the course at Warwick? Is it very difficult? Did you do any of the MAT/TMUA/STEP?

    • @nilusha6197
      @nilusha6197  3 роки тому +3

      Hi! Hope you are well! Its good, theres such a large range of Maths you do during the course so you quickly find out what you're good at and what you'd find harder! In my experience people tend to find 1/2 modules each year difficult (since we do have compulsory core modules). I sat both the TMUA and the MAT, I would recommend sitting at least 1 as it gives you a good insight into the level of thinking they would like you to be able to follow at university.

    Would it be possible to take 120 credits of maths and only maths, or is it mandatory to take extra subjects?

    • @nilusha6197
      @nilusha6197  3 роки тому

      Good question! So the way it works is you must take at least 120 credits per year. It is up to you what you choose to do for these, aside from core modules. The rest of the credits are free for you to choose pretty much whatever you want within reason!
      You are able to take all maths if you would prefer- remember the stats department is separate, so people who want to focus on only maths often end up taking modules from stats too.
      The other bonus is, currently they allow us to take up to 150 credits, so if there are too many modules you want to do this allows you to take a few more!

      @@nilusha6197 I also do MMath at Warwick and I’m a year below you.
      A recommendation for new students is don’t overcat (which is doing more than 120 CATS) in the first year. Once you’re familiar with the system or level of difficulty maybe you can take 126-132 in year 2 (a module is at least 6 CATS) but it’s not a requirement. Also for the MMath course you need to fulfil certain requirements at the end of year 2 to proceed. You need to take at least 90 CATS of math modules (66 CATS core) and achieve 65% average in those
      And even one module is a lot of work. 12 CATS can already be very time-consuming (like Analysis)
      But you can change your modules throughout the term. If you have registered for an optional module and then feel you don’t like it or it’s too difficult for you, then you can drop that/those module(s) when module changes open again (in term 2 or whatever) provided:
      1. You still do at least 120 CATS, and
      2. At most 10% of assessed work have been submitted for the modules you want to drop

    • @nilusha6197
      @nilusha6197  2 роки тому

      @@leroytang1617 thanks for your take! I disagree! Overcatting is very good as it gives you a lot of freedom and I did 126 in my first year (dropped a module too!). I think its very good to make sure you've done the prereqs for all the different departments you might be interested in and if it's too much work? Just drop it.

    Do u think Warwick will be lenient with grades? eg the offer is A*AA (for maths and stats) but u get A*AB or even A*A*B? and the B being a non maths subject

    • @nilusha6197
      @nilusha6197  3 роки тому +1

      Potentially, it really depends on various things like the number of students who meet their grades for the course. Obviously, the better your personal statement/ grades/ achievements are will help, but it may never come down to that if places are filled by offer holders.

      Hey, I am a Warwick offer holder too for the class of 2021. I was worried about fully meeting the conditions too so I did research a bit. The 3 star condition at Warwick is pretty hard tbh and usually 30% of the class misses the offer by a bit so they then consider your As and O level grades and your personal statement. Also considering the special circumstances everyone has gone through bec of the pandemic, I hope they would be lenient 🤞🏻 . Good luck 🙂

    Do you think we went to the moon? The last time we've been was 50 years ago with 50 year old technology, we didn't even have flip phones back then. Some excuses they push for never going back are financial restrictions (lol) and lack of interest (also lol).

    • @Stormylobby-js8fu
      @Stormylobby-js8fu 11 місяців тому

      Well why tf would we want to go back to the moon (lol) as we're already aware of what's on it (also lol). Sending a robot will not only give you better pictures and can stay there longer, it also removes the human risks involved. And yes there is a lack of interest since is costs a lot of money to send people up there, why would we do it if it won't serve a any important purpose (also also lol).
