Loooooove the asmr bookbinding videos. Even though they are not tutorials, I actually learn a lot from just watching and they are super satisfying to watch. I’ve actually watched some of them more than once haha
Whatever you do, I will love it for sure, you've been my creative inspiration when it comes to bookbinding. Your videos are very relaxing too. You've been my work from home companion. Thank you!
Initially I subscribed to several bookbinding channels, including this one, to learn as a hobby. Now that I've learned what I wanted to, this is the only bookbinding channel that has sustained my interest. I especially prefer the quiet, long videos of working. They're the type of video I'd most likely keep watching on this channel over the long term.
I especially enjoy your “a day in the life” videos. I love hearing the sounds of your bindery and your work. You don’t need to make tutorials for someone to learn about bookbinding. When the time is right to make one, you will know. Keep on growing, and remember that you can do anything, but you can’t do everything. Cheers
I agree that tutorials can be difficult as a small channel I 100% feel the pressure to "provide" value in that way because so many people come to youtube to learn something. I personally like watching the behind the scenes and watching you work. I also enjoy hearing the book binding ASMR with audio clips of you talking about what you are doing or just day to day thoughts. Especially when you talk about your experience as a small business and sharing what you've learned. 🥰
Hey! never write comments, but I'm glad to give feedback 🌟 I subscribed because I find your videos very relaxing and cozy. I used to do bookbinding for about 6 years, only for myself and friends I made watercolor sketchbooks, photo albums and art books. and now I miss this process, paper textures, sounds absolutely in love with the Cozy quiet bookbinding 4k video. it's very interesting to watch you create something new, and it's nice to see you more relaxed in front of the camera. my favorite content is just to watch the vlog process, but also the q&a video and your reflection on your work In short, whatever you shoot next, it will be awesome!🌻📒✨
You inspire me to craft more and enjoy what i create. Its truly an honor to watch your videos because i believe you are a an awesome instructor. I dont have any problems on how you show your videos. I think you are a professional and natural leader in what you do. Always walk in beauty, bless you. 🙂
I love learning about bookbinding, but not every channel I watch are tutorials. Just seeing you use your tools and watching your process satisfies that itch. I like it when UA-camrs are real and do whatever comes natural, nothing forced. Your esthetic is very pleasing and is a perfect mixture of talking and just enjoying what you're doing. Thank you for reaching out to us, but I'd like you to know that you're doing great with your own ideas of what you want your channel to be. I hope you enjoy your time away and come back refreshed and raring to go.
for your questions: 1. as someone who is a bookbinder as well, I really resonated with the titles of a lot of your videos (bookbinding relieves my stress and anxiety/renews my hope and creativity/brings me calm and presence/etc.), and enjoy watching them because of your editing, lighting, and lovely shot compositions. 2. the videos where you talk about your process- not describing the steps as a how-to, but talking about why you make the creative decisions that you do or reflecting on how trying out a new technique or method went- are really compelling since they have allowed me to learn more about you through a unique format. 3. I tend to find that I am indifferent to tutorials. I watch yours anyways since they're shot/edited so nicely, but I go to a school that offers bookbinding classes and can just ask a professor if I would like to learn a new technique or method. I definitely know that my circumstances are unusual though lol
I know that this comment might come a little late but I'm new to bookbinding and I have discovered your channel by chance. I find you so true and respectful at making your books and at being open about how you're feeling. I love your contents and I'm inspired by your work and the serenity that exudes from you and your videos. I know that you might not always be feeling great but what comes out of your video and work helps calm me down. (I'm a head trauma survivor and my daily life isn't the easiest so I understand). Thanks for you, your energy and your videos!
Your channel is about Your journey, whichever direction you go I’m sure most of us will enjoy and applaud. I only came across you in a sorta-recent search for better binding techniques. I sometimes have artistic clients whose art I want to corral into more eye catching collections. Through that “rabbit hole” I’ve gleaned ideas to do so, beyond the glue-bound technique I learned as a kid. Many of your videos have also been pleasant to watch while I work. As for tutorials, you can remain resource without becoming a tutorial creator. Jump in that pool when you feel you are ready to do so. The occasional tutorial based on what You have Experienced is just as important as the content created by those that “have to.” I’ve witnessed too many artisans burn out the last few years because they pumping out content or products they “have to” instead of what makes their heart sing. Ps. The guillotine is sooo satisfying to watch. I miss having one! And your instax books are making me want to dig out my camera and start using it again Just so I can buy one of these. 😍 Thank you for your beautiful creations.
Your approach is lovely. Don’t do tutorials if you don’t feel comfortable doing them. Do what you enjoy and sharing your process of learning is perfect. Vlogging is perfect. Burnout is awful so avoid that and go with your own flow. Your aesthetics is beautiful. Just keep going and be happy xx
I love watching you work. I have learned a lot from just watching you. Your videos are calming and relaxing. So many tutorial videos have so much pointless chatter and people trying too hard to engage people. I love that you are just you.
UA-cam was pushing bookbinding on me (i'm a knitter) and it recommended your sketchbook asmr video which appealed to me! Your videos were so calm and peaceful which appeals to me, plus just watching you make has taught me so much. I really personally enjoy learning. I like learning about anything. If you made a book and talked about a different subject, I would watch it! The vlogs are slightly less appealing to me personally, but it could just be the length of the video. For me personally, i tend to stay away from videos that are more than 20 minutes if it's not a subject i am not fully invested in. I love the little candid shots of your dog, the tea, etc.
I would like to see you trying methods new to you, and discussing what you liked or didn't like, even if it was just you messing up (all part of the process!)
I loved this video so much. The ironing. Your colour theory is amazing. I feel like you already know "your colours" because you wear them and design with them so well. Side note you look so pretty. I love the navy tiger print and I love u. Bye!!!!😂❤️
I've always enjoyed bookbinding, learning from sea lemon channel mostly. But the difference with your videos, it's simple, relaxing and honestly you do show a lot! I've learned some new tricks and different ways to bookbind :)
I like your book binding diys a lot. You explain things so well. That being said, to alleviate some pressure caused by “tutorials” maybe you could show process and then link to other learning resources in the description - like the resources you have used. I think your box making video is the perfect format.
I really enjoy the process of book binding because it is a strong craftsmanship! I personally had done book binding for a class but did not master it like you! I love your videos and explanations in here while there are moments of silence and just demonstrating. There is a great sense of tranquility and peace in your videos. I also appreciate your honest thoughts and care to your audience and asking for feedback!
If ur looking for books with lots of different binding style, Keith A Smith ones are a real treasury and well explained. Love your videos. If you don't want to do tutorials thats totally fine, there was a tag years ago in blog land which said 'blogging without obligation'. Its a fine line isn't it, you start a channel to share what u enjoy, but sometimes over time, end up feeling obliged to do things a certain way to keep an audience. Thing is, but when u do what you love and enjoy, thats what really keeps you creating and wanting to create, far better to do that, than end up resenting the very space you wanted to share in the first place. Stlyes and channels evolve over time, if you leave the older v ideos up, then those interested in them can rewatch, those newer to your channel have options to explore. Lots of channels offer tutorials, so please don't feel obliged to create content that doesn't feel right for you. Thanks for all you do and all u share. If ppl want tutorial channels fo bookbinding I can put a few up in the next post, so you can choose if you want it left up or not. respecting ur space. maybe let me know if u want me to do that, so Im not over stepping. take care, stay safe and thanks for all u do.
I am a bookbinder myself, so I am not looking for any tutorials, but I do really enjoy watching you do your thing. I already learn a lot from that and I find your videos very relaxing! Just the bookbinding sounds, looking at the beautifull papers you use and getting along with you handmade business and life is my favorite thing about your videos! Whatever you decide to do or change I, I am looking forward to it! You can be really proud of yourself!
I just received my order yesterday and it made me so happy. It did not disappoint at all and I will definitely order from you again. Your work is beautiful.😄
Well, a lot going on for you right now! That's OK...glad you are taking time to process! 1. I subscribe to your channel because I enjoy simply watching you do what you do. I learn by watching, listening. I also root for you and your success, you seem like a good and kind person-and the world needs more of that! (also-I LOVE the 2 journals I recently got-Thanks!) 2. Short answer is that I have not seen any content I don't like. Really just videos of doing the simple day to day things that it takes for you to create! I enjoy the small things that all add up to a finished project. I also enjoy "seeing" the creative process, what works, what does not work, how you try something new to see if it becomes a new project (or not) and why. 3. Nothing indifferent... 4. I would say in closing...However you choose to move forward with this channel and business please keep in mind - This is a business for you. Make sure you are making this work for you and your business first, the rest follows. Life is constant evaluation, change, growth. Be well-
☆ I love your videos and aesthetic! ☆ It's so nice to see your personality coming through. Perhaps you're getting more comfortable in front of the camera? Your comments about feeling like you're on a cooking show (totally me.. haha), or mercury retrograde or just loosening up a bit is so nice to see and makes this video so warm and lovely to watch. You have inspired me to start my own book binding project and I used Sea Lemon's tutorials, mixed with your silent demonstrations of how to do it. So I managed. I don't think you need to do tutorial videos if you're not ready! You need to look after yourself, too. I subscribed for the gentle aesthetic and reminders to care for myself and enjoy the craft. It's also inspiring that you made the jump to opening your own shop and studio so I want to hear more about your successes. Would love to see more about the process and any experimentations, like trying new materials or like another video where you were trying new styles and processes (I think your one-book-per-day video?) I also liked your comments about the new quarter binding method and why that's better. Maybe putting those and other tidbits in will satisfy the tutorial requests? Good luck!!!
I will happily answer your questions . 1. I have been curious about book binding and I found your videos to be very pleasing and calming. Since watching you, you've kinda opened a new world for me. 2. What resonates with me, is watching other artists share their passion. Seeing the creative environment , watching the process, seeing the finished results, it always inspires me and I walk away with some new knowledge or curiousity. 3. I am struggling with that last question, I'm sitting here for 5 minutes try to find the right answer. If I have to pick something it would be a how to tutorial with over explainations. I understand your struggles at wanting to grow your channel and perhaps your feeling stagnant , overwhelmed , under whelmed or confused all in the same thought process. From one creator to another, I get you!... but let me say your brilliant! Your videos are VERY well done, your extremely personal , you are already casual and "visually " you seem to have it "together" There are other book binders out there that I have watched and learned from but I always come back to your channel. I want to see the things YOU enjoy making. This bindery world you have created is just a wonderful pleasant place to be. Keep being you! It sounds to me that your not comfortable with making tutorials. You should listen to that voice. as you mentioned there are others that do the same, there is no harm in referring questions to another channel. What's most important is that you create the content that means the most to you and helps you in your day to day life. I realise that it may not have been intended but this video helped me. Yesterday, I was struggling with my future as a creator but today....you made me feel not so alone. Perhaps this may seem random and being on the other side of the planet...I want you to know that my door is alway open if you ever need to chat, vent, bounce ideas around. Over 26k people care about you and we are here for you. I personally thank you for sharing your vision and I look forward to each of your videos. Much love! Wayne
Started watching for tutorials but do enjoy the music for background. Learned a lot on burn out and ways to deal with it. Would like to see textiles and other creative book covers. Enjoy your videos and will watch either way.
I really appreciate how honest and open you are about your journey though this. It's encouraging to see someone who is farther along in the side hustle to small business pipeline, but who is willing to share the questions and growth that come with sharing your work with the world! Here are some long answers your questions: 1. I subscribed to your channel because I enjoy your videos, wanted to show support and stay updated on your business. I really vibe with your aesthetic and I can relate a lot with the emotions you talk about in your videos (stress, doubt, excitement when you're working on something new, then getting burnt out after doing a lot!) 2. There are two kinds of content that resonate with me, depending on why I'm on UA-cam. First are your videos where you've talked about your supplies and the trials and tribulations of a product launch - I had dabbled in book binding when I was a kid and am looking to pick it back up again. I initially came across your videos when I was researching "how-to" bookbinding videos. Even if your videos aren't "tutorials", I think it's helpful to see your process and what is working/not working for you. I especially love that in this video you talk about how you've improved the instax covers and why it's a better method. Second are the more "background" videos because tend to play videos like that while I'm working on paintings in hopes of absorbing some creative energy! 3. I've never been able to get into journaling, so I don't think I've watched any of those videos (don't come for me avid jounalers! hahah).
I like watching you work. I learn from watching and then trying things myself. I find people go about bookbinding in different ways and watching how they do things provides tips and tricks one may not get from reading instructions. Keep going!
Originally I was looking for “how to bookbinding” to bind my art journals as a gift to my friend, I ended up watching more of your videos. When you guided us to write journals with your self-reflecting questions, I subscribed your channel. I enjoy watching all your videos for several reasons, they are filmed beautifully, the lighting is excellent particularly on you, the music is relaxing, very soothing to watch. However, I didn’t learn bookbinding from you because the steps are not clearly seen, so if you don’t want to do any tutorials, that’s fine with me. As for what new topics, anything that is creative would be good. I like the 100 days challenge, different shapes of books......
I found your channel while I was searching for zine videos; so that's the first one I watched by you! Seeing all the bookbinding content, I immediately subscribed. I should say that the studio vlog where you pieced together that wall hanging out of leftover bookcloth made me a loyal follower! I'm really into seeing how artists/makers go about their practice, reflect on their working process or work-life balance, pursue sidequests etc. I agree with the others saying they still learn stuff watching your vlogs. You definitely don't have to make tutorials if you don't feel like for whatever reason! We're here for the calm & creative vibes
I started watching your videos as I was interested in trying some bookbinding. Your style has inspired me probably more than other youtubers I have watched, and I have watched a lot!. It would be great to see some tutorials but I have to say that I have picked up so much just from watching your blogs which are very relaxed, simple and honest. Carry on just the way you are doing. ❤
I subscribed for the calm, cozy, atmosphere of your videos. You also really make me want to try bookbinding. Oh, and I can't seem to get enough of Lucy's sweet crooked smile!
I really like your videos, and i learnt a lot watching them. Your calm demeanour and your method for bookbinding have inspirated me to make my own to. Thanks
Ciao Chanel! I subscribe your channel because I'm in the journey of bookbinding since a year now and I was searching for contents about it! I immediately fall in love with your stile and your esthetic. I love see the studio vlog, so calming and I always learn a lot just by seeing you working. I find you also so inspiring as person and woman 🤍 you have a lot to say! Sorry for my English 😂 Love from Italy, Elena
I'm a relatively new subscriber - I just found this channel maybe a month ago, and I subscribed because of the whole feel of the channel, plus the really clear shots of you working. Personally, I don't need full tutorials from you. I'm very new at binding, but the basics *are* out there. So if you don't do tutorials for a long while, I'll still be learning from almost every video you make. There's always a material, tool, technique, or type of binding that I haven't seen, so I'm always learning from you. And I'm also being immersed in a beautiful, calming space while I watch. BTW, I love your voice. It's high and girlish like mine, but you still manage to sound so much more "adult" than me. 🤣 Thank you for your work on this channel. I appreciate most of your content that I've seen, I like videos where you talk a bit more, rather than straight ASMR vids; I like seeing what you're doing when you're working; I like your shop updates because I see new things you've made and more of what's possible in bookbinding; and I love the airy, soft light, and just... very pretty feel of your videos.
Every time you make me smile when you smile love your soul keep growing and keeep smiling everyday thanks for video and where is your first masccot i see that you buy a new one love 😍 ya
I would love to see more of your papers, where it comes from, what it’s called what would you use it for, ie front of book inside cover sheet etc. Book cloths etc. The easiest papers to work with. Glues etc, I suppose the technical bits along with what you are already doing.
Gosto muito dos seus vídeos, aprendo com eles, me inspiram, me trazem tranquilidade Sou iniciante na encadernação e já amo encadernar. Gosto de acompanhar seu processo criativo é muito generoso de sua parte! Obrigada❤🙏
First I love your videos. If you want to do some tutorials, do them. You don't have to do any at all if you don't want to. It's your channel and you can do what you want to do with it. If you are going to do tutorials, pick how many you want to do(1 a week or 1 a month, etc.) Just be you and everything will turn out fine. There's no pressure from me for you to do tutorials. I enjoy just watching your videos. Very relaxing. If I really want to learn more on bookbinding I can look at other videos. Especially if you decide not to do tutorials. Take care and have fun. It's the most important thing. Hugs, Teresa.
Hi, here’s some feedback, i hope it helps. I subscribed to your channel because I saw a bookbinding tutorial and I liked that you showed your entire bookbinding process including some mistakes you made and how to fix themas that gave me ideas on how to fix some mistakes I have made while bookbinding. I liked that your channel has chill vibes and it felt kinda on the same category as PearFleur which I really like too. The kind of content that resonates with me is relaxed/informative/aesthetic, I find your content to be like that since I can learn from your 100 bookbinding challenge and tutorials but I can also just sit and watch and relax. The content I am indifferent about are ASMRs, but that’s just me.
At minute 6:37 that’s what I mean, you don’t need to make tutorials but just you showing your process and adding sharing stuff that you learned. I love your vlogs.
I love your studio vlogs! picking up tips is just a nice bonus. Also love your slice of life videos - the road trip one was so good. Though give yourself more credit ( you are an expert! ) the YT culture of people pretending to be experts on a new thing every week or being expected to give advice just because they have a UA-cam channel is pretty silly - I like your realistic vibe
Hola!!! Me encanta lo que háces me parece un trabajo hermoso :) Yo estoy iniciando mi emprendimiento de encuadernación y tu trabajo es realmente muy inspirador. Muchas gracias :) Hello!!! I love what you do, I think it's a beautiful job :) I'm starting my bookbinding business and your work is really very inspiring. Thank you very much :)
As a book binding novice, the odd tutorial can be helpful but often just watch how someone got through the process is very useful. You most recent video tutorial was very useful but just watching your work flow is also lovely and relaxing.possible you could add odd tips in (either with voice or text) I’m am curious how you work out the amount of thread a book would need. I personally don’t enjoy full ASMR as I find the volume of them are often too loud for my ear but your no music, no voice video are the perfect volume for the activity to be calm without it being overwhelming (I’m autistic so that might be the reason, I’m incredibly noise sensitive).
hello hello, just dropping a comment to say your shop link in your bio leads to the wrong page, still your website so I could still find the shop! but I thought I'd let you know!!!
Hello! I'm here in Los Angeles....May I ask where you got your transparent healing cutting board? and what size is it? I need a bigger one like that.......btw I always watch your videos...they give me inspiration to work on my crafts. thank you.
Loooooove the asmr bookbinding videos. Even though they are not tutorials, I actually learn a lot from just watching and they are super satisfying to watch. I’ve actually watched some of them more than once haha
they're satisfying to make too! thanks Isaac 😊
Whatever you do, I will love it for sure, you've been my creative inspiration when it comes to bookbinding. Your videos are very relaxing too. You've been my work from home companion. Thank you!
If you're not ready to offer tutorials, then don't. Your videos are lovely for what they are... a vlog of your binding and your thoughts.
I agree

yes! being a small channel has been such a roller coaster. wishing you the best Jada 💛
I agree Jada, the asmr aspect is wonderful, just watchingn someone create is just as soothing as making it yourself.
Hey! never write comments, but I'm glad to give feedback 🌟
I subscribed because I find your videos very relaxing and cozy.

happy to hear that sharing my handmade business life is a favourite thing of yours!
(also-I LOVE the 2 journals I recently got-Thanks!)
It's so nice to see your personality coming through.
Good luck!!!
these are great suggestions, thanks Marnie! 😊
I always go to you for bookbinding anything! You are inspiring, Chanel!
I agree 😍
what! omg 💛
Your videos are VERY well done, your extremely personal , you are already casual and "visually " you seem to have it "together"
There are other book binders out there that I have watched and learned from but I always come back to your channel.
Much love!
Wayne
wow! this is very thoughtful. thank you so much Wayne 🥰
@@bittermelonbindery You are very welcome, happy to put a little bit of love in the world….in any small way I can. Hope your enjoying your trip ❤️🤍❤️
Here are some long answers your questions:
1. I subscribed to your channel because I enjoy your videos, wanted to show support and stay updated on your business. I really vibe with your aesthetic and I can relate a lot with the emotions you talk about in your videos (stress, doubt, excitement when you're working on something new, then getting burnt out after doing a lot!)
3. I've never been able to get into journaling, so I don't think I've watched any of those videos (don't come for me avid jounalers! hahah).
this was sweet to read, thank you!! 😊
I originally subscribed due to the videos that showed you working on bookbinding for start to finish. I love the chats also. And of course Lucy ..
I like watching you work. I learn from watching and then trying things myself. I find people go about bookbinding in different ways and watching how they do things provides tips and tricks one may not get from reading instructions. Keep going!
thanks Carol 😊
Oh I'm glad you enjoyed the journal with me video!
thank you!! happy bookbinding 💛
I subscribed for the calm, cozy, atmosphere of your videos. You also really make me want to try bookbinding. Oh, and I can't seem to get enough of Lucy's sweet crooked smile!
haha i'm delighted that you noticed her crooked smile 😂
I really like your videos, and i learnt a lot watching them. Your calm demeanour and your method for bookbinding have inspirated me to make my own to. Thanks
glad to hear that the videos are helpful. happy bookbinding 💛
Sorry for my English 😂
Love from Italy, Elena
thank you Elena! 🥰
Oh and I forgot! I LOOOVED seeing so much of you!! It was like a chance to start to get to know you a bit. Cute doggo, too... 🙂
Congratulations on your continued success and enjoy your time off. 🤗💜
thank you :)
Every time you make me smile when you smile
love your soul
keep growing and keeep smiling everyday
thanks for video
and where is your first masccot i see that you buy a new one
love 😍 ya
I would love to see more of your papers, where it comes from, what it’s called what would you use it for, ie front of book inside cover sheet etc. Book cloths etc. The easiest papers to work with. Glues etc, I suppose the technical bits along with what you are already doing.
Meant to add what do you do to motivate yourself when the oompf has up and left you.
This is encouraging, thanks Teresa 💛
Thanks Sofia! 😊
I love your studio vlogs! picking up tips is just a nice bonus. Also love your slice of life videos - the road trip one was so good. Though give yourself more credit ( you are an expert! ) the YT culture of people pretending to be experts on a new thing every week or being expected to give advice just because they have a UA-cam channel is pretty silly - I like your realistic vibe
glad to hear! I hope to do more slice of life stuff
Love your videos!
Hermoso! muy bello vlog. sos divina . Saludos desde Argentina
💛🥰
Hola!!! Me encanta lo que háces me parece un trabajo hermoso :) Yo estoy iniciando mi emprendimiento de encuadernación y tu trabajo es realmente muy inspirador. Muchas gracias :)
Hello!!! I love what you do, I think it's a beautiful job :) I'm starting my bookbinding business and your work is really very inspiring. Thank you very much :)
thanks Johana! 😊
♥️ 💕❣️
🤗🌹🍁🌹❤️🤗
this may be a repetitive question but what types of paper do you use in terms of whether its mixed media, watercolor and etc..?
As a book binding novice, the odd tutorial can be helpful but often just watch how someone got through the process is very useful. You most recent video tutorial was very useful but just watching your work flow is also lovely and relaxing.possible you could add odd tips in (either with voice or text) I’m am curious how you work out the amount of thread a book would need. I personally don’t enjoy full ASMR as I find the volume of them are often too loud for my ear but your no music, no voice video are the perfect volume for the activity to be calm without it being overwhelming (I’m autistic so that might be the reason, I’m incredibly noise sensitive).
hello hello, just dropping a comment to say your shop link in your bio leads to the wrong page, still your website so I could still find the shop! but I thought I'd let you know!!!
ty!! I fixed it
Hello! I'm here in Los Angeles....May I ask where you got your transparent healing cutting board? and what size is it? I need a bigger one like that.......btw I always watch your videos...they give me inspiration to work on my crafts. thank you.
24 x 36 from Blick!
@@bittermelonbindery thank you so much!
Please make more ASMR videos. Thank you.

Hello, I love watching your videos. Can you add Turkish subtitles please?
Hey Elif, does it work if you turn on English captions and then select auto-translate to Turkish? Let me know if that works.
@@bittermelonbindery I'm really sorry. Unfortunately what you said didn't work. There is no Turkish option in automatic translation.
@@elif_yuceturk Okay thanks for letting me know, I will try to find a solution and get back to you
I dream of a private lesson with you but I don't speak much ;-)
