for anyone wondering, these things run for well over 6 figures. 120k range.
What a great offroad RV with all the conveniences of home. The old Born Free RV's would be perfect for these conversions. They are built more like a boat with a fiberglass one piece top shell joined to the fiberglass bottom shell with full roll cage bars built into the RV which would help withstand any twisting issues off road. Wonder how these stick built (aluminum) box style RV's will handle the off road roughness. Great job!
Thank you! Agreed on the Born Frees, I wish they were still in business so I could get something newer than 2017! Even so, the sleeping arrangement is kinda unorthodox, similar to a BT Cruiser 5210 (like the one we built in another video.) Phoenix Cruiser is constructed similarly, but the market for $200k+ 4x4 is obviously more limited. Ultimately, I'd like to build the Peakpounder brand into a manufacturer with a box built specifically for overlanding at a reasonable price, definitely not $400k+ like other adventure rig manufacturers. That is the dream anyway!
@@peakpounder4x4rvBased on the fact that there's quite a few types of companies that fit what you're looking to accomplish, translates into there being buyers for such a vehicle!
You would need to look at how current companies, such as Global Expedition, Earth Roamer, Earth Cruiser, 27North, Story Teller Vans, Wilderness Vans, etc.etc. are building their vehicles, what truck foundation they're going with (Ford E-450 and higher is the market leader IMHO) and then figure out how PeakPounder would be different...aka "Finding your Unique Selling Point"...
If you could keep the final price UNDER $250K (+/-) and stay profitable, I really believe your dream would come true faster than you might believe! 🙂

Biggest problem right off the Bat....its a Forest River. They build everything with a 3 yr lifespan...offgassing from all the obs strandboard and pressed board...the windows will leak as soon as you drive it off the lot...the roof seams shrink and leak yr 2.

Man it breaks my heart the way things are but we are definitely under that 150 mark. Our builds start at 90k. Brand new, this model would be $135-155k depending on the deal we can find on the base RV.

Hey Jeff! I believe the hitch rating was 5000 pounds so as not to exceed 18000 pound GCWR. Chassis rated for 8500. MPG was between 8-11MPG fully loaded, hand calculated from Oregon to Florida. Next build will likely be E450 for folks with heavier towing needs. Let me know if you want to talk about it!

5K on this one. We are planning an E450 build next for those needing more towing power.
Does it come in diesel?
Anything is possible! They used to come with 6.0 and previously 7.3 Powerstroke, so I’d say we could swap one. The question I have is “why?” If “because” is the answer, then let’s get started!
Not because...deisel is better priced and your range is longer, i know a deisel engine is heavier but when towing, it gives you more options.
@@wills2651 I think pricing is extremely location dependent, diesel is at least 40 cents a gallon more than gas in Detroit right now, similar in Florida. I will give you west coast prices as being close to equal, but gas prices were nearly 1.5x that of back home last time we rode through NorCal. Will not argue on which is more economical, but for my family, the increase in space and comfort is more than worth not being relegated to a comparatively tiny Sprinter. Having to step up to a $200k Super C that I still need to modify is not even in the picture. Speaking purely from the perspective of feature to value, it’s hard to beat a converted small class C… but different strokes for different folks! Thanks for checking us out!

Hey Ney, pricing starts around 90k! Yes, 30-amp cable is included with 50A adapter and 15-amp adapter to charge at home. Air conditioning in this one was 15K BTU, I believe, it worked amazingly! This one is sold btw.

I hear you and while I would argue we have to focus on the exterior because it’s what changes the most, what makes the vehicle more capable and what most differentiates the vehicle from a thousand others just like it, I am going to see if we can get Brandi to do a separate interior tour video for our next two builds; she may not go for it but I will try! If they didn’t say it means they wasted all this on a gas engine vehicle.
7.3L Godzilla V8. E-series cutaway has been gas only for a long time, we could maybe make a 6.7 work, but it would be at quite a premium over this one and without factory powertrain warranty.

Stabilizer hangs to low u would snag it on rocks
Stabilizer is not a custom setup, run on lifted F-Series trucks for years and I believe the same drop as the factory stabilizer.

Spare is underneath. We did not do a full size spare on this one, but you're right, about $500 for a spare setup. We are working on something different for a bumper mount carrier.

Appreciate the view Mike, but you couldn't be more wrong. Price is clearly disclosed in the comments and 4x4 is covered by 12 months / 12k mile warranty (RV industry standard.) We fix all factory issues and address all outstanding maintenance items. This one is sold, so somebody was ok with the price 🙂

Conversion is covered for 12 months / 12000 miles. Buying great RVs and making them perfect while adding 4x4 and otherwise upfitting for real adventure is what we do! Surely, you can see from our other videos that this is the case. Why the hostility, why the hate? This is how we make our living.

RVs are poorly constructed garbage. If you buy a Sprinter you could use it all year round and it won’t be a rolling pile of mold in 5 years.
I appreciate the views, but wish I could change your mind sir. We correct every factory issue and address any maintenance item we find on these. We love them and this is our livelihood.
I posted a video of a Jayco trailer that we rented and it shocking how bad the construction is. Killed my desire for an RV quickly.
@@Sixxiron you take the good with the bad, we fix the stuff we can and have definitely found some surprises left over from the factory. Undeniably, any rig we put our name behind leaves our care better than we found it.

Looks great! Too bad it’s a Ford. It’ll be broken down getting fixed at the dealership more than in use. American made junk.
Chassis and driveline are capable. The unit itself would rattle itself apart within a year...if you're using it on backroads and forest service roads. The construction is garbage. If you're gonna use it for 4 season travel and the chance of bad weather, then I can see it's application there in getting you in and out or to and from during winter weather.
