It seems what upset the judge so much was the son's cavalier phrasing. I don't think the son was intentionally trying to be disrespectful. It seems to me that the boy is trying to do that thing teenagers the world over (and sadly, some adults who never grew out of it) always do-- gloss over his mistakes. I don't speak Spanish, but all of the comments from Spanish-speakers keep saying that the mother was asking for clarification and was very polite-- and that the court translator made some mistakes as well. It really is tough living in a country where you don't speak the language very well, if at all. I spent some time living abroad and the kindness and patience of the locals genuinely humbled me, so I'm very strongly of the opinion that we should all be a bit nicer and more patient with people who don't speak English. Judge Caprio's perception of the situation is based on what the son said to him-- that she was asking for more leniency than she was already getting, and that she was unappreciative of that leniency. I think that he was beginning to piece together that something got lost in translation (even if he didn't know exactly what) towards the end of the video, as he does seem to be calming down. And, unlike many other judges who can be very petty at even the slightest hint of defiance, he did not throw the book at her. He kept to the lower payment. "Tell her that I think she's received enough of a break that I am not reducing it any more." - that is tough, but fair. And, again, he is clearly under the impression that she was asking for even MORE of a break (which, from the various other commenters, it seems like that is not what she was asking). Not to mention the switching of the registration plates -- something that was not even mentioned to her, even though it played a fairly big role in setting up the judge's perception of the situation. (The judge went into this interaction with the assumption that there was an attempt to deceive the Court.) While it can be grating to have someone lecture you on how to raise your own children, I do appreciate the fact that he did not throw the book at her for her son's mistakes.
I didn’t get that does they change the registration plates or they have three different cars? If they have three different cars then the Judge has to say sorry as he misjudged them.

(The judge went into this interaction with the assumption that there was an attempt to deceive the Court.)
While it can be grating to have someone lecture you on how to raise your own children, I do appreciate the fact that he did not throw the book at her for her son's mistakes.
I'm mad the interpreter was nervous and was not accurately interpreting amounts. I was expecting more from her
Okay, the kid wasnt translating at the judges' orders, but then the OFFICIAL translator says the number wrong??? hello??
The judge was the one who said the number wrong. He says it wrong near the end.
Nah I’m sorry you need a better interpreter. She with held Information for both sides . I’m tired of seeing people do this in courts . It sucks .
Love this judge 😢
Finally finally finally..... Hell yeah..
a judge who actually carries honor.
I didn’t get that does they change the registration plates or they have three different cars? If they have three different cars then the Judge has to say sorry as he misjudged them.
Caprio for president 2024!! If not at least a justice on the SCOTUS.
Where tf they get that translator? She didn’t translate anything right 😂
I'm a moroccan born and raised never been to an English county and still i can do better job at that interpretation.y si hablo español porque vivo en España.
good one.
The judge said the fine was $1,115 and the interpreter said $1,130
Every mother wants to love and help their child. But once the child starts to take advantage of your kindness, is time to change up the strategy. Good kids make good adults. Keep this boy on a short leash for awhile
I laughed looking at the teenage frowning in the background 😂
Is it Mrs Rodriguez or ms Rodriguez. Asking for myself.
Little A-rod needs an attitude adjustment…hopefully she puts the hammer down on him and makes him pay for the tickets.
Good job judge
Judge Caprio was definitely fair to this woman DESPITE this case being her "son's" fault because he was the one getting the tickets!!
First off, this kid walks in and folds his arms as if in "defense mode" and with an attitude of "idgaf if she has to pay my tickets" and that's the problem right there!! So it shows that HE is being spoiled and "enabled!!" His a** needs to get a job and take responsibility for HIS f'kups!! LOVE Judge Caprio's advice, hope she takes it!!
first of all he wasn't obeying to the judge. snd bcoz of him his mom is facing this crisis. best judgment he should get a job and pay it. instant and perfect judgment. awesome judge ♥️
Respected judge I am an Indian,,,,, God bless you,,,,,,
Most desire in my life is meet this wonderful personality
I dont like how so many comments are against the mother...
If a judge tells your son that's "translating" for you to sit and they get another person to translate what the judge is saying TO you then you don't even need to ask if the kid is lying at that point.
She speaks English . When the judge was first explaining that it’ll be 400 , without her son even translating anything , she responded
I agree, it is very common that hispanics learn english (it is a necessity) but they never speak it because they are afraid to pronounce it wrong and to say the wrong thing.
It’s funny to listen to this when you are bilingual because you can spot the mistakes even with the interpreter
Todos los Dominicanos buscamos descuentos. Por qué?
The freaken interpreter have the wring amount Judge:$1,115 DLLs Inter: $1,130dlls. Last break- mmm último chance, thats not even a word - es la última oportunidad que te da. Lol 😹
He did her a HUGE favor, those 450 dollars hurts and she will struggle to pay it, but that 1100 would be devastating. She needs to have a serious talk with his son.
