Yall lying,JSU got their own traditional cadences! The Boom been playing their cadences since the 70's!BD Haughton along with band members created JSU's cadences.Better do some research!
I had to stop Central State University from playing UAPB cadences back in 06' because Jason Shelton our "Percussion Instructor" was teaching us them. But cecause I heard them before I went back home and look at some tapes I had... Come to find out I had a tape with UAPB playing these exact cadences and guess who was section leader back on there none other than Jason Shelton...smh (lol small world...But not so small we gotta take from each other.) I was piss and told my section leader immediately. We didn't play them pass the marching season.
Chester Diagle your comment is incorrect! What hbcu do you play for? Do you know who Johnny Lane is? Find the correlation between him & a lot of hbcu drum sections, then you'll realize how dumb your comment was!
What does it matter? No idea is truly original. There's nothing new under the sun. Because HBCU's drumlines are so competitive, material will sound similar when guys are trying to "best" each other. If you know your history on rudimental drumming in America, you would know that SU nor JSU is not that "original" either.
Loved playing this in high school we called it tsu or txu in Shreveport

Almost every Highschool babd in New Orleans plays the first cadence
christopher wilson yountalking about number 2 and ricky
For those who said that those cadences are stolen are stupid. ..they been playing those March in cadences since the early 9th
That second cadence sounds like my high school band challenge cadence a bit, but its different.
if anybody agrees sounds like uapb for most part.
Why does it feel like everybody plays that part at 1:22 ? Pine Bluff runs the exact same cadence in their sequence.
Who steals from UAPB? Lol smh nobody cares about the bluff!
I do because that's my home town and I bet people that came from pine bluff or went to uapb can tell you that they use that before and I know.
