Today we are back giving some thoughts and impressions on the Polarstar Kythera HPA engine. I personally love my system and setup. But that being said the HPA engine does have some issues being that it s mechanical. Lets discuss.

I'm in Canada and my local field is semi only so this is going to be a game changer (once my wallet recovers from covid)
Haha I hear you bro!! Same thing here too ✌🏻
My field allows full auto soooooooo....... brrrrrttttttt.
The Kythera isn’t as spammable as a Jack or similar engine (cause it has a mechanical trigger) so one of those engines may still be the better choice for you if you like to feather
@@OctaneGroup sadly I don’t have the money😭
@@kraken_tactical you guys should make a video on AEG and GBB maintenance, I think that would help out a lot of the viewers including myself
The biggest issue with the Kythera right now is simply getting ahold of one. They are just hard to find right now.
I got mine from a friend who bought it and just never got around to installing it. He wasn't into it, so I traded him a fully built MP5A4. He got something he wanted and I got the Kythera.
It's now in my G&P BPRE inspired M4. I just added a MAXX Model ME hop unit and a Lambda 01 363mm barrel to it. HOLY COW! That was a great improvement! I had to lower my reg by 25PSI to keep the gun field legal. I only had to top off my tank once this past weekend. And even then it wasn't much of a fill. Better accuracy, range, air seal and efficiency.. Yeah, I'll take all of that!
Also loving my Kythera.
Awesome bro! Glad your enjoying yours! That’s awesome! I’ll have to look into the maxx hop up for mine as well! 👌🏻
I can find em all day
I purchased a kythera last week, and it's really the perfect HPA engine for me. I've never been a fan of full auto in airsoft, but after my worst experience in airsoft ever, when a guy came running around a corner and absolutely lit up me and six other guys who were all already tagged out with a full auto polarstar from less than 5m away, and I had to spend the rest of the day getting my sister to rub numbing cream on my back for all the bruises, I vowed to never use full auto in airsoft ever. Removed the function from all the guns I own that had it. If I'm imparting half the pain I felt from that dude whenever I use it, then I'd rather not use it at all. So the kythera being locked to semi, as well as being compatible with gas stocks so I don't have to carry around a backpack, I'm really enjoying it so far.
I really like your professional video style! Only thing I would have liked to see is a small shooting montage. I'd like to see how fast you can shoot it and also what it sounds like.
I finally took the plunge to go the hpa route with the kythera. Just got my tank, reg and line now just waiting for evike to fulfill my pre order soon . Can’t wait
Nice bro!!! Super exciting time!! Congrats 👌🏻
@@kraken_tactical thanks man! Yeah I’m super excited just sucks that evike is taking so long to fulfill my order lol
I know that most fields and events i go to straight up ban full auto (with some minor exceptions), and I think that the place it would really shine is with DMR's. They have to be mechanically locked to semi anyway, so I think the Kythera's perfect for that
This is built for the milsim crowd hands down. Can’t really feather it
Never owned an HPA before, maybe I’ll give Kythera a try, love the edits byway!
Yeah man it’s definitely a fun one to mess with 🤙🏻 really appreciate it bro!! 👌🏻
just buy a jack it’s not that much more expensive
That meme at 22 seconds was absolutely fantastic.
Great video! Love the editing style!
Really appreciate it man! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I have one installed in my VFC 416a5, and it's such a fantastic shooter.
If you want a HPA DMR this is the unit for you. It's already semi-locked so you don't need to worry about that. They are supposed to come out with the select fire and full auto version eventually and I know that a mechanical of HPA system that does full auto with no FCU can be done because it has been done with companies like lancer tacical (i know qc issues) and Tippmann.
Couldn’t agree more!! Definitely excited to see the future of this engine ✌🏻
Yeah let's just forget mancraft made the perfect dmr hpa drop in kits years ago called the PDIK 🤦
There is Gen.2 out there, that also uses closed Bolt and a Nozzle that can be adjusted in length ^^'
The Polarstar Kythera in a gearboxshell😃
Hi Kraken. nicely wrapped up all about Kythera, which got me going into HPA. One question, did you notice a noticable "refresh rate" with your kythera, compared to your SSG1 ? (refresh rate on the reg seems to be very slow, for example when going 5-6 rps, the psi drops about 15-20 and fps the same. While F2 or other "batery powered" engine can go over 20 rps without noticable drop in PSI). Seems to me like a "design" thing, since kythera is mechanical.
scrips are better, Ive noticed you repeating urself in the past and did think to myself that you might not be organizing ur thoughts beforehand (only on 1-2 videos)
PS: do u plan on making velcro patches? a bit like TheSlaughterProject.. id be very cool to rep Kraken on my carrier
Great point! I can defienlty whip up some velcro patches!
Honestly, just do whatever you feel like! I'm still going to watch your videos as long! hahaah Good work
Really appreciate it man!! More on the way 🤙🏻
Awesome video!
The Mancraft PDiK is also fully mechanical and it's even cheaper.
Nice!! I’ve never heard of that, I’ll have to look into it 🤙🏻
Are they cheaper? I always thought they were in the $300 range compared to $275
@@MarineSniper26 In the EU, yes. They're made in EU.
@@MarineSniper26 roughy £200 for a PDIK with gearbox shell included 👍
Yes, but the mechanical system is totally not realistic... while Kythera has the real feeling of real gun...
I just bought a kythera and I am going to the field next Saturday so I cant wait. Also they need to include the allen key for the screws in the box, because I can’t do any of the adjustments until my allen key set from amazon comes.
We. Need. Longer. Vids.
The content too good!
hey quick question what HPA regulator and tank do you use for the kythera keep up the good work
Great question I use the amped airsoft SLP Regulator and amped 38/3000psi tank👌🏻
@@kraken_tactical thank you Soo much
Great video! Is this compatible with a gearbox that previously used an fcu? Will thee trigger still work?
You live under a rock!
That thumbnail tho I love your face in it lol
Haha thanks bro 😂😂😂
Only two things that prevent me from getting HPA
1. I don’t like bringing scuba tank to a game
2. Frequent lubing
On which both can be easily solved if I am not lazy
My field is semi-locked, so this is prolly the best way to go for me tbh
I have a kythera in my gun, so i was able to drill out a hole in my full buttstock and put a switch in so i can turn my internal tracer unit on and off whenever I need to. Its going to be finished litterally tomorrow because the Maxx hopup is getting here, i had the wrong maxx hopup in it so i bought a new one, it was an MI and my rifle is not an ICS so i bought the newer one, the M4P which are made for HPA rifles.
hey kraken!!! not sure if you will see this, but i need some help! im really curious to how you ran the charging cable on this gun. i noticed that the charging handle is completely gone, and the cable isnt running out of the grip. where is yours running to? you have to pull the cable everytime you put a new mag in, so i was wondering how you did it.
I love the Kythera ran an entire day of suppressing fire on a couple tanks of 64ci
I run Polarstar jack and love it but redline n7 Milsim and kythera have been in grabbing my eye lately.
For sure bro! All solid stuff! Kythera is a good time ✌🏻
@@kraken_tactical that trigger does have a tasty sound on the kythera lol great video, I like your product reviews videos very helpful man keep it up 🤙🏻
Hey kraken would you recommend the polarstar jack?
Definitely! Love mine!
@@kraken_tactical wow you replied didn't expect that! I've been deciding if I want to go with the jack or the f2 now I know the f2 is better but how much better would you say?
Late to the party but looking to do a DMR build with this. Is it worth it for that system, or should I shell out the extra cash for a Jack?
I had a kythera installed in a TM PSG-1.
Had to machine a gearbox to fit inside the PSG and had a custom nozzle made and a custom trigger machined
How well has this unit held up other the years have you had any major issues with it and does it get a a lot of use
I’m making a dmr so all these are positively good things along with how quiet it is
Honestly I like the kythera better than any other hpa engine and it is cheaper so win-win.
I prefer tankless polarstar
33g cgs on mine. Everyone just thinks it's a normal aeg until they don't hear it shoot lol
Can the kythera run in water? I heard it's mechanical but I just want to know if it'd get damaged in water. Also i don't really care bout the bucking getting wet.
Yeah I assume it probably could, I’m never gonna try that but I’m sure someone has 😂👍🏻
@@kraken_tactical thanks cause i aint tryna bring my aeg out in the cali rain 😂😂😂
@@minecraftjedi033more3 As long as your ETU, ASCU, ... stuff is waterresistent, there is no point to worry about.
Got one early on, the adjustment and fitment in the gun build took a long time to get just right. But the air efficiency was awesome with a 13ci stock-tank
What type of gearbox shell do you have it in? Wondering if it will fit well in my G&G gearbox...
Should fit no problem 👌🏻 I have it in my g&p shell so they are basically the same ✌🏻
@@kraken_tactical do you know if this would fit a VM4A1 2.5 gearbox
Another nice video my friend.👍👍👍
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
@@kraken_tactical anytime my friend.👍
While they are certainly more work, there just isn’t anything like a perfectly tuned, perfectly air sealed, buttery smooth aeg with a precocked gate titan and a binary trigger. Nothing.
Hey fair enough bro! Totally understand that 👌🏻👍🏻
Keeps it simple! 👍
100%!!
The Kythera seems quite fine to me with nice features, but it would feel like an downgrade from my current engine:
The Raven.
To describe it in one sentence: A Jack with the effiency of the F2. Only one solenoid valve and a nozzle that is powered by another electro magnetical coil.
Would I recommend it? Definetly nothing for Beginners, it has it´s own soul and needs special treatment. Besides that only 65 Engines were build ^^'.
So thanks for the great video and I´m very glad you found, what suits you.
EDIT: The Raven also features a Nozzle that can be adjusted in length.
I bought the jack a couple days ago but I really wanna try the realistic trigger break and stuff in the kythera
New to HPA, just picked up a prebuilt kythera inside an mcx. Attached my line & tank and I'm noticing a leak, right off the bat any troubleshooting recommendations ? Big thanks everyone 👍
I am using the kythera swell, unfortunately my combination of kythera v2 and maxx me pro isnt hopping consistent. do you have an idea how to fix this?
The Kythera is hella accurate, that's all that matters really.
Have you seen the mod where you attach the cocking wire of the kythera to the charging handle on your rifle?
I just got a redline N7 milsim because I wanted a build with no electronics and more importantly no stock at all
And as you said.. when you play semi-only anyways, you're not missing out on too many features realy
Exactly bro!! Couldn’t agree more ✌🏻
Did u make that lightning affect?
Hey I'm a younger player I play at an outdoor field and I was wanting to get your opinion if I should get a polarstar jack or kythera price doesn't matter
I have a 7 inch cqb ish build
Hey there! If price doesn’t matter I would definitely go with a jack 👍🏻
what is the gun at 1:41 and great vid
An arp9
such an odd feeling to see a nerf raider with a hopper feed system x hpa system, its like a mix of the silver age of nerf modding to the golden age.
You left put how quiet it is with a suppressor, big plus
Hi, I have a question, if you have a gun with a long barrel (509mm or more / bit less) could you try to see what fps you get on 140psi and also what joules its possible to get on 0.4g bb? I was considering it for DMR and I would need 2.8J.
Wolverine Reaper Gen2 mechanical, cheaper, also no battery or fcu, and you can spam the trigger which you can't do with the Kythera
still waiting for the FULL AUTO version.
dude i just got one for Christmas and i can’t get it to work with mr arp9. it’s like the trigger won’t reach all the way to shoot. PLEASE HELP
What are your thoughts on the Tippmann M4 V2? Fully mechanical for $399.
Tippmann did go insolvent last year though.. so not sure about replacement parts etc
Yeah definitely not a huge fan of Tippmann to be totally honest ✌🏻
The tippmann m4 v2 is probably the best combination of hpa, gbb, and aeg. With the heavy bolt it kicks as hard as a Dayton, with a tdc it shoots just as accurate as any aeg would, internally regulated, and mine has gone through thousands of shots with no breaks. Cant reccomend it enough as all it needs is a new barrel and bucking to be competitive out of the box. For those who haven't tried it, you dont know what your missing
@@jhqtech Maybe air Effieceny? xD
Most of the time I play with a 12ci/3000psi which gives me around 1000 shots at ~280fps w/0.36g BBs. There´s need for me to carry a huge tank around.
I dont get this.. It still costs a fortune to get into HPA even if you get this engine. Cause you still need to buy the hose, regulator and tank.
Hello I have a question I have a bout a 8 inch inner barrel and polar star jack and I was wondering how I could get like straighter lines or tighter groupings when full autoing at 60rps?
So close can you do a rushin load out PlEaSe!
Still really want one of these for my LCT G3 after trying to make it a "perfect" DMR while still being an AEG. It was really nice to begin with, but it didn't seem to like the Retro Arms stuff 😅
Haha fair enough bro! That would be sooo dope!!
@@kraken_tactical Right? It would solve all the problems for a reasonable price tag 🤔
...nevermind the Midwest Industries handguard that's about as expensive, but hey it's all about the fashion tbh 😅
what kind ja of reg do u use. lpa or does it handle hpa regs. can i reuse my paintball tank with kythera?
I believe you will be fine with just about any regulator but I’d do some more research first. I personally use a SLP regulator from amped airsoft 🤙🏻
2:57 Running a fully upgraded GHK and missing all you shots because of recoil.
man i wish i was having the same experience. mine has just been going through the same troubleshoot checklist over and over and every third shot still not feeding, with polarstar telling me its my mags when ive used every mag imaginable, even the upgraded spring PTS'. I want to like this engine for how easy it was to put in my gun, but its just not giving me the performance i want, that being atleast feeding every round lol.
Make sure it doesn't move in your gearbox polarstar star said if the engine moves in your gearbox it can cause feeding issues.
@@assassin309 I've checked like a million times, there's no movement man. That's what's bugging me like I don't know what's causing the feeding issues.
I like my kythera but it was frustrating to set it up
Can you convert a AEG to HPA with thr kythera using co2 capsules??
Dont be fooled! Wolverine were the first ones with affordable HPA with the SMP and Polarstar has been playing catch-up ever since. This Kythera unit however looks to have set them ahead again.
how tf did you misspell negative
what rail is that at 1:47 ?
kythera:275-90
p* Jack:330-40
everyone: a small price, for BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRt
Haha totally fair 😂😂👌🏻
Will it go into an g&g ssg-1
Yes definitely!
I prefer a wireless polerstar
I prefer a tankless polarstar
😂😂😂👌🏻
How could u do 60 rps if it's only semi
Does it work with a scar
Not too sure, you likely will need a scar nozzle
Is it good for speed qb or nah?
probably not

How can I find a way to make my life a better thing? Is airsoft a Job.?
I almost bought a 60 rps jack setup with tank for 500 dollars.

When will people give the v12 the attention it deserves 😔 if you are willing to sit down and learn for 5 minutes how it works u will see that all parts from a fusion engine are compatible😐
Unless you do milsimI don’t recommend it. You can’t really feather it and if you’re worried about cost but want hpa get a jack. They shot great on semi and you can feather. I run a F2 in a krytac spr but I know that costs about twice as much. I like the F2 but the jack great. The kythera I’m not a fan but im not stopping you.
Kythera in my opinion is bad honestly and the only thing it has a advantage in is being able to swim with your gun
Reefing!!!
😂😂😂
Bruh what’s the point of the hpa when I can make aeg’s that are better in every way cheaper
I think there’s a factor of “do it yourself” appeal with HPA, because personally it’s a lot easier to service an hpa engine than it is to service an AEG unless you’re experienced at AEG teching. I would also argue that it’s not exactly cheaper to build an AEG that would perform on par with certain hpa builds, but it’s not necessarily more expensive either I suppose
@@JuggernautHunter02 you can just hire someone for a rly affordable price. I just did a build for $200 and it out preforms hpa
And I’m about to do a dsg for $96 - 184 that will either do 40 rps or 55 rps
@@wontonedits6166 oooh interesting, may I ask the parts list?
@@wontonedits6166 but also, sometimes it’s hard finding someone that charges reasonable prices yknow? I happen to have a reliable and cheap tech but not everyone does
It’s $40 cheaper than a p* jack v3…………
Valken v12 is the best hpa on a budget. Prove me wrong
I wasn’t a huge fan of it but they are pretty good
Valken v12 is a really good starter hpa system.
Lol if I l get a hpa system I am fat and slow so having a line and a tank on my back would kill me
id never buy one
Why?
Mancraft is cheaper and a better product
It's also easy to install
mfw I'm german ... no fa no problems
Second I heard you recommend using locktite on stuff you lost credibility from me. Manufacturers for ANYTHING with screws use it far to liberally and it annoys the fuck out of most people so let alone yourself putting a spot too much on 🤣 not living with that self fuck up.
1:43 what is the deal with you guys and your damn elbows… that is not a good shooting stance yet all you folks do this… smdh … tuck that elbow in and tighten up your stance.
Mancraft is better
Is it? I'm thinking about both, the PDIK and the kythera. why do you think it's better?
