Gamepad : I always have it plugged so it's not a problem.
Cables : Well that's not only about the Wii U then.
Name : The name is totally fine it's just the trailer that only showed the Wii U Gamepad featuring it as a new controller.
Dawg, never EVER use the first argument for any mobile device manufacturers. Or else they'll find a way to justify shitty batteries someday, because... you know, you could just keep your device plugged the whole time?

@@ilikelemonheads101 The Wii U Gamepad battery is already shizz to begin with. In fact, it's probably the worst I've seen in any device. The only thing that would help out, is a bigger battery, but I kinda doubt that someone manufactured that for a console that failed in first place. Plus, I don't understand why the Wii U Gamepad loses battery so fast when it isn't even turned on. Like, let it rest there for 2 weeks without charging and the battery is empty.

It's a home console. It's not meant to be played in another room. That would be cool, but it's not needed. Also, you can plug it into your car and you'll be smooth sailing for a long car ride.
That's because it's not a handheld console. If you want to do that with a console, get a Nintendo Switch.

The worst thing about it was the time period between 1st party releases and the lack of 3rd party support
Honestly, I don't see the appeal of buying a Third Party title on a console, unless it's exclusive to it, which only occurs on Nintendo Consoles. Pretty much every third party title that exists is available on steam or somewhere else on PC, and often modded for Android as well.
The Wii U, despite not having as many third party releases as other consoles, had the advantage of being more flexible with gameplay due to the second screen, and as a result, received high quality games which were purely exclusive to the Wii U, and were in HD.
Despite this strength, the main reason why Nintendo's consoles have appeal is due to innovation, first party games and cheap price that other consoles can't always match.
I own a WiiU and it’s a fantastic device, especially when you have a homebrewed one. Remember that great titles such as Mario kart 8 deluxe and new super Mario u deluxe are just ported games from the WiiU. If Nintendo had announced the console right , I think that it would be much populair:
The 3DS charging port, despite looking like a proprietary connector, was actually inspired from an obscure usb standard, called the USB mini 4B
I lot of people don't realize that overcharging your devices will affect the performance of the battery. Regulated charge times are not given to devices for no reason.
The device tends to stop accepting charge after hitting 100%

People complaining about the name always annoyed me. The 3DS is named in the exact same way, it’s the fact that Nintendo only showed off the gamepad and rarely talked about the actual System that lead to confusion
That's true. I recently got a Wii U to try out the original Splatoon, that was made for it. Even if I leave my game pad charging for hours it WILL shut down in the exact same moment when I take the charger away. It's kind of an annoying thing, but since I only play it at home and the charger I bought is super long it isn't way too annoying

I remember my mom showing me a WiiU announcement on Facebook and when we eventually got the WiiU for Christmas, this is easily one of my favourite consoles because of the game pad
The DS being my all time favourite, the WiiU gamepad allowed me to play so many games HANDHELD, which I love, also having 3 other members in my house , it was difficult to play when I wanted to on any other console, so being able to play on the gamepad , and have other people use the TV was absolutely amazing, I also played it plugged in because the charger was right beside where I would sit, perfect combination, can forgive the low quality screen ( playing plugged in made the screen brighter too )
You can use 1080p on the Wii U if you change it in settings. 720p is just a default to fit all screens
I'm surprised you didn't bring up the region lock, which was more of a problem for users in Middle East and Southeast Asia as they all got U region consoles and games with American localisations in games instead of E region consoles and games with British localisation in games. That might've just been me nitpicking as I'd sometimes travel to Australia which did get E region Nintendo systems, if I recall correctly, and then come back to Singapore which got U region Nintendo systems.
And the fact that it could just randomly one day have the connection radius break. And you would have to sit right next to the dock to even play it. This happened to me and it sucked. And it's not even my fault, it just randomly happened, like a red ring of death situation.
basically if you didn't charge your gamepad for a week you had to charge it again omfg

fun fact: the ends are all the same. its the cords' length and color that are different iirc. i know its the same for the 3ds and gamepad but dont know about the pro controller
I honestly had no idea the Wii u existed until a few years after it's initial release
Nintendo actually sold a first party replacement battery for the Wii U gamepad to rectify the issue of battery life, and I'm pretty sure that there would probably be a mod for the Wii U gamepad, 3ds, and Wii U pro controllers that replaces their charging ports with USB C.
Yeah, they could make the 3ds, gamepad, and pro controller use the same charger, if they wanted to ruin everyone's gamepads, 3ds's, and pro controllers with the wrong voltages
The gamepad lasts for a good while and like any normal person I charge it when I'm not using it

the different cables are probably to prevent you from putting them in a different device, because they all use different power.
The Wii U GamePad, Pro Controller and the 3DS may have different charging cables, but they all somehow look the same, which probably meant that Nintendo might have had plans to make them all the same
The battery in the Wii U pad was like the Nintendo switch controller batteries, when u use them them they last awhile but lose charge after a week of no use, only the Wii U died even faster like not even 3hrs for me in most cases
The worst thing about the Wii U for me is some games dosent support Wiimotes so im forced to charge my gamepad for hours
What?! A console designed with two joysticks, four top buttons and 10 buttons on the front can’t be played on an old controller that has 8 buttons and no joystick?!
And a wireless device has to be charged?!

I like most things about the Wii, but the battery is one thing I don’t like. I have to keep it plugged in 24/7. If I ever unplug it, it would die in about 20 seconds.
the wii u gamepad literally juat uses the same connector as the dsi and 3ds to charge except it's wider, they were so lazy they just reused that design but made it wider to make the chargers incompatible
The Wii U’s sales pitch and name killed if if it was the Nintendo game pad or something goofy like that they could easily double in sales

The only reason for the wii u battery life is the battery itself that is degrading and needs a replacement you can buy a bigger battery for the wii u and it'll last longer
Honestly my least favorite thing about the Wii U is more of a hardware issue on my end, but I cannot take my gamepad even 3 feet away from the console without it disconnecting, I know this is most likely because my MICA2 Logic Board is Faulty

Nintendo was top of line back in the 1980's but ever since they have been dead last in the console wars. First mistake was backing out the deal with Sony opting to do their own cd console with small cd so that they could still make smaller games with less cintenr than the competition.

The Wii U GamePad battery is literally a cordless phone battery. There are upgraded batteries all over eBay that will get you 6-8 hours of gameplay.
The Wii U Pro Controller batteries last up to 80 hours. I can't remember the last time I had to charge those controllers.
3DS isn't a worst thing about Wii U- that's a completely different system. This screams of a lack of complaints, and the need to make one up for a UA-cam short.
The "Wii accessory" trend didn't come from the name- it came from Adam Sessler, who perpetuated this at E3 2011 when it was announced. He claimed that Nintendo didn't call it a new console when a cursory glance of the presentation will show it was mentioned as a "new console" and "new system" multiple times.
The truth is more people didn't know Wii U EXISTED than people being "confused" by this made up talking point.
