More About Quantum Leap: Quantum Leap is an American science-fiction television series that originally aired on NBC for five seasons, from March 1989 through May 1993. Created by Donald P. Bellisario, it starred Scott Bakula as Dr. Sam Beckett, a physicist who leaps through spacetime during an experiment in time travel, by temporarily taking the place of other people to correct historical mistakes. Dean Stockwell co-stars as Admiral Al Calavicci, Sam's womanizing, cigar-smoking companion and best friend, who appears to him as a hologram.

This is my favorite tv show of all time. Scott Bakula was perfect in this role. Got to see him and Dean Stockwell at DragonCon in 2010.
Also another great video you are doing a great job with these
Lucky
Sam Beckett is simply the greatest hero that’s ever been on television. A scientist who constantly gave all in the service of helping others. Whatta guy
He was an amazing character.
An interesting thing is that the end of the show makes Sam Beckett thd same as Jesus because he gives his life for the world.
That set aside, there are stronger heroes, but they all get to take a break.
Someone needs to leap back in time and stop these stupid executives from cancelling this amazing show.
Actually the last season was getting horrible.
@@mem1701movies Yeah, I do wish someone had gone back in time to get them to do a better ending, I just now finished watching every episode for the first time and that ending was most disappointing.
I remember reading that NBC wanted to add one of the Evil Leapers so that there was a woman on the show. NBC also cut the budget and it was a pretty expensive show to produce. Rather than make those changes, it ended. Or at least that was what the article I read stated.
@@PecanSandees23 it went like 8 seasons. You want to ruin it like the Simpsons and keep it going and going and going...
How has no one done a reboot of Quantum Leap yet?? I get the feeling Sam is still out there, leaping.
Good question brother. I'm sure it's on the way.
He definitely is.
yeah he's abourd the ENTERPRISE
Please do not. This series should live in infamy where it is. Someone will ruin it somehow
@@taurusthefool Exactly. Please no one ruin this wonderful show.
If you don't love Scott Bakula, you have no heart
That's when i fell in love with Scott just got 2 months ago a cat brother and sister and named the brother Sam
All someone has to do is mention the words “Quantum Leap” and I start humming the theme song in my head... well, sometimes aloud. LOL.
Sprechen Sie Deutsch? I Liked Quantum Leap a lot.
i love quantum leap my dad had such interesting choice in tv shows. he watched this and ex-files all the time.
Just any "Quantum" is enough. "Quantum of Solace", "Quantum Tunnel" etc. Got frickin teary-eyed watching this episode, my favorite show ever. I've written some fan-fic, bug hope it never gets continued or rebooted. Serenity Reboot will be a huge enough disaster.
For those of you who don't know, back in 2002 Dean Stockwell made a guest appearance as an alien colonel on Star Trek: Enterprise (with Bakula as Captain Archer of course).
Anthony Aymond - And you maybe don't know that the same occurs in "NCIS New Orleans"
i wish i could have gotten into that series but it sucked watchin him on there cause i just wanted scott(sam) to leap at the end of every episode so i eventually stopped watchin cause i missed him and al together
Less presenter more subject, I'm trying to talk my friend into watching quantum leap
This show was so dope.
Quantum Leap was absolutely wonderful. I hate that it didn't last as long as it should have.
Nope, the executives really hosed the cast and crew, and of course, the audience, by cancelling it like they did.
That, and shows like brimstone
It shouldve had at LEAST 7 yrs.
No time traveling show today can hold a candle to Quantum Leap.
Children, dogs, the insane, and developmentally challenged individuals could also see Al.
so...children, dogs, democrats and progressives
Really good show. It was a journey through history, with a new scenario every show. Good acting too.
I loved the finale.
I love that ultimately, Sam chose to use his power to help for the rest of his days.
One of my favorite shows growing up in the 80’s
Just recently bought this show on DVD. Introducing my girlfriend to it. We're almost halfway through. Great memories.
All eps are on Peacock free now.
Quantum Leap needed the six seasons and a movie.
Recently, in the reboot of Quantum Leap ,one of the characters Magic- mentioned that Sam saved he and the whole platoon during the Vietnam War. That was an Oh,Boy moment.
I love Quantum Leap. I love this woman. 💜
And yes, please do the Al rap! 🎶
Favourite episode for me has to be the first two episodes of series three. It wasn't exactly a two-parter in the conventional sense, but Sam leaped into his own body at the age of about thirteen and in the process of trying to guarantee a basketball coach a promotion by winning a high school game, does his best to save both his father (from a heart-attack), by trying to get him to stop smoking and eat more healthily (he fails utterly) and his beloved brother. (From an incident in Vietnam, where he's a Navy SEAL.) As the episode ends it appears he's failed in this last one too, but then he leaps about a year into the future, into the body of a Navy SEAL in his brother's squad. In the process of trying to save his brother from death he inadvertently prevents Al Calavicci from being rescued from a living hell as a prisoner of the Vietnamese, and (also inadvertently) gets a photo-journalist blown up in an explosion. However, he has altered her future so that she now gets a posthumous Pulitzer Prize (something she'd virtually lusted after) and his brother Tom gets to live.
Riven with guilt about the trade-off, Sam is trying to drink himself insensible in a bar with his squad-mates afterward and hears his brother whoop with joy when he notices it's turned midnight and it's now the day after his little brother predicted (in the previous episode) that he'd die.
'I'm still alive!' he says happily, and not a little drunkenly. He then drapes his arms round Sam's shoulder (who he's still supposed to be seeing as Magic, his squad-mate) and adds, '.... and it's all thanks to you, little brother!' There's a second or so for Sam to notice and do an amazed double-take at this, then, without any further catharsis, the blue and white light blazes and Sam is off to his next adventure....
I just watched those eps on Peacock. Sooooooo sweet.
Boogieman is my favorite episode im a huge stephen king fan and i love how he gives a young sk ideas for his books
Wait.... what kind of person dont like Crocodile Dundee?? lol what is wrong with you?
quantum leap greatest time travel show and sci fi period.
@theone Andonly she seems like that geek girl that knows 1 or 2 things and thinks she is special when she says she doesn't like harry potter
"Oh boy" it's been used regularly as a catch phrase by some characters on The Mandalorian series, including the mandalorian itself.
One of my all time favorites for a very long time, I'm leery about any kind of reboot cause I think the magic will be gone.
shock theatre is my ultimate favorite quantum leap episode i love the show so so much
If she's never heard of the show, shes to young for you bro.
Thanks to Comet tv for showing this series. Hopefully there could be a final scene where he comes out of the accelerator and see Donna. If you know who Donna is, you're a hardcore fan like me.
When the show first run I thought it would end back where Sam first leaped out. He changed history but no one else knew and due to the Swiss cheese effect he’d quickly forget and PROJECT QUANTUM LEAP deemed a failure and shutdown.
in French, Sam says "Oh Bravo" ... it became a classic to use ... Gosh I was a teenager when Quantum Leap was broadcast ... it arrived a bit later in France ... I was so sad about the end ! I got the chance to meet Scot during a convention in Germany some years ago - He's so adorable !
Sam & Al are for me one for the best Team !!! and the chemistry between Scott & Dean is real !
you are sooooo lucky to have met him!!!!! i'm glad he is nice , always felt that he was as nice as Sam that it was not all acting that he was that nice like Sam too ...even named my new kitten Sam ; )
My favorite: when he goes home with his younger sister and he plays "imagine" in the guitar. made me cry
That was a good episode and a good scene. It was though Pro-War Reaganeque Propaganda.
Oh boy! I love Quantum Leap! I hope one day it will continue with Sam's daughter Samantha from the novels!
You can watch all episodes FREE on NBC app
She's revealed in season 5 trilogy part 3.
@@visisydandthevoid she is??
2 reasons the show was a hit, bakula was not only compassionate to the actors' characters he interacted with (except for frowning at Al's conquests, which I also did), but bakula was fit & debatedly toned plus hairy. At that time, most men on tv were smooth, except for David hasselhoff.
Rest In Peace “Al” Dean Stockwell 😔🕊
Dean was gorgeous when he was younger.
I was waiting for you to tell us what we DIDN'T know about the show.
Click bait of course.
I just this minute finished Quantum Leap after watching every episode back to back and the first thing I questioned was the ending, it was most dissatisfying.
I'm binging it on Peacock. I was 11 when it first aired and I missed a few eps. I actually thought the last EP was sweet.
You Guys Should do Videos Like This About Smallville,&,Supernatural
This show has impacted my life in many ways on many levels. A lot of people don't like the ending, but it's perfect. Everything needed to figure out what's really going on in the series is in the final episode. There's no real need for a follow up series with Sammy Jo looking for him or a movie. The final episode provides all the information you need to know. It's brilliant.
Quantum leap is the best scifi show of the 1980s
A. Al wasn’t Sam’s boss. Sam ran the project. B. It wasn’t a cliffhanger finale. The ending was intentional.
Scott Bakula is one of my favorite actors
Two beautiful shows Scott Bakula was on that got canceled too soon this show and Enterprise
Loved that theme song. It's to bad that t.v. shows don't put the effort into making memorable music anymore.
love tv tv series Quantum Leap. still this day hate that end episod. so much.
By far my favorite episode is the one that takes place during the Watts riots. I looked at the top rated Quantum Leap episodes and I'm just blown away that one doesn't rank. Regardless, it'll always be my favorite. So tragic!
Rhett and Link brought me here lmao
I just started rewatching this show. It's still real good. Wish it would have gotten a proper ending.
me too i can't get enough but at the same time i'm at season 4 ep 12 it's almost over 😭😭😭😭
Loved this show so much when I was growing up.
My favorite episode? 3 spring to mind- the season 2 finale: M.I.A, the season 4 premire: the Leap Back, and the last episode: Mirror Image.
yeah, but the lee harvey episodes are soooo awesome too
@@blacklight4075 Oswald episodes were by far my favorite
i did a series of my own titled "budget leap" back in 2013 where i build a project of parts from a junkyard, thus the name "budget leap". my leaps are less extravagant since my budget has less money.
I always thought it would be cool to have his son leaping around looking for him, especially since Sam DID leap home and presumably get with Donna before he had to leap back out to save Al. A conception COULD HAVE happened during that short trip home. Of course then again, what would it be called? Quantum Leap: Son of Sam?
Bakula got Don Quixote stuck in my head, I'm not sure I can ever forgive him.
Wonder what it would be like if there was a Quantum Leap and Northern Exposure Crossover
Thank you I appreciate this I remember when I am a kid I used to watch this religiously and never had the chance to know what is the finale because it was never shown in my country (Philippines) thank you
I love the show I just bought it at Wal-Mart this month.I wanted more seasons they should bring it back even it was just one season!!!💯
Don’t the DVDs have generic music?
@@mem1701moviesI myself have bought the 2017 Mill Creek DVD box set at Walmart. I learned that Mill Creek payed more per episode for the copyrighted original music for this release of the series. The DVD set cost me about $10. The Blu-Rays on Amazon are about $60. There’s no real difference in the two. Neither have subtitles or any special features. It is very good to have anyway.
Don't forget; Sam also taught Michael Jackson to moonwalk.
Wow to the 97th episode run where he was Marylin (M)onroe's (C)hauffeur. I just got done documenting about how In quantum leaping to save the world I jumped for joy into Marilyn Monroe's mother whom was known to be a schizophrenic. The first words I had were "I'm cool fool". In conclusion I'm here with Marilyn right now enjoying Memorial Day 2021 with a bottle of Manis(chew)witz Concord Grape! Terrill TC!
I enjoyed the JFK episode because I was born the day before he was shot (Nov. 21, 1963) and "Jimmy" because I have and work with people with disabilities. I would like to see a feature film as long as they stick to the source material, keep it at least PG and NOT a horror flick (like they did with The Banana Splits).
Heart touching one, this show Inspiron so much, even if this one old it doesn't matter
Interesting, these are are all facts Quantum Leap fans knew.... great try though! 😉
The scene where you criticized Scott's 5 o'clock shadow ("Did they even try?"), he was an undercover male police officer dressed as a woman for a bust. So it makes sense. Did you even watch the show?
Absolutly a great, quality, always a positive message show....
I found a channel that's playing QL and have been recording them all. Loved this show
You can watch all episodes FREE on NBC app
Now they're all on Peacock
My favorite episodes are 8 1/2 Months, Temptation Eyes and The Wrong Stuff. I totally want to see you rap the ABC's :)
My favorite episodes were the evil leaper ones.
I will always remember the JFK/Lee Harvey Oswald episode. I have that image of Dean Stockwell screaming and yelling in a complete panic while trying to strike the rifle out of Sams hands as he assassinates the President burned into my memory. Kinda traumatic. EDIT - And now that I think about it with an adult mind, this entire show is DRENCHED in Bootstrap Paradoxes.
I can't watch the Oswald or some others just because I feel like they made Sam to empathetic to " killers " you know ? I crushed on Al dean Stockwell as a teen when it was first on now re-watching still Al the stories are good but still love Al he seemed to not have a certain kind of woman 💗 he was attracted to .
It was very trippy at times.
"Alphabet Rap" is the one selection that I wish they'd left off the soundtrack album. They could easily have replaced it with Al teaching Sam how to sing "Volare".
That's called "pandering to the lowest common denominator"
Syfy was in talk about bringing it back in 2009 they need to bring it back before scot dies
And talks back in 2002
In the very last scene they have a text caption telling what happened.. They Spell his last name wrong....
on purpose
It was because it was so rushed. Was originally gonna be a season ender not series. Sam was to of went to the future. Al was to start leaping after him.
This was one of my favorite shows, growing up..
For those wanting to continue the adventures of Sam Beckett I regret to inform you that all the books and comics take place before the last episode.
They are good though. The books were written as if he leapt into their actual bodies, which is not what really happens, but other then that were good.
@@dantheman8103 They are good. I just wish we'd had stories set after Mirror Image.
They're gonna do a reboot, just wait
That was four minutes of my life I will never get back.
My favorite show of all time !
SO MANY. But my fave episode - Catch a Falling Star.
I enjoyed "Jimmy" about the Disabled adult and "Lee Harvey Oswald" my birthday is right before the JFK assassination.
If you think about IT; Robert Sean Leonard as Sam and Hugh Laurie as Al.
NO Just NO
House and Wilson do channel Sam and Al somewhat.
I don't know why I wasn't anticipating an Oingo Boingo appearance, but I'm glad it happened. After all, nothing bad ever happens to me.
3:49 This is why I want the soundtrack on CD.
7:35 Okay, maybe there are other reasons I want the soundtrack. That rap was awesome.
Also, I like that they at least included the cards at the end last minute as a sort of ending instead of leaving it completely open. I mean, it's still open enough that the show could return, but if it doesn't they at least managed to put up something that can count as an actual end. Also also, Bakula might stand by the end, but he also is glad that we got to finally see the footage of the alternate ending.
I will miss you, Dean...
Quantum Leap is 95 episodes actually since both the pilot and Lee Harvey Oswald episodes originally aired the same night as 2 hour episodes and were only 2 parters in reruns.
A remake?! OH BOY!
I've seen the episode when Sam Becket leaped into Elvis Presley and even Lee Harvey Ashwalt.. You know what episode would really be funny? If he leaped into Bruce Lee, or Muhumid Ali, or James Earl Ray ext.
Thats not his name lol
Happy Birthday Dr Sam Beckett. 8th of August 1953
I want the duck hunting T shirt love it. Great video
Still watch this show in reruns!
Oh wow cool video ! I was 10ish when this originally ran in France and I just couldn't miss an episode. I liked Al best because of his handlink adventures (I didn't realise then how much of a perv he was I guess haha) and of course the idea of a bad-mooded egocentrical supercomputer was very cool to me.
I find that the series didn't age very well but I still love some of the episodes, mostly the early or the late ones, including the Trilogy, the ones with the evil leapers, leap for Lisa, etc. Those I liked least were usually the sport-related ones.
It's a pity they're practically impossible to find online in France nowadays really. I've got the DVDs somewhere but they're really low quality, with the wrong credits (although I shouldn't complain : at least we got the original soundtrack, unlike the UK version…)
The theme song to Quantum Leap is so hilariously terrible and I am here for it. Especially when they changed it in season 5 and it sounded like a game show theme song. So cheesy but I love it so much.
Terrible? You clearly have no taste in theme songs.
I knew Gideon on the CW flash reminded me of Ziggy
Dr. Beckett was the hero we needed, but never deserved.
Face looks out of focus, while the Duck Hunt dog looks sharp. Hey cameraman, her eyes are up there!
Yikes, had to hastily pause it when I heard you were going to give away the whole finale. Some of us weren't even born when this show was on and are watching it now you know.
lol, she was "giving away" the finale to a show that ended over 20 years ago
Trilogy is my favorite episode
I wish you wouldn't get off topic and throw in all the cringy sketch bits, stick with the facts that we came here for
Mike Post was also responsible for the Rockford Files theme with Pete Carpenter
Is Mike Post not most well known for the A-Team theme?
Also the theme song for Renegade
How about Magnum P. I.?
and Rockford Files & Hill St.Blues!
Crocodile Dundee was an amazing movie.
Back on USA channel with MacGyver. Best ever
Jackie Jennings, you're a pretty awesome host. You remind a lot of Morgan Webb. I hope this channel gives you the exposure you deserve.
Did he ever leap back to himself again 🤔cause I use to watch it but never watch the end
10:48
In the finale now got a happy ending because he was allowed to have his wife and his family that he didn't originally have. No one else got a happy ending that's correct but Al did.
I remember one interview on TV discussing the show and they said that the origial premise as live-action "transformers" rip-off, where the lead character was somehow transferred inth a robot and he could change back and forth.
I'd "adopt" this hostess by putting a ring on her finger haha
