    The Bell 206 has a very high inertia rotor system when doing autos, and it auto rotates like an airplane you've got a whole bunch of glide time in that puppy arguably one of the best auto rotating helicopters in real world. ( R-44, Bell 206L3, Bell 204, 205 / UH-1H )

    I'm curious why you don't fly in VR. In my opinion VR is especially awesome for Heli simming. I can never go back to 2D flying.

      My first flight in VR was in the DCS Huey, you are a million percent correct I will never ever ever go back to 2D flying it's not even remotely in the same category. Not even with Track IR Pro. It's the difference between being inside the game and looking at the game on a flat screen

      My father is a Vietnam Veteran Huey pilot and a 35 + year career helicopter pilot. I sat him down in my DCs VR rig that has the actual one-to-one replica uh-1 Huey cyclic and Collective from Komodo Sim and he was instinctively trying to rest his hand where he rested it in the real helicopter lol it was that immersive and realistic to him. Had him do several straight in autorotations to the runway and he said it was 99% as realistic as the real thing. Only difference he noted was the friction on the skids with the current fuel load on board being a bit off.

    I run my own VA in XP11, GA aircraft from various Orbx and Boundless airfields, IXEG charter flights in the 733, some XP12 stuff too. Looking for a good chopper but too much choice. Would like some pax and/or cargo capacity, cross country speed, but versatile mission sounds fun, air sea rescue, mountain rescue etc. complexity not a prob, I fly DCS fighters and Blackshark with my eyes closed. The Cowan stuff looks good, the Bell 412 looks very versatile, the 222 looks like a good pax carrier for distances, but not much else. The 202 I think looks great and lots of missions but not so good before high alt rescue then there is the Alloutte (spelling) II or III, which looks great too, but not sure how it is for distance flights…..spoiled for choice, I also want something up to date, not a 10 year old model with bugs…and works in 11 and 12. Do you have any advice based on my crazy ideas!! Cheers

      Nice! If You wanna do cross country at reasonable speeds I recommend the 412. Simulation depth is good and it has lots of room for cargo/pax and a complex auto-pilot system. So...good for IFR too. Also fun to fly without the AFCS/SAS. EC35 by rotorsim is nice in XP11 but I don't like the feel of it in XP12. For XP12 the EC130 is nice too (check out my video). Oh and JRX has a 407 in the pipeline. Hope that helps and happy flying

      @@thenerdyhelisimmer4608 Thanks for the detailed reply, EC135 looks pretty good, I live under the flight path of many Air Ambulance EC135 and love watching them, but it's maybe even too modern! The 412 is top of the list, however the video's of the 407 look great, I would maybe hold off for that, looks like it's nearly finished, any idea of release date? Cheers

    Cowan's already stated that the initial 12 versions are to just "work", but that they will need flight model updates first.

    Regarding the frame rates, it seems its an issue with Cowan's H125 itself. I recalled seeing a few discussions on the X-Plane forums on this. I have both the Lama and H125 on XP12. With the Lama, I always get around 40+ FPS, but with the H125, it drops down to 25-30. I am running a GTX 1660TI with the graphic generally on "medium" settings on a single 1080P monitor. Lets wait and see the next update on Cowan's H125.

      Yepp, cowans Helis can give You some stutters on older rigs. Especially the 206 even in XP11 gave my system quite a workout...

    Cowan provides 2K versions for both 206 and H125 (and probably others but I didn't check). These should improve FPS. Did you use them ?

    Nice comparison. I really like the new scenery.
    Amusing that the CV is actually asking to call the ball. Can you see the IFLOLS, I haven't checked it yet? Carrier ops with my RIO is one of the few things I miss from DCS. I read after the last beta update you need to clear your shadercache... Tomcat, carrier, clearing the shaders after an update... XP12 turns into DCS more and more (I kid).
    Oculus / META actually were kind enough to send me a new - well, refurbed - cable for my Rift CV1. Turns out, it probably wasn't the cable, after all... my Rift remains dark. Very sad, the prospect of buying new VR glasses is rather "oof" right now. *sad pilot noises*

    I have zero experience in XP11, and all I have in 12 atm is the Lama ( other than the defaults ) - but the DCS helis ( bar the Gazelle ) also don't like descending & slowing at the same time, so I haven't noticed anything particularily different. Generally I slow down in a circle around the landing point anyway rather than aiming straight at it, so it's hard to compare.
    Well what's different in XP12 vs DCS ( particularily in the Lama ) is it plummeting downwards when it's nearly in a hover... that is a very wierd region to dip in and out of, especially the pedal movement, and it doesn't exactly feel like physics.
    Doing a "hover" alongside - slide across move onto a ship ( the UK RN don't aim helicopters at decks, they aim at the sea beside the ship! ) takes a little getting used to, you have hover reactions but you're quite possibly past ETL still depending on the ship & the bird...

    • @thenerdyhelisimmer4608
      @thenerdyhelisimmer4608  2 роки тому

      I agree, if that behaviour is supposed to mimic getting out of ETL it should happen a little earlier/at a greater airspeed still. Much like the Huey does in DCS...

    • @Karibanu
      @Karibanu 2 роки тому

      @@thenerdyhelisimmer4608 Going into ETL from takeoff in DCS ( I've mostly flown the Mi8 & it's especially true with that ) is a very integrated process... Lift, dip nose, when pendulum has brought the nose back up again you're about to enter ETL more or less. I think someone working on xp12 might have slightly wrong ideas about how rotor wash works, or hopefully it's just a placeholder model.
      Edit: just tried the latest XP12 patch, seems a little better although not great, autorotations are um... something.
