- The Mazda CX 30 SUV is based on the Mazda3, and is a C- segment SUV. Recently, the CX 30 became available as a CKD (locally assembled) unit, so we are duty-bound to check it out for our viewers

Just drove my wife's 2021 cx30 to Philip Island for 3 days over the past weekend, what a pleasing car to drive long distance about 120km each way, this being the cars first drive outside Greater Melbourne. Totally loved the headlights switching on off during poor light and it was found its job as we drove into the night to Philip island and found the perfect daylight running lights??? serving me best.

Such a fun drive to watch. Uncle YS has driven some beast machines but I love to see that he can still really enjoy driving cars that the rest of us can own. Big fan of Mazda. I wish we had a market that could bring in more spec options for our cars.

when uncle mention about 2nd gear bouncing around rev limiter and not shifting to the 3rd gear by itself, i have a similar thing happen in MZ3 2022 on 3rd gear when i forgot to shift to 4th gear just made me realise that mazda greatly confident about their gearbox can withstand such pressure put into...

I own a 2021 cx30 and let me tell you it is a very good canyon carver. Very sure footed
Probably the only car to show the compass and latitude numbers for easy inputting into GPS or Maps to find your current position.
Extremely useful in case of emergency or you get lost you could take a photo of it and send it to your friends/loved one or emergency services for them to locate you.

the CX30 is a middle ground between husband and wife. wife who are more family and comfort oriented, at the same time for men who loves driving more aggressively. and mazda the setup makes driving so easy. win win situation.

When Uncle Khong said, "we going to take this easy drive" and uncle revs up to 6,000 rpm😂. Good drive uncle I also like how the car handles, but for a C segment suv the rear seats are a bit small. Never the less it's a good car👍🏻

i think C seg car seated 2 at the back is comfortable. Unless you always need to be seated 3 at back.

Your voice was crystal clear and didn't hear much background noise, is the cabin noise insolation very good? By the way, when Mazda cars are in manual mode, it wouldn't upshift by itself.
Some do, some dont.
Hello ! I am watching from Athens, Greece. Such a nice video with real driving ... I fell like I am in the car and participate in the test drive. I drove seceral cars before I made my choice ... it wasnt difficult for me to understand that this is the right SUV in this car segmant the most suitable for buyers who are fun to drive lovers as well ... the ones that do not look only for a car to dirve from one place to the other for work and shopping. Here in Europe and in Greece with get the e-skyactive x model with the 186hp power train. I chose a version called Nagisa in Europe but in markets outside Europe has different names. I have ordered it the last days of 2023 ... and I am expecting to receive it next month... I cant wait ! for color I chose the lovely Machine Gray witch has a very nice pearl effect when the sun hits the surface of the car. it makes also a nice contrast with the inside colors of the car in this version with the terracotta interior.

The Mazda 3 will handle better since it sits lower.
Unker YS, I always have a good feeling about this Mazda CX30..
One strong reason is because the lower gravity of the chassis and the wide body of SUV,
It's make the car look confident perfectly for high speed and as a fun car's to drive...
I can assume this car handle well with such dynamic body with paring 2.0 sky active engine & 6 speed transmission...
Unlike the same segment others brand model,
Toyota Cross & Honda HR-V, both are definitely SUV DNA even the HR-V came with 1.5T engine, but doesn't mean the car consider best driving feeling...
Even I've not tested CX30, but from the outlook of the body chassis, already knew CX30 are highly recommend 👍

All three have their own good points: the CX handles very well, the Cross is super reliable, and the HRV probably has the highest torque.

Civic FE is a lot more powerful, but if you need a SUV, then the CX30 wins.
I think if you need more fun and fast, go sedan (Civic) ; family and relatively popular, go for SUV, the boot is much more easy to load stuff.
Civic turbo has oil dilution problem.

The CX30 has the best soundproofing in this category. The interior trim is C segment: HRV is B segment. HRV turbo has more power because of the turbo. CX30 has a 6 speed auto vs cvt for hrv.

Both are built on the same platform, and they shortened the wheelbase of the cx30 by 60 mm so that it handles the same. Both are equally nice to drive, so it remains whether you want suv or sedab, or hatch. Book through shop.yskhongdriving.com or whatsapp 0163350609.
Is there a big difference between the cx-30 and mazda 3 in terms of body roll management and overall controlling and handling of the car around the bends? Is it noticeably different?
The wheelbas of the CX30 is reduced a little to get the same handling as the Mazda3. It feels just like a car.

The look and feel depends on road conditions, speed and camera mounting, so is not a surefire way to comparr

CKDeans the car is locally assembled. It is a new car, built to a standard, and has warranty.
Recond means it is a used car, perhaps touched up. It is not a new car.

One is a SUV, the other is a Sedan. One buys a vehicle based on needs, therefore the one that best suits your needs is the better vehicle.

The Tiguan 5 seater is a good vehicle. Both drive well, and finally it will come down to your personal choice.

Would be hard to find a car in good condition.
The CKD CX30 got a much rougher sounding engine,feels a bit painful to rev.
The Mazda 3 and CX 30 CBU version has the sweetest n smoothest revving 2.0l NA engine i have heard.
This is surprising because i don't detect such difference in quality between CKD n CBU Civic, BMW or Merc.
The sweet engine is one of the primary reasonsto buy a Mazda, without which better go Civic which handles even better.
There should be no difference whether ckd or cbu: not forgetting we are pushing the vehicle very hard up that hill though.
Mr. Khong which is more fun to drive, a cx3 2.0L or a cx30?
CX3 is lighter and smaller, so is probably faster

The 2008 is B segment, and has a 3 cylinder turbo.
The CX30 has a NA 2.0, and is C segment, so is actually a bigger vehicle.
It depends on what your needs are. The 2008 is priced a bit lower.
As for me, I would go for the CX30.

Disappointing rear suspension setup. Torsion beams reminds me of el cheapo vehicles from the 80’s like the Datsun 120Y
The torsion beams of today are quite different.
Anyway the Datsun 120Y did not have a torsion beam.
@@YSKhongDriving I tested the CX30 in Australia last year. The rear suspension was horrendous. Corolla Cross Hybrid that comes with rear multi links fare much better
