Wood floor question. Costco now carries the wooden sound deadening tiles? Like it would blend in with the wood and sound dampening your ceiling?

Why would you leave California for Chicago? I'm curious. I'm born and raised in Chicago, living here again, but spent decades in California and only left when things got too expensive and the homeless situation got so bad. Within 7 years of being here, it's just as bad in Chicago now. Super frustrating. Beautiful city, but not safe. And man, I miss the Socal weather and beaches.

@@madeleinegrayson8372 Nah, I lived in Chicago from 2020-2023. It wasn’t bad at all. I moved back because of how cheap it is compared to CA. Both places are fine with me, but IL is just less expensive.

I rent at Germain House in River West and our unit is absolutely gorgeous and I LOVE it… but it is a wooden loft and I can hear absolutely everything my upstairs neighbor says and does… I involuntarily know so much about his life and he has no idea who I am😂

Literally, no one here cares what you put on a dog, lol.
I used to lease and manage the first luxury rental lofts in the city, and wouldn't even consider a timber loft, which is what those are called. My concrete loft was amazing, lived at 1020 South Wabash and it was literally against the train tracks, lol, but the loft itself was glorious so I agree. If you're noise sensitive at all, skip the timber lofts, unless you're on the top floor. I reeber during a showing once for our building on Hale, all gorgeous timber lofts, we could hear the person upstairs peeing, lol.
Things I wouldn't do, as someone born and raised here; take the train, ever. Too violent now. Go anywhere alone, day or night, in any area, too violent now.
Live West of Clark Street, South of Oak street, north of Addison. Too violent now.
And to quote the many Chicago cops I've spoken to about living here over the past 7 years or so, buy a gun, learn how to use it and carry it. CC is legal. Cops want us, esp women, to take advantage of that.
    Hope this helps.

1.7M people use the CTA daily--2.5 violent crimes per 1 million riders on CTA. It's perfectly fine--millions use it.

    • @madeleinegrayson8372
      @madeleinegrayson8372 3 місяці тому

@@Chicago_Jayhawk sure, sweetie, keep telling yourself that. Plenty of violent crime isn't reported, believe it or not. And I've been here most of my life. I used to take the train alone all over as a kid. I wouldn't take it now without an armed bodyguard, and if you do, you're not too bright. It also sounds like you've never been the victim of violent crime. I have. Multiple times, in this crap hole city. Come back here when it's you or a loved one making up the stats, reported or not. That is, if you care about anyone. And stop living in a delusional bubble.

@@Chicago_Jayhawk and just in case the link I sent is removed by yoo toob
"A man was seriously wounded after being stabbed and robbed on the Belmont Red Line station Thursday night. He's one of about 500 victims on the Chicago Transit Authority's trains and stations this year, which is on pace to be the most violent in two decades, according to an analysis of Chicago Police Department data.
While the Chicago Police Department boosted its presence at stations this summer, an analysis of the department's dispatch data shows that hasn't made a dent in violent incidents.
Violent crime such as robberies, aggravated assaults, batteries, sexual assaults, and homicides trended up since 2016, after years of declines. There were less than half as many violent crimes in 2015 as there are now.
While many compare life in terms of before and "after" the pandemic, crime on CTA trains was already high before Covid, with 593 violent incidents reported in 2019, the most in any year in two decades.
By then, the city had endured months of bad headlines. A CTA train operator was pushed onto tracks at the Granville Red Line stop in April. The following week, three people were robbed at gunpoint, minutes apart, on the Pink Line. The attacks picked up pace on just about every line.
Knife attacks increased on Orange and Green lines, and repeated attacks occurred in the Loop and South Loop stations. Four people were injured during a robbery in Lincoln Park at the North/Clybourn station Red Line station in July."
I could go on here, but...
Also consider that when the DNC was in town, the Gold Coast was heavier with cops and barravadrs than I've ever seen in my life. Why? To protect the VIPs from the increasing and predictable violent crime here.
      End of.

@@Chicago_Jayhawk I've posted two replies with links and even copied and pasted articles citing increasing violent crime on the trains here. Both were deleted. Interesting.
Suffice it to say, you're wrong, sweetheart. It's very dangerous on the trains now at all hours. There's a reason it has been a focal point for the governor for years. Because they haven't made a dent in the rising crime there. They never will without a cop in every car and that isn't happening.
I've been the victim of violent crime more than once in this crap hole town. Have you?
Didn't think so. Must be nice in your little bubble of ignorance. Come back when that pops.
