I switched from steel to graphite irons late last year. Given the weather over the winter I don't think I have fully adjusted or got used to the change but hopefully as courses dry out that will change. I think a 7 wood should be in most handicap golfers bags, a very underrated club. I would like to see more of you play holes with 12 - 24 handicap golfers, talking strategy.
It's taken me 3 years and 4 separate, good fitting sessions to get my clubs, yardage gaps, and shafts/swingweights/lie angles straightened out - I am not about to go through it all over again anytime soon, especially considering the thousands of dollars I've already spent to get here. I'm a 6 index handicap even though I don't get to play or practice that often - and I got there by knowing that if I hit a crappy shot it's because of a crappy swing and not the fault of the club - I am certainly not about to spend another $700+ for a brand new driver or $1,300+ for a set of irons to try to prove otherwise. BTW - new club prices are simply insane - know your specs and go DTC (Sub70; Ben Hogan; Takomo).
I bought a second hand set of irons blind in 2010, still using them now and they certainly hold up. Got me to 11 14 months after taking up the game, broken 80 twice. Still good even though I only play a handful of times a year.
My first new purchase for years has been the qi10 max, senior shaft, very pleased. My last purchase, new set, was Adam irons and hybrid. The hybrid are still in the bag but I have set, 7-PW, callaway edge with senior shafts and 3w, 5w and heaven wood all senior shafts - All second user.
Just changing to a new set of irons since my custom fit set from 1997.. definitely overdue. Also went from my G5 driver to a new 430 Max.. see how it goes
I got fit in February 2023 for PXG 0211 XCORE2 14 clubs and am struggling even after 16 months of playing them. Used to playing Adams forged CB irons and 4 Adams hybrids for the past 13 years before my new PXG's. these hollow body irons are hard to get ahold of especially in the short game the ball just shoots off the face making controlling the ball very inconsistent unlike a Forged CB iron as they perform the same way all the time.
I test the new stuff periodically to see if there's a clear leap forward... can't see Stealth + leaving any time soon. It beat out my TS4. Same with Srixon ZX 3 wood...
I'm in the process of replacing my entire bag. My clubs were 10+ years old, fitted at the time. I've lost clubhead speed, so the X Flex in my current set are too stiff. New Sem 2 Driver and 3 Wood with stiff shafts. Loving them so far. Ordering Takomo 101T's and Skyforge wedges with stiff steel shafts...1/2 long and 3* Upright. Hybrid, 5 Wood, 7 Wood are TBD. Still happy with my putter.
Chris, I'm spending the money on lessons and a golf holiday. Yourself and James have turned me to looking at used clubs if I get the itch to replace something.
I have the three and five wood models just like your Stealth 5 wood, I will keep them till they fall apart. Never hit a 3 or 5 as well as I am hitting those two
Just got my bag sorted to suit me and starting to play well again! I may replace my 4 hybrid with my 7 wood, a nearly 30 year old Great Big Bertha titanium! I’m considering a new(er) one! Would it be possible to see if there is any difference between a say a 21 deg 7 wood and a 19 deg 5 wood turned to the same loft (same make/model) and see what you think of the Callaway Utility wood?
I think it's fair to do a little bit of both. You have to feel confident hitting clubs so a good fitting or a new club is worth it but lessons and practice is also worth it. I think the give/take of both is the answer.
I went for a fitting as I wanted a 9 wood. I came away with a new driver, 5 wood and a 9 wood. I wasn’t that unhappy with my existing clubs (Mizuno) however the new driver QI10 max is fantastic. I will stick with these now for evermore 😂

I tried those clubs last week at the golf store incredible feel and ease of use of those irons is amazing if I hadn't just bought a new set of clubs I would have got them instead but got to keep the wife happy
I brought a cobra king Speedzone drive got rid and brought a TaylorMade M2 2016 best driver out there, these new drivers etc ain't worth the money, like most people blame the tool not the tool using them, to be honest I get pretty lost with every clubs you review or claim to be forgiving etc, so I have come to the conclusion that use what you have a practice until you have reached a level and then look at other clubs etc, the issue is many places don't let you try different brands that might suit your needs. I went for a fitting and what a waste of time, tried fitting me with the TaylorMade stealth but my M2 went straight and further so I think you can guess what happened next 😂
So far this year my only purchase club wise has been the Qi10 Max driver. I have also been trying to decide between the Taylormade Speedsoft ball and the Tour Response Stripe balls. I am kind of torn as they both seem to be equal except for the cost differential and I do miss the Stripe but is the stripe worth the extra cost. I do need a new set of wedges so I will be getting a set of 49/54/58 to cover my gaps

Just bought myself some Wilson Dynapower Forged Irons played one round with them and they feel great.

Good advice. I have just bought the Takomo 101. Waiting for delivery. I've gone from Sim2 Max irons. Cannot wait to take them on the course

Chris how about testing the Mizuno 3 wood that James was testing. I purchased 1 for $180.00. It arrives on Tuesday. I can’t wait to try it.

My clubs hold up just fine, however the idiot swinging them gets worn down a bit
