I just realized you did 2 entire videos, one in english and another in german. That's real dedication. Thanks for your videos they are really something special!
Thank you very much and best regards 😀⛵⛵
I just found this video and read this. Makes me want to watch it even more. Added to watchlist.
That's dedication! Thank you so much for sharing your life and adventures with all of us!
Hi this is brilliant, no BS just a guy enjoying life with a 100% positive attitude . I wish you calm seas and fair winds. Reg
Thank you very much and best regards 😀⛵⛵
@@mjambo697 which Caribbean island did you sail from?🤔
I started from Martinique 🇲🇶
Best sailing experiance I found on youtube, after Chasing Bubbles. Captain, you Rock! Most of them are reality TV shows. Yours is trully what sailing is all about. I really enjoyed it. Thank you.
All the best wishes..I could watch this over n over .. nice long passage
Most solo sailors I watch on YT are eating canned food, sometime from the tin.... Martin? nah, Baking fresh bread in his breadmaker... Well done, loved your video, thanks for sharing it with us.
Thanks a lot and best regards 😀⛵⛵
He’s German... we love bread 🤣🤣
@@lisapreiss6405 Im an Irish person living in Germany and i can vouch for this, its like a hidden secret that the germans make the best bread, but you only find out once you live here :D
True that blood!
@@04collie it explains the good beer too
Stopped for a look. Stayed for an hour and a half. Left a comment. A UA-cam success under any metric. ;) Good sailing on your next voyage.
Thank you very much and Merry Christmas to you and your family 😀⛵⛵
Was great to share the adventure often wonder how to bankroll his trips
Me too
Is this the nicest guy on UA-cam 🤔 He's still smiling when his boats on fire and he rips a sail.
Thank you very much and best regards 😀⛵⛵
I was also thinking that. It even sounds more surreal in German when you listen to him saying... Oh yeah well, today I almost set the boat on fire... I went like *WHAT???* That is *THE* most dangerous situation on board as most of us know.
I agree... outstanding achievement. He sounds and looks like a book keeper but in fact this dude is a hidden champion. Takes a lot of guts to go on a trip like this. Respect!
@@prank-o-mat Ditto. Respect and appreciation for his wonderful sharing!
Many thanks for shooting this in english too, Martin, I can see it would have been a lot more work, but it is appreciated and a wonderfully documented view of a crossing I hope to make one day also - Bravo!
Thank you very much and best regards 😀⛵⛵
I am totally appreciative of this.
Let's go I'm ready I'm afraid solo
Thank you so much for English narration
@@prof.donalde.kingjr.356 indeed! Thank you for that!
5130 NM single handed is a fantastic achievement! And to make a great video too is outstanding. Thank you!
Thank you and best regards 😀⛵⛵
Thank you for the English version. I really appreciate your optimism and self deprecating humor during the very long trip. You are an inspiration!!
Thank you very much and best regards 😀⛵⛵
You are a great ambassador for Germany. You made me feel your enthusiasm and joy on your long cruise. Best wishes and may the sea always be calm and the wind fair.
Thank you very much, Geoff! Your comment is very much appreciated. Best regards 😀⛵⛵
Just awesome. Thank you so much for this video. You sail half way across the planet in 42 days and you make it seem like going to the shops!!
I cannot express how much respect I have for you and your fantastic attitude.
Thank you very much for the nice feedback, Steven, and kind regards 😀⛵⛵
Terrific adventure Martin -- and great storytelling as well. Bravo. That fire would have aged me. It looks like you responded perfectly. Again, congratulations on a brilliant passage.
Thank you, Patrick! The fire was one of the bad highlight, but luckily I have done the right things. I hope our courses will sometimes cross. Best regards 😀⛵⛵
Vielen Dank! Da komme ich gerne einmal vorbei 😀⛵️⛵️
Me too. I would enjoy meeting you both. It’s great to learn from you both.
Enjoying the adventure, and I love the way you refuse to rough it having filter coffee and fresh baked bread and Coke Zero after 37 days at sea but most of all I love that cheery smile you give us at the end of each clip. What a lovely guy.
Thank you very much for the nice feedback, Rob, and fair winds 😀⛵⛵
I’m an oceangoing watchkeeping officer and i have the collywobbles about ocean crossings even we’re at least 20 souls on board.
Respect to real seaman and congratulations.
Thank you very much and best regards 😀⛵⛵
I've just stumbled upon this UA-cam genre of "massive solo ocean voyages on tiny boat," and I'm hooked. It's incredible what you guys are doing out there. Not only helps you appreciate the vastness of the planet we live on, but it's inspiring to see human beings overcome that. Alone.
I'm curious, actually. After initially seeing guys make the trip from LA to Hawaii, I was looking at a map and just assumed a trek across the Atlantic would be too far for such a small boat to make. I was clearly mistaken.
So I wonder: Is there ANY journey one couldn't make in a small ship like this? Assuming one can store enough provisions?
Are there "no-go zones" at sea, where it'd simply be too dangerous to attempt to sail? And if so, where (I suppose the polar seas might be good candidates...)? What are the actual limits to this?
Thank you very much! I think non-stop around the world would be feasible. But, yes, polar regions are not doable with my boat as it is not made for arctic temperatures. 😀⛵⛵
Wow! Not only did you sail for over 5,000 nm in one trip, and also make this vlog in German, but you respond to every (I couldn’t go through the 2.4K comments, but I scrolled through at least one hundred) comment?! What a delight. You’re a very respectable man and I know many look up to you. Great job with everything you do!
Edit: if you’re ever in San Diego, stop by Yachtfinders and ask for Ron. The owner is my uncle and he is a South African sailor that has awesome stories and experience too!
Thank you very much for the kind feedback. Indeed, I try to answer almost all comments, at least acknowledging them with a “Thank you” that I have read it. Kind regards and a Merry Christmas ✨🌲😀⛵⛵
@@mjambo697 Very impressed! Thank you so much. Merry Christmas!!! 🎄🎁
Your drone shots really add nice extra perspective.
Thank you 😀⛵⛵
I was thinking exactly that re the drone. And his editing with commentary and music is just outstanding. So enjoyable to watch...
1:13:08 when you say “thick fog” it 100% sounds like something else!! 🤣
Omg 😲 😆 🤣 💀
Reminded me of the old joke of a sailor in 5
trouble calling German coastguard for help over the radio; ‘we are sinking, we are sinking!’ ‘What are you sinking about?’
@@markverheul9851 it’s actually, “we are sinking, we are sinking and the coast guard replies, what are you thinking about?
I know I kept wondering why he was so comfortable saying that “word”! Now I understand it wasn’t what we American English Speakers heard with our ears- LOL! Fog ahhh Fog
@@markverheul9851 so funny!!!
10 minutes is my normal limit for UA-cam but this excellent video was unmissable from start to finish. Well done, your cool when things went wrong is inspiational.
Thank you very much and best regards 😀⛵⛵
My favorite part of this is how much happiness and joy you emanate. May we all find something we feel this way about!
Thanks a lot and Merry Christmas to you and your family 😀⛵⛵
That's a massive trip to do solo.. hats off to you sir...
Thank you very much and fair winds 🎄😀⛵⛵
I agree 100%!! It's on my bucket list, low down near the bottom though!
One of the most enjoyable videos I have ever watched . A true delight .Thank you so very much .
Thank you very much for the kind feedback and best regards 😀⛵⛵
You make me so glad I stumbled onto this video. I'm so new that I don't appreciate the comparison, but I have sure enjoyed this one!!!
Great sailing
Inspiring
I loved every minute
I learned from you
And I appreciated the modesty
You're a role model
Thank you
Thank you very much for the nice feedback! Best regards 😀⛵⛵
Martin, well done. My life's dream, but I never had the courage. Good Sailing ! John Telders
Thank you, John, and best regards 😀⛵⛵
Well done this is what the internet is for that we see real people doing things they love.
Thank you very much and kind regards 😀⛵⛵
The most amazing thing is that you manages to have a beer left at the end... I would have gone through all the beer in the first week.
Actually, I am alcohol free at sea. Many thanks and best regards 😀⛵⛵
@@mjambo697 wisdom is a blessing, well done.
Why did you choose to go around Scotland and not thu the English channel ?
A exciting Atlantic crossing beautifully and artistically told and rendered with music that mirrored the situations perfectly. Thank you.
Thank you very much, Joseph, and best regards 😀⛵⛵
So many of us only ponder challenges like this but seeing you do it is truly inspirational. Last year some friends and I tried sailing from LA to Hawaii. We made it out about 300 miles but decided to return after encountering many problems. I appreciate your courage and seamanship especially doing a voyage like this by yourself. Please keep on sailing and posting videos, it gives us hope.
Thank you very much and kind regards 😀⛵⛵
Hi! We briefly met at Green Island this year. I am together with my partner, Marte, in a Norwegian-flagged Hanse 430e called "Hello World". Fun that this video showed up in my feed. Glad to hear that you are safe and great video!
Hi Håkon, yes, of course I remember that I met you both and the Hello World at Green Island. I think I saw your ship later again; I think on St. Maarten or probably Martinique. I am not sure where it was. Thank you very much and fair winds 😀⛵⛵
Love to see a sailor - dining at sea, appreciating the swells and weather - confident...Nice job
Thanks a lot 😀⛵⛵
I still go back and watch your films. Makes my day a much nicer place to be! Thanks so much.
My pleasure and kind regards 😀⛵⛵
What an inspiring journey! Just watched to the end, cheers to your journey and life!
Many thanks and Merry Christmas 🎄😀⛵⛵
Fantastic journey Martin, congratulations. I hope Bavaria appreciate what you and Patrick have done for their reputation, they should reward you!
Thank you very much and best regards 😀⛵⛵
I fully agree on this ! I'm myself a perfect example of this. Having previously been a Bavaria-sceptic (sorry...), Patrick and now Martin has fully won me over, when I see what the Bavaria boats are really capable of. So I'm looking for my Bavaria, and just hope that I'll find it before the prices starts to rise because other people see it as well ;-) Thanks to You both, and thanks to You, Martin (I've already told my thank Yous to Patrick Laine on his channel :-) ), for Your very nice channel and videoes. I really enjoy them!
Totally agree I think these production boats have more then proved themselves.
Great adventure! Very inspired by your calm demeanor and fave saying"see how it goes"! Cheers! From Canada.
Thank you and kind regards to Canada 😀⛵⛵
When I was in the navy, my ship was 330 feet long. When your in the middle of nowhere you realize how small and insignificant you are ! I can’t even imagine on a boat your size. You are a real inspiration!!
Thank you very much and kind regards 😀⛵⛵
Great inspiration! Thank you.
The list of people who have accomplished this alone must be mighty small. Well done man, well done.
Thank you very much and kind regards 😀⛵⛵
i’m a solo adventurer. i started sailing two years ago and the freedom it provides for my spirit is so compelling. i’m grateful to connect with you through your adventure and bravery and authenticity on this video. big shout out to the video editing. i will provide the same when i take my first big trip! many thanks for this inspiration!! 🙏❤️
Thank you! I am looking forward to your videos. Thank you and kind regards 😀⛵️⛵️
You took a risk ,by not knowing what the weather would do, but your seamanship payed off. Well done , Sehr gut gemacht.
Thank you and Merry Christmas to you and your family 🎄😀⛵⛵
This was an enjoyable vessel to join for a cruise. Good humored. Relaxing.
Thank you and best regards 😀⛵⛵
for many years i asked myself how would be to sail on board of a sailing boat across the atlantic ocean and now thanks to this guy martin and his jambo and the internet technology a lot of people around the world we can see this amazing atlantic crossing
Thank you very much 😀⛵⛵
I have never watched a sailing video definitely not over an hour this was absolutely one of the best thank you sir and thank you for your positivity of sailing You're a great inspiration.
Thank you very much and kind regards 😀⛵⛵
Martin, happy to find you in the middle of ocean. You both: great achievement! Jambo is proud of you! Greg
Thank you very much and fair winds 😀⛵⛵
Thank you for sharing, this was incredible, it takes a lot of guts, experience and courage to do this alone. You made it look easy but, I am sure you had more than a handful of challenges. Excellent Vlog.
Thank you and best regards 😀⛵⛵
Well done Martin, a well narrated sail! Thank you for the English version. Be safe and happy sailing.
Thank you very much, Trevor, and best regards 😀⛵⛵
I believe in God 🙏 Almighty creater of heaven and earth.
Here is works are so marvelous.
Thoroughly enjoyed this...And Zero commercials.. Brilliant!!
Thank you very much and best regards 😀⛵⛵
And thank you so much for making this in English as well as German 👍
Thanks again 😀⛵⛵
That’s such a serious maritime expedition…..with some real navigational challenges. Your delivery is so understated it makes every day seem like a coastal cruise! You seem laid back, prepared and always in control. Very impressed here. 👏🏻
The first couple of gulps of beer after adventure are always exceptional….. your appreciation shows! Well deserved.
Soave s’ia il vento Martin.
Thank you very much for the nice feedback! Best regards 😀⛵⛵
I enjoyed every minute of your cruise. Your commentaries were quite interesting and I admire you not only for you obvious abilities as a solo sailor, but your optimism and great sense of humor that included that rare capacity to be able to laugh at yourself. What makes a good solo sailor are the same traits that makes a good friend and a happy mate. Happy sailing and here at the end of 2929, Froeliche Weinachten!
Thank you very much for the nice comment and Merry Christmas to you and your family 😀⛵⛵
I am amazed that you make an English and German version of each video! Just the logistics of making sure you have the right clips for each version must be a giant job.
Ok sailing single-handed across the Atlantic is pretty impressive too I guess. 😉
Thank you and Merry Christmas 🎄😀⛵⛵
Thanks so much for including us viewers on your cruise. Your calm, cheerful attitude made it all seem under control and so doable - masterful, really.
Thanks a lot 😀⛵⛵
That’s unbelievable mate! Amazing video and nice storytelling as well! Congrats
Thank you very much 😀⛵⛵
Fabulous Martin! You have be best attitude, even when things go quiote as planned. Looking forward to your next adventure.
Thank you very much, Ron, and best regards 😀⛵⛵
Absolutely EPIC. Calm and professional all the way and sailing on a pretty little yacht that most folks can aspire to have. Thank you so much...I know editing a video that long is a ton of work.
Thank you! Yes, you are right, it is a lot of work putting together a long video. Fair winds 😀⛵⛵
"Let's see how it goes" ... great film, well done!
Thank you 😀⛵⛵
What an inspiring video to watch on a cold rainy day in London during our 3rd lockdown.
Thank you very much and kind regards to London 😀⛵⛵
1 1/2 Stunden und keine Minute langweilig! Was für ein Abenteuer. Was für ein super Typ. Viele Grüße!
Vielen Dank und schöne Grüße zurück 😀 ⛵⛵
Inspirational. What a journey. Can only dream at this point
Thank you 😀⛵⛵
My husband and I are dreaming also, hopefully to make our dream come thru some day!
Thank you for sharing your solo journey across the Atlantic. Your optimism and good humor made the trip worth my time. You are amazing. I look forward to next year’s journey with Anke.
Thank you very much and kind regards 😀⛵⛵
This is quickly becoming my favorite YT channel
Thanks a lot and kind regards 😀⛵⛵
To future sailors, loosing track of the number of days out at sea by yourself is never a good thing. Use colanders, watches, and other ways to remind yourself how long you have been out. If electronic instruments fail, its really good to know how long you have been travelling. That being said this skipper keeps good logs, so he can loose track of how many days he has been out and review his log book if something requires him to remember.
You’ve been a bright spot to look forward to in these Corona lockdowns and I absolutely love your choice of music. I’m also in the middle of nowhere, albeit on land enjoying good food and the solitude of star filled nights with no electric lights for miles. Thank you!
Thank you very much and best regards 😀⛵⛵
Wow, Martin! That fire......scared me off. Thanks a lot for sharing this fabulous adventure.
Thank you and Merry Christmas to you and your family 😀⛵⛵
The lesson I take from it is to plug something like that directly into the generator with a heavy duty extension cord.
I’m sad the video has finished - thanks so much for sharing, loved it
Thank you very much and fair winds 😀⛵⛵
That was amazing! Wife and I just watched this video, she asked me if I wanted to do something like this someday... I'm not gonna lie, I don't think I'd go this far... but I'd definitely love to set off on the open sea for a multi-day sail - someday!
Thank you very much and all the best for you and your wife 😀⛵⛵
I have watched your altlantic crossings a few times now, you make sailing look so easy with no fuss. Whereas others make a full meal out of the subject and they tend to over cook the experience. Well done, I enjoy your videos much better. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much for your kind feedback. I enjoyed this cruise so much. I had a few minor issues, which I could reasonably well manage. I quickly crossed it off and kept focused on the challenges ahead of me. It was great fun! Best regards 😀⛵️⛵️
this is absolutely the best long distant solo sailing video that I have ever seen great job sir. In the early 60s I sailed around the world on 230 ton hermaphrodite brig squares on the for mast the only nave aid we had was a sextant and she was a real snail. two years before the mast. I can not believe the modern equiptment that is out there today.
Thank you very much for the great feedback. Yeah, modern navigation equipment and tools make it much, much easier than in former times. Best regards 😀⛵⛵
thank you,Martin for the video.I am impressed with your will, and your skill.Inhave been a sailor my whole life, but never anything that adventurous.
Thank you very much and always fair winds 😀⛵⛵
I’m halfway through and have to do some work soon but I’m really enjoying watching a middle age guy like myself doing it Baby !!! Well done . It’s interesting someone coming back to Europe. Thank you for doing it in English.
Thank you very much and kind regards 😀⛵⛵
Well done! Great positive attitude, makes it look like a day sail.
Thank you 😀⛵⛵
Thx for all you do and sharing your enviable zest for life. We each can enjoy like a high quality wake. Kudos
My pleasure 😀⛵⛵
One day i will do sth like this. Sole sailing is for me. You prove that all you need is courage, determination, and common sense. No fancy gadgets.
Thank you! Good plan 👍😀⛵️
Martin, you sound like a real gentleman, thanks for putting together such an entertaining film, I really enjoyed it.
Thanks a lot and Merry Christmas 🎄😀⛵⛵
Well done Martin ; What an Adventure you had , thank you for inviting us aboard from time to time , it was brilliant .
Oh, by the way Martin ; don't forget the new Crocs for your next Trip.
HA !
Thank you! I already have them for next year, two pairs! Best regards 😀⛵⛵
You little rascal, just to be able to enjoy a second beer, you also do the moderation in English. Well deserved my friend, well deserved. Congratulations! 😂👍⛵
Thank you very much! that beer was so tasteful after 6 weeks at sea! Best regards 😀⛵⛵
@@mjambo697 To be honest, you have my great respect for recording and editing both versions of the film! I know what an exhausting job it is. Amazing! Hats off and greetings from Raesfeld, Chris (alias Büschel, to solve this riddle too)
You are too modest! Sure you have a good boat, all the modern tools, remote help even. But that long of a solo passage is still quite a journey. Thanks for bringing us along!
Thank you very much 😀⛵⛵
Unbelievable what a champion you are!!
Thank you very much 😀⛵️⛵️
Thanks for sharing this amazing adventure with the world. I know the effort you had having it in english and german, but because of that I'm here. Greetings from Brazil and thanks my friend!

now that's a humble and happy man: every day mirror gazing and saying : who will put up the spi? Is it you or is it me?
Thank you. Yes, the spi would have helped! 😀⛵⛵
Excellent adventure and a great video of it. It was interesting to see how you decided on your route and the importance of the weather forecasts you had via the Garmin. Good luck on your future trips and thank you

Thank you for sharing this adventure!
What a great attitude and approach to handling the challenges of 2020, over 5000nm solo! That is something!
Truly an inspiration!
