- For 25 years Steam Engine Tractors or Steam Traction Engines ruled the prairies. They busted sod, threshed grains, and powered other machines around the farm. Here is a Case 65 HP steam engine tractor up close and working.
Thanks for a very informative look at steam engines. I wish he would have described and blown the 2 whistles though. Beautiful machine!
Nothing short of cool.
Thank you for the information, I’m 62 and i knew a little bit of what the machine was and did. Although I didn’t know a lot about it, I learned much more than I knew. Thank you again, I learned a lot more about our past( history).
Thank you so much for taking your time to watch my video and for commenting. I deeply appreciate both.
One of your best videos yet. Sure would be fun watching that beast plow.
The smell of burning coal is un mistakable! You only gonna smell it once and you instantly know what it is!
Thank you showing this.
Thank you for watching. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Steam engines did that case ever go To Rough and tumble I remember it in 2015
I’m not sure.
@@LancoAmish I’d like to see that Frick fired up one of these days
The busted the prairies, then the prairies blew away!
A 65 case was never rated with any drawbar horsepower. The earlier case engines were. Such as a 32hp which became what we know as 110 case. A 65 case would have been about 22hp on the drawbar. Not 40
Just going by what the operator told me. There are steam engine schools in the area. Maybe they measured the rating.
@Garden Spot Acres no problem just thought I would let you know. The ratings always seem awfully small compared to today's tractors
Should’ve closed front damper to keep cold air off the tubes
Where was this taken at
Big Spring Farm Days in New Holland, PA.
@@LancoAmish whats the dates of the show
