    As a South Louisiana native, meaning that Katrina landed in my yard, I can honestly say that Bush didn't bungle Katrina. The Army Corp of Engineers, state and parish (county) governments did, and the residents themselves did. Our local and state governments believed that out levee systems were better than they actually were. The Army Corps of Engineers didn't make sure to check on the status of the levees properly, as they should every year before and after Hurricane season and after a hurricane. Citizens states behind for reasons such as not wanting to leave their stuff behind to get stolen, going to people's houses to steal stuff, looting stores, and "I'm gonna die in this house" thinking. There was ample time to leave the city and buses to help despite what some say. The ones taken to the Superdome were the ones who waited until the last minute. I do blame a lack of contraflow as well, but that wasn't needed at that scale before. It was new and bound to have issues.
    As far as Bin Laden, the Bush's did business with his parents within the lucrative oil trade. On a deep level, Bush thought that might strain the business relationship. Plus, hell of an achievement for Obama, right?

Those broadcasters on the right were not in any way interested in telling people about things GWB did that would be seen as "liberal". Things, like the Iraq war, that the government probably mentioned and agreed on and yet he still gets all the blame for. And the President has no control over the economy, the housing crisis and the recession that followed, wasn't his fault at all.
    We miss you George. You will always be the first best President I've had in my lifetime. I was born in the mid '90s, so first as in earliest, but so far still number 1 in my book. May end up moving to 2, I have yet to see what President Trump will do, but still.

    Really you got 4 reasons why history will look down on W because of these reasons.1
    1. Iraq War from the beginning and how it was handled.
    2. Katrina his response to it.
    3. The financial crisis of 2008
    4. The Bush tax cuts, went from surplus to deficit in one year.

    • @TheMattd546
      @TheMattd546 8 років тому +13

      +redmustang03 Why don't you do an unbiased research on those 4 things. You'll see you are wrong. The Iraq war started in 1991 and we had a cease fire which means by law we was always at war even under Clinton with Iraq. 2 Katrina was NOT his fault. It was the governor's fault! she was a newly elected democrat who campaigned on "we don't ever need the help of the republican federal government president Bush" SO she didn't declare a state of emergency thinking she can handle the crisis on her own. BY LAW Bush couldn't do ANYTHING to help with Katrina. IT took Bush marching into her office yelling at her to give him the proper paperwork so he can help her" and then she finally did and federal aid came right away. How can you blame him for that??? The financial crisis of 08 was due to the mortgage housing bubble crashing. PLEASE look up how it started!! Bill Clinton signed a bill 'community re-investment act" look it up! That bill stripped banks of de-regulation AND forced them to give mortgage loans to people who couldn't afford it. If banks didn't give these loans they could now legally sue any bank which 1 got sued for it. Everyone and there mother was buying new homes and then they couldn't pay there bills so it all crashed. Bush tried to stop it 2 times before it happened BUT was blocked by democrats saying "Bush just doesn't want low income families to have a new home" How can you blame him for that??? The Bush tax cuts helped EVERY working man and woman get lower taxes. IF Obama took that away from us today ALL of America would feel its effects and be pissed off. WE NEVER HAD A SURPLUS!! Clinton right before Al Gore ran for office BORROWED money from other needed programs to put in this "surplus" program just so Americans will maybe vote Al Gore in. That is a fact. IF YOU WORK then those tax cuts you hate soooo much is putting more money in your pocket. how can you hate that?

      That’s because you pretty much can’t do anything for Americans unless you sub it to a business that is for profit. Remember the old stories of prisoners making license plates? Well they had to stop that because a guy sued the government saying they were undermining his for profit business. It’s the same with everything else now. Can’t do anything for free that a business can do for a profit. Sometimes capitalism really sucks

    Can we get the facts right on the Iraq war/Afghan War which should be #1. The Iraq war was MORE than justified. Here are the reasons for the Iraq War:
    1. The US and Iraq had a CEASEFIRE agreement. The US and Saddam's Iraq had been technically and legally at war since 1991. Just like North and South Korea have a ceasefire and are still technically at war.
    2. Saddam routinely violated the NO-FLY zone on an almost daily basis. These were military engagements and those alone would justify a war.
    3. Saddam had a history of using WMDs. They did find Sarin gas by the way. That and Saddam had over a year to ship WMDs from Baathist Iraq to Baathist Syria. Where did Assad get his WMDs?
    4. Saddam's Human Rights record. The US went into Bosnia and Somalia OVER LESS!
    5. Saddam OPENLY supported, financed, and harbored the terrorist group Hamas. He was not related to Alqueda. But this is a war on terrorism and Hamas is a major terrorist organization.
    6. Those who opposed the Iraq war only did so because Bush43 wanted to do it. Through out the 1990s people complained that Bush41 didn't finish the job and something should be done about Saddam's Iraq. Just watch the hollywood liberal diatribe "Three Kings" to refresh your memory. If Clinton or Gore wanted to liberate Iraq there would be little argument about the matter. But because Bush43 wanted to do it. Suddenly its the worst idea and thing that ever happened. TOTAL Hypocrisy and double standard.
    7. Iraq was a problem waiting to happen. If you think Saddam was bad just you wait until his 2 sons Uday and Qusay were running Iraq. This was also a preemptive war. It was nipping future problems in the bud.
    Ironically the Iraq War was more justified than the Afghan War. But because of political partisanship and biased media the Iraq War has been distorted. And how is Liberating Iraq and Afghanistan a bad thing? I ask. Anyone who opposed the Iraq war is a racist bigot because they believe Arabs don't deserve to live in a free democracy. Arab lives apparently don't matter to the left because Bush wants to liberate them.

      +ShadesMP5 I could one big reason why the war was bad for the world itself : Saddam was the only freaking man there in the Middle East who was keeping the powder keg from exploding. Anyone who lived there or nearby knew that very well. As an Indian, growing up right across the small sea in India we had news about him and his actions regularly but we also knew what kind of people the locals were and why he was needed. This is what the Americans never get always - get accurate information before bombing people to kingdom come and back.

    • @ShadesMP5
      @ShadesMP5 8 років тому +4

      Daniel Lewis The Iraq war had 2 phases: The Saddam Baathist phase and the insurgency. The war against Saddam and his regime was won in 2003. The Insurgency as a major military force was beaten in 2004 in Fallujah. The War was won in 2007 thanks to the Surge. What happened was there was no status of forces agreement. Which is what Iraq needed. Its standard operating procedure for secured US victory. Obama is to blame for ISIS in Iraq. NO question about that. ISIS would be limited to Syria if Obama had at least done the bare minimum.

    It was always interesting for me to travel abroad and find people in countries in Latin America, Asia and even Europe that thought Bush WAs a kick ass president. *I* as an American was surprised about ALL THE MONEY the USA was giving to countries around the world. A SHOCK is that the USA has an "American Hospital" on every city where there is an embassy. This is there to give health checks to people asking for a visa, but it is a FULL hospital and carries the same regulations than any hospital in the USA. NO ONE WILL BE DENIED HEALTH CARE .
    "Doctors without Borders " was a continued USA campaign . These were fully prepared jumbo jets ready to land on any country to give immediate help to any sudden medical emergency.
    I found out about this in CUBA of all places, where I saw a 747 with an American flag on the tarmac . When I asked , it was a "Doctors without Borders" plane trying to contain an eye infection that had sprouted in Cuba and was leaving children blind. Coincidentally the Mayo clinic was studying this freakish virus and had a cure. I asked friends to let me know how long the plane was there... It was performing operations and vaccinations for 3 years. Now, WE can say ."well THAT is TAX money" What we (I didn't know) don't know, is that a nice chunk of money is set aside in the USA budget to provide medical assistant to 3rd world countries. This was NOT Bush's idea it was Reagan but Bush had been the only president to increase funds. Katrina is such a god damn rabbit hole of mishandled funds and Corporate cheats I find it unfair to blame Bush for it.

When Ground Zero was still smouldering and New York City was still on its knees, he went to the Big Apple and made a spur of the moment speech with a megaphone, in which he said, "...and the one's who knocked these buildings down (the World Trade Center) will hear all of us soon,"

      You do remember all the times during the 90's that the Iraqi president claimed to have Weapons of Mass Destruction? and all the threats he made to the U.S. regarding the use of them don't you? And I hope you remember all the NATO envoys who were sent into Iraq to determine Sadaam's claims. During the 90's the Iraqi's caused nothing but trouble for the whole world, and Sadaam Hussein just sat back and used the , "I have WMD's" threat to frighten the world. Bush did not start the war, but he sure as heck tried to finish it. As a Democrat myself, I did disagree with him on many issues. However, I do know he could not have done anything without Congress's approval. George W. Bush became president during one of the most terrible times in history and cannot be blamed for 9-11. He had not been in office for very long when the attack occurred, and like most Americans he was blind-sided by the event, as for Hurricane Katrina that was FEMA's fault not Bush's. So many people think they would have done a better job under such terrible circumstances. Well, then run for president. Maybe you'll do better.

    • @Bungeestrapphil
      @Bungeestrapphil 7 років тому +3

      What lies did he tell? I'm just curious. 20 intelligence agencies around the world said that Saddam had a nuclear weapons program. Since Saddam kicked out the UN inspectors, we had no way to know for sure. Saddam Hussein lied to his own administration. He admitted this when he was interrogated. They would have assassinated him if they knew he didn't have nuclear weapons. He lied in order to strong arm Iran. WMD was only one of the reasons we went to war with Iraq. Saddam Also had defied 17 UN resolutions and had shot down our jets who were enforcing no fly zones in Iraq. Shooting at our military is not only an act of defiance, it is an act of war. Our current plan was to drop bombs on mostly innocent people which he Saddam successfully used to stir up anti American sentiment in his country. When you lie about having weapons that you threaten to use against our allies, when you defy the UN, when you break the terms of a treaty, when you fund and praise the success of terrorist acts against our nation, when you attack our soldiers, there have to be real consequences. We even offered to put Saddam into witness protection if he would step down peacefully. He chose war. We gave it to him. Now he's dead, and at least for the rest of President Bush's time in office, the world was better off for it.

    GWB will always be remembered for spearheading the two biggest disasters in American History.
    But... He isn't wrong when he says history will judge him kindly. I came of age in 2004, and we thought that he was the peak of fascism. But we were wrong. His work in Africa far out strips his crimes, but ...
    He is still responsible for the biggest two largest disasters in American history.
