    Durians, with their super tough rind covered in super sharp spikes and their overwhelming stench, are basically screaming "Don't eat us! Nothing remotely edible here". But SE Asians are like "Nope haha".

      SE Asians are in on something.Durian looks like a grenade/weapon.To me it looks and smells like creamy,slightly sweet onion/garlic sauce.I love to watch other Caucasians stare in horror as I enjoy it.

    I tried durian for the first time during my trip to China, it didn’t stink, it smelt like fruit markets, I honestly don’t understand how people find it stinky. The flesh had the texture and flavour of custard. It was amazing

      That's a pretty common misconception there. But also we eat these worms because we have to balance the ecosystem too.
      Too much worms cause invasion of habitats.

      As a person who has eaten both, I like the tofu much more than the eel. The eel still tastes good though.

      @@princesadepresa5396 they do not cover it in jelly in purpose, obviously. The jelly is just the cooled down eel broth from when it was boiled.

    Yes, stinky toufu does help people with digestive problem. I myself have gastric problem and my entire trip to Taiwan is at least 1 set of stinky toufu a day and I literally doesn't have any gastric problem for the entire trip. The problem started again after a week back home. Lol.

    I went to Taiwan and my fathers Friend was guiding us around. We went to a small restaurant which is well known for their stinky tofu. I was really put off by the smell but it actually tasted great!

    I spent a semester abroad in college and was in Thailand briefly and I was able to try durian. Honestly it tasted like garlic and caramel. It was peculiar but I liked it.

      SamurPie Jack ugh I can’t stand durian. But like the guy said, you either like it, or hate it. I can’t go past the smell and the taste is WEIRDLY sweet??! Like it really tastes like something rotten with sugar on top. My mom on the other hand loves it!

    The durian doesn't actually smell that bad if you're not close to it. I was in Singapore and I saw people selling durians, the smell did come to my nose when I went a bit closer to it, but it didn't smell very bad.

    Stinky tofu : Taste ok (not my favourite, but the smell...ooohhh! fuuhhh! help!)
    Garbage plate : Look hideous but to those who like extra calories (like me) why not!? hihi
    Chuntacuro : Ate one and my face start green! hahaha (I really can't!)
    Durian : Oh dear...the smell, stink like hell but the taste WOW!!! WOW!!!
    Jellied eels : NOPE! Definitely not me, maybe other people ok with it, it just me can't take it.

    Nothing *_funky_* about the Rochester _garbage plate._ Delicious comfort food. Many restos in the area sell their version but call them rubbish plate, trash plate, sloppy plate, dump plate, etc. All good. 😀👍

    Tried that tofu at Raohe street market in Taipei.
    I would describe myself as a very adventurous foodie.
    This made me seriously gag and I couldn’t finish it.
    Guess it’s like an Asian person eating Gorgonzola for the first time.
    However the food at Raohe street market is literally amazing.
    Dumpling heaven.
    Herbal pork bone soup is insane.
    They have these famous pepper pork buns that are also amazing.

    3:34 ooooh it can go even crazier! Cow tongue, bull testicles, donkey wiener, bugs, etc. Sardines are like beef to me, not special and extremely common.

    I think I'd really like stinky tofu, since I've always enjoyed stinky cheeses. I'd probably have to start low and work my way up tho. I bet Durian also tastes good, but the numbing flavor worries me a bit.

    Pav Bhaji is Lip- Smacking dish originated in 1850s as a midnight dish by street food vendors in Mumbai, made with all leftover vegetables, mashed up together with loads of masala and butter.
