  • We met Jacob Umansky backstage at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston just before his show with Intervals, to talk about his new custom Dingwall, Darkglass cabs, and the digital effects he uses to punish the stage each night. What do you think? Could you rock a 6-string Dingwall?

He said "this is the prototype of my signature model" like it's not an insanely big deal🤯

Jacob could play with a straight DI tone and crush. Dude is an awesome player and a cool guy.

    Wait… a Jacob Umansky Signature model??? 0:24
    I have so many questions!!!
    When is it coming out??
    Overseas or Canadian made??
    What will the specs be??
    - Darkglass but NEW 5 knob layout?!?
    - Obviously 6 string
    - FDV PU’s
Just had the John Taylor, and now this is in the works. Awesome!!

The Darkglass preamp has always been a 3 band EQ. One of the knobs is for volume and the other is a 4 way switch.

@@usaflagraybansoh yeah, duh on my part!😅. It’s not in the typical Dingwall 5 control layout. I’m guessing Jacob wanted either the volume or the rotary switch closer. 1 or 2 knobs are in a different location than usual. Maybe ALL are slightly different. Darkglass preamp gives more flexibility as there no joining circuit board vs EMG preamp.

@@usaflagraybans yes, but never this layout. One knob is approx where the active/passive switch goes.

@@WorbyBass it does look more like an Ibanez layout, which is probably part of the “signature” aspect.

Other channels should follow this format, include the sound demo

Man this would be really cool if Fractal Audio could get that preset for their gift of tones.

a .145 tuned to C sounds uncomfortable tension wise, its like 58lb of tension

    • @coveryourears3851
      @coveryourears3851 Місяць тому

Probably an A or G below the C for that tuning there. Periphery has a similar tuning

he was my teacher for a little bit, very talented but rude. same experience post shows too, him and aaron are great but kinda jerks

Seen Intervals a few times and never had that experience. All three of them manned their merch table for the entirety of the AAL set and just hung out and chatted with fans. Similar experience for the Plintervals tour.

Seen intervals plenty of times. Jacob's always gone out of his way to hang out and talk. By far one of the nicest dudes I've met.
