- I talk about how gemstones are enhanced with focus on fracture filling of Australian opal. As promised, there is a segment at the end on ocean jasper - on e of the nicest and prized of all jasper/agate.
I have no conscience, I'll take all your crack filled opals. Another fine and entertaining video
My heart is laughing out loud. I don’t know which is more beautiful, your art or your personality. I enjoy your videos so much! Keep playing and ranting because we love it 😍👀. 🖖🏾
Carol Alexander- Exactly!
WELL SAID!! I SECOND THAT!!💋🇺🇸
@@PulitzerOpal Nahhh..... Ancestry is better.... They have the most documented facts from the world updated daily..
Ditto. ❤️
Amen to that. Love this guy! If it werent for Pulitzer Opal, I wouldn't have a handful of opals to oggle. Hehehe
😂😂😂 I LOVE your sense of humor! I ALWAYS leave your videos laughing and having learned a few things.. Can't ask for more than that! Thank you!
You have reached new levels of entertainment.
I lost it when you digitally altered Murrys head.
I know there are some funny Americans out there, but in general.....most are dry.
I think it's a failure too be able to take the piss out of yourself ( an Aussie term meaning degrade yourself with humour and a touch of sarcasm) something which Aussies excel at.
You sure you don't have any Canak bloodlines ? 😂😏🍺
That opal came out great! Excellent work, and very entertaining video. Thank you for taking the time to let the rest of us experience some of your opal adventures with you!
I get so happy every time I see you post a new video! Thank you for the hilarious delivery and great information!
You are by far the most entertaining and enjoyable person to listen to on UA-cam. Please keep doing what you do!
Thank you,
Dr. Bryan C Gontarek
I thoroughly enjoy watching your videos. Your sense of humor is as colorful as your Opals. Thank you
Never owned a opal i will take a cracked one I would be happy
I hear you 👍🏼
I Like opal and Love Opal 😍
I really enjoy learning about new gemstones and especially about opal! You make great videos, thank you!
You are such a unique individual, love watching your channel. Always informative and always cheering me up. Rant on big guy...
Just found you here and am loving your videos. I enjoy lapidary and gems, especially opals; but I really enjoy yo the most.. You make me smile and laugh; such great pleasure you bring along with your knowledge. You are fantastic!
Thanks for all the information on fracture filling and for the good belly laugh. I needed that! ☺️
Thank for the info about cracks!!!! Tour videos brighten my day!!!😁😁😁
I wish I could bottle all your knowledge and sell it. The wealth of knowledge that you have is outstanding. I just thank you for sharing it with us mere mortals. I know my humor is not as good as yours but at least I try.Thank you again for sharing.
Always glad to see your uploads. The opal is interesting enough but love your unique sense of humor. I'd love to see you give a tour of something.
Long time watcher but first time commenting. Your rant sections were scathingly awesome, both your subject matter and delivery completely spot on. The 23andMe thing is a little scary. Nice work on the stone, you always work your magic to amazing results. Thanks for your hard work contributing to good content on the web.
Great video! You always make me laugh! That Casper is absolutely gorgeous.
Always entertaining and as always very informative.
This is the best gem Channel I found entertainment wise, and educational wise!
@@PulitzerOpal wow Donald, I visited your website and you have some beautiful stones the specimens are exquisite! Thank you again for your kindness and for your entertaining and informative videos, I look forward to more!
It's been awhile I have seen one of your videos. I really miss them when UA-cam doesn't notify me of them. Your sense of humor is wonderful. My dad always had that type. People would ask him where he lived and he'd launch into a complicated set of directions. After a momentary pause he'd say, "Never mind, you can't get to my place from there."
Fantastic. Enjoying you leaning into the humorous side but not taking it so far that it gets boring. Perfect balance, well done.
Glad to see your back : ) always enjoy your videos Thumbs up!!
Very enjoyable video! Thanks for answer my question on crack sealing - very informative. At least it makes some pieces that could otherwise be unusable into usable pieces. After all, all opal should be enjoyed! And your humor is very refreshing as well; I can always count on at least one good laugh :)
You are the funniest person I’ve come across in MY ENTIRE LIFE!
Why WHY WHY had I not already subscribed to you? Love opals since I was a kid. You are amazing
Omg, you’re channel is so fun. I am an amateur gem cutter. Thanks for all the information and humor you provide
Thanks Mate..I really enjoyed this episode..Love your work.
You are the best rock person so far. Never hurts to add humor.
I just spent my entire drive to work listening to your video I'm not sure why or how but I regret nothing 👍👍
I’m grateful for reading this tonight. This stop here was meant to be. Thanks so much.
You are so welcome
OMG, I could not stop laughing at this funny rant! And that garage looks like something out of Silence of the Lambs. This video was wacky, quirky and fun. Right up my alley.
As always, a wonderful and very interesting video. The opal is very pretty. I had an Ethiopian opal once that fell out of a pendant and it was in the windshield of a car during summer and when i finally founf it, either the impact or heat (or both) cracked it but weirdly it turned an ok colored opal into a rainbow disco ball that glimmered in the light. There were colors that werent even there before and had this lovely pastel rainbow glitter effect. Its actually one of my favorite pieces that sits safely in my china cabinets. Lol tfs!
What a delightful mishap! And I'd do the exact same thing--put it safely in a display where it can be admired by all.
I have Ethiopian one that looks like that. I want to do something with it, but I don't know what.
Very important information. Seeing them from last 2 years but never anyone told me about opal having cracks and they can be filled. Thanks
The opal at the beginning was stunning with imperfections and all; truly would be one i would pick. Opals remind me of my sister that has passed. (Her favorite) Thank you so much for the videos.
@@PulitzerOpal where can one Purchase this type of opal in the USA(Georgia) ?
@@PulitzerOpal thank you, i worry about buying something like this online.
You're so funny! Always enjoy your videos :)
Just stumbled (as usual) onto your channel. I like your style. Subscribed.
Another great video. As always informative & a " Tad " bit of humor ! P.S. The stone you showed at the first of the video reminded me of marbles that were heated in the oven for art projects. ( like grape clusters ). :)
You cracked me up. I've never tried filling in cracks in opal only jasper's. My wife liked the jaspers, I might have to try opal.... someday. Keep the rants coming.👾
Always a laugh watching your content love your vids and so jealous of the precious beauties you share with us
ALWAYS look forward to seeing you arrive! 🤓🌟
Love ocean jasper, jasper in general is awesome. I would love to see things done or tips and trick according to Pulitzer, that you can do with jaspers and chert.🙏😁
I ain’t got no business with opal or any other gem stones but you are so entertaining to me 😂. And well I get to learn a lot from your channel as well! 👍
♥️....I stumbled upon your UA-cam and absolutely love it..🤗
Incredibly informative. Thank you!
Those stones are gorgeous, I hope I get one someday!
Fewwww I really needed my Pulitzer fix
It’s been too long Donald
Always entertaining& Educational
Wow the opal turned out beautiful. Your wife is blessed to be able to wear it.
“Pay no attention to those people behind the curtain”, as he’s opening a weird oven hidden in his garage..
Haha! It came out beautifully! Murray better love it!
I was REALLY hoping to see the result with that 1st big crack job you showed, the big egg. Can you do that one? That would be very dramatic. I adore your rants and your dating of yourself in diapers in 2000. FAB!! It's extra fantastic to get your straight from the hip honest info about lapidary materials. SO refreshing. I actually want to support your channel as much as I can, so I never click off the ads, and often click ON them, just for you (and I might even consider considering a Purple mattress if I don't throw up from saturation of ads first)! Your channel is a MUST for all students of gemology and the need to laugh! I cook and clean, can I come live with you and your honey and apprentice?
Bahahaha what you did to Murray’s face throughout this video. I know ‘Muz’ would take it all in his stride, coz he’s Australian like me. Shortening name’s is also what we do. 😉
I love your sense of humour. Please give us more of it. Could use a laugh lately.
Kira 🙃🇦🇺
Love your videos!
I just love these videos.
I throughly enjoy all of your videos, your beautiful craft is only matched by your wit! I do have a question.... I have a lovely set of opal jewelry that has a bit of crazing in the stones, is it necessary to take the stones out before I put them in the repair solution, or can they be left in? (14k mountings) Many thanks, will defer to your advice.
Donald your such a cool guy. Thank you for your videos. God bless us all crazy rockhound!
I still love it I would love to know what machinary would be a good to learn turning the rock with. Love the vlog
Another great video!! Thank you sir!!
I really don't think Frank cared how he looked. Thanks for the great belly laugh. Your info and your personality is always a deelight!
Fracture filling. Mind blowing!
I always love watching your videos! So calming, educational, and funny! Thank you for making these videos, I'll always be here to watch them. 👍
Nice Rants
Great info
Love the humor.
I told that joke a hundred years ago.
You know...
When I was an old man.
Christopher Walkin goes on a rant ! I like the introduction to different stones portion. I had never even heard of ocean jasper (I was barely aware of jasper at all). Thanks for another cool video. Keep on ranting!
WOW! So beautiful, awesome video, so how do you come about finding that oven that sucks all the air out of the stones, lol but I really would like to know. I have some special little opals yellow, pink, orange, they're all from the USA but some have a few cracks. One guy told me to put Epoxy to stable the stones, and just buff it all over on the stones, and it will seal the cracks. I bought the stuff he recommend, it can take really high heat. I have a black opals but you can see through it if you hold it to the light. But it is really soft, and I really don't know if I should put the epoxy on it. Your the opal man that I would only listen too, because I think you really know what your talking about.
As always love watching your videos, I saw your assistant setting up on that shelf looking all good and stuff.😂😂😂
I hope you can help me make my mind up on what I should do.
I hope you have a great day, and God bless.
The ocean jasper is amazing. What a wonderful world!
Beautiful work.
We'll, you made me laugh & learn again. Thank you much❣️
Who knew gemologist and comedians were synonymous and they know so much about genetic security? You and I are two of a kind, sir.
PS thanks for the introduction to ocean jasper! The more stones like this I know of... the less I feel the need to create and instead, go out and find the art already created by something much more talented then I.
@@PulitzerOpal ... well... I hate to disagree with you on your channel... but in my book, opals are gems, and you are an ologist. So.... just take the compliment, buddy. 😁
I've always have liked that Ocean Jasper and that largeone you had was very beautiful. I know he had to be a very good friend for you to have given that to buddy :) :) LOL
@@PulitzerOpal Well that would have been a great reason then!!!
I’ve procrastinated enough!
Today is the day I will drill out the lock on my jewelry chest.
I’ll send pics of my “opal” ring today!
After I have some coffee and eat breakfast and rest and vacuum and ...
Great video btw!
Fixed that stone up very nicely. Have you ever heard of a teardrop glass pendant filled with crushed opal and liquid so that you can still see the color flash when it moves?
Love the character in your voice, you from Oklahoma? I dig rocks sooooo much and your video too. Thanks for sharing. 2 thumbs up!
Come for the opal info, stay for the hilarious Personality and awesome voice 😂
There room on that boat for one more 🤣 great video 💥
Love your channel, ty
Very informative video. Thank you
Could you please share photos of the crack filled opals before and after in the same frame? I'm curious to see a comparison between them.
Very interesting video today. Is the treatment just on the surface, or is it possible to get cracked rough, fill it and then cut, and polish after. Thanks for sharing the jasper the one with the red on one side is just stunning. 👍👍👍
@@PulitzerOpal no red jasper is an unusual none I think, I havet seen much.
Very interesting brother. I think that arrowhead shaped one was outstanding but then again looking for arrowheads is one of my favorite things to do. I was surprised to see that for some reason 👍🇺🇸
Pulitzer Opal I will have to search them out. Most of my vids are arrowhead hunting
You would make a fantastic teacher!
"Gemstone faker" I love that term. I'm going to use it from now on. It'll drive my lapidary friends crazy.
I think this is one of my favorite videos. Opal seems so fragile & to see that it can be filled is like magic to me. Will you do another video like one if you think it an idea? Please.
Tuned in because of Rookie Rockhounding. He is right...you are hilarious! I subscribed. Does Murray really look like Cary Grant? ‘Love the rant!
Hello...I truly enjoy your videos...thank you for sharing your knowledge...where are you from ? Sounds like a Louisiana accent...
Is it possible to split the stone along the crack and maybe make a doublet or a veneer for some pretty cool dentures or something. ?
I actually don't mind the cracks, there's a beauty to imperfection I appreciate. I would also buy fracture filled pieces like this, they are still so gorgeous!
The other thing I'd think to do would be to just break it apart where it's cracked and make smaller stones for earnings etc out of the small pieces. That way as you polished them it'd get rid of all the cracks.
Very interesting from an opal lover!!!
Just found your video. My late mother was a lapidary and as I go through her riker mounts I keep finding opal after opal after opal... but I live in the desert and oh so many of them are beautiful.... and cracked. Not -split-... but the lack of humidity has done a number on them. I will definitely give this method a try to see if I can salvage some of them.
She cut them herself, so it's a sentimental thing.
That is awesome! ALL opal can crack, but "hot and dry" is a really bad combo!
Love your opal u tubes and your you tube.
As an established investor/cutter, I would have first used hands and then perhaps tools to break it up. Sometimes a saw cut across a cracked area can reveal how old the cracks are. If it is possible to cut a stable piece(s), I will do so and then sell the stones to understanding friends who are quite happy to get such beauty for little...and I get something back to defray the loss. I should mention however, that I have never been offered cracky opal by any reputable dealer. Like you, Murray has given me such stones over the years, but the key is that neither did he suggest that I fracture treat the stones, nor have I ever done so. But the Opticon has been readily available for decades. :)
wow it so amazed your opal stone, congrats an thank to your vedios my friend
Incrível! Amo o seu trabalho! Adoraria receber uma lembrancinha por mais simples q fosse do seu canal. Lol e Sucesso a vc amigo!
@@PulitzerOpal adoraria receber uma lembrança sua. Adimiro muito o seu trabalho.
Oh this is so funny! Excellent !!!!
I was looking at a piece of yowah opal that I wanted to make into a pendant with beautiful color but some surface cracking. Do you think this method would only pertain to translucent, neutral opals, not something with multiple surface colors?
I want to work with you sooooooo bad! Oups forget I said that or you' ll think I'm weird...I'll just binge watch all your videos and try to suck up all the knowledge you shared on youtube!! Thanks for the treasure!!!....and your wonderful sense of humer.... don't mind my writing mistakes I'm french!🤪
@@PulitzerOpal well I'm from that other country/province that's french... Québec in canada. But we can pretend we're related anyway 😁 i subscribed to your Instagram, i wish there was more pictures of things you make. And I was happy to see one of the opal buttons that you made sewned on a shirt i presume. I viewed the video you made showing the fabrication. Beautifully made!! Oh how about 'très beau' which means very nice or very beautiful. Now you know four words in french!😁
That jasper is amazing. I love jasper
Nice video as always
Wow ! Awesome opal..nice video my freind..
Amazing work! That fracture fill really made that opal look great!!!It's funny how they say diamonds,Ruby, sapphire and emeralds that are ok to use resin!!I didn't know that!! However I'm pretty darn sure that fracture filling/resin impregnation for Jadeite is frowned upon haha!! Lastly I think that this would be great for fixing a stone you already have, however I Would Not be buying a brand new fractured Any Stone!!!lol😬😁
