On rare occasions I have someone off the street comment, "Hey did you just dump the garbage and the recycling together?" My reply is, "It's the way the office put my route together today. Give them a call. They might have made a honest mistake." For anyone who truly wants to make a small, but positive change in the area of reduce, reuse, and recycle - the first 2 should be your top priority - recycling is by far the least effective. You'd be blown away by how much genuine recycling gets dumped at the garbage dump. If you see a recycling truck collecting straight recycling, and you think "Oh I feel good about that" it often goes straight to the incinerator or landfill without you knowing.
I do waste disposal. This mostly happens on roads that multiple trucks cant get to. So they just grab recycling on the trash truck too to lighten the load on the actual recycling truck
Who the fuck cares. The only reason i recycle is cause i run out of room in my can. I dont give a shit where it goes as long as it gone when i get home from work.

As a trash truck driver I see companies weekly dumping right next to me that claim to be recycling only. Both my trash and their recycling will get pushed up into the same pile too. It all goes to the same place in my region apparently
Too bad recycling actually costs money so if anything people should pay to have their shit recycled until it becomes profitable. It’s a privilege I guess to feel like you’re not polluting even though you are
I've seen the city trucks do the same thing here in San Diego. The only reason that I have any concern about it is that the city is complaining that they are running out of room at the dump. It will be some expensive bureaucratic solution. At one time, the city of Tijuana offered to take the trash in San Diego for less than what it cost for San Diego to process it. Bureaucrats and politicians were screaming that it would be taking unfair advantage of Tijuana, so they didn't do it.

They have different separating processes now then they used to.. alot of recycling plants now use big hoppers that every goes into, that has a huge fan on the bottom (like those indoor skydiving things).. those fans blow all the paper and cardboard at the top, and the heavy metal and such stays at the bottom and it also does more neat stuff that I dont feel like typing...

For anyone who truly wants to make a small, but positive change in the area of reduce, reuse, and recycle - the first 2 should be your top priority - recycling is by far the least effective. You'd be blown away by how much genuine recycling gets dumped at the garbage dump. If you see a recycling truck collecting straight recycling, and you think "Oh I feel good about that" it often goes straight to the incinerator or landfill without you knowing.
You are right on brother. Had my time on a garbage truck and when the recycling depot said no more, we dumped the recycled in the regular garbage.
Spot on!... I've said on many comments that the only solution to waste is to not create it in the first place.
I do waste disposal. This mostly happens on roads that multiple trucks cant get to. So they just grab recycling on the trash truck too to lighten the load on the actual recycling truck
All you ppl who say you dont care what happnes to your shit.... Y'all need to look thus shit up and see our trash issue FOR REAL!!!
Who the fuck cares. The only reason i recycle is cause i run out of room in my can. I dont give a shit where it goes as long as it gone when i get home from work.
You are uneducated and lack of knowledge
Why the hell even recycle in that town ? I'm sure the drivers are encouraged to do this practice, unreal !
Lino DeMarchi why the hell don’t you recycle?
No the supervisor probably ordered these employees to do that to save money on gas as this looks to be a very contaminated recycling room so it’s probably not worth even bringing it to the recycling center
I called the council in Australia - in Melbourne to be exact as I wanted to know more information about penalties so I can tell my cousin about it as he constantly mixed garbage.
They told me “it doesn’t matter if you mix the garbage, they sort it out later”
I’m like .....wtf
More then half the time people throw trash in the recycling bin I know I throw trash for a living
Almost everyday there's wood or styrofoam in the recycling bin on my route.
@@bdnbdn2055 it’s sad people there are people who don’t know how to recycle properly
As a trash truck driver I see companies weekly dumping right next to me that claim to be recycling only. Both my trash and their recycling will get pushed up into the same pile too. It all goes to the same place in my region apparently
Can't ever get mad at the worker bee, look at the owner
We should get paid to recycle. Then we wouldnt have this problem
Lol there are some garbage men that actually are nice and actually does their job right I will forever be great full for the drivers who treated my brother with special needs like he was apart of team by bringing him vest and letting him help out just in front of the house something so little meant so much for him for us
So respect to all them who does their job with love even through it’s be hard at times
You'd be surprised how people wake up so early just to watch us!
Shit I do. I film the trucks
We get the same shit in Scotland when we empty the bins
My favorites are the "peepers"
Those are the people who peek from behind shades or pinch open blinds..
I would always see them on the night shifts I worked. I always waved hello to them.
My favorite is when they check the can right in front of you lol like did you not just see me dump you're tote bitch?
City hall blonde is hot as fuck
Facts we separate the trash at least 7 diffrent ways anyways. There are 5 different grades of plastic that have to be separated. Paper glass and food waste also
Fox needs to leave these people alone bagged stuff can’t be recycled
“Wants you to believe virtually every can is filled with trash” proceeds to flip lid and show 2 cans with pieces of plastic wrap that are not recyclable, AKA Garbage
Bro why tf do people make such a big deal abt it
Exactly over some damn trash
There's other stuff going on in this world and you guys care about this
Recycle is dead folks. I manage a recycle center. Very little plastic is recyclable anymore. No market for it. Period so get your facts before you jump on your garbage guy.
Wow such a groundbreaking story. Smh 🤦♂️
This video changed my life
Try trying pack out early lmao I understand the struggles
At the end of the day... I wouldn't give a crap as long as they pick it up!
A story worth reporting! This is what the media should be doing. Making an actual difference. Great job guys!!!!!
@TrashPanda RaccoonI was referring to the general lack of good informational news. Seems like most stories we see are opinions anymore and not based on any facts. #ImADemocrat 👍🙄🤦♀️
Your dumb af I wish you knew how hard this job is and dangerous. Im a trash man but we don’t have the loaders everything is done by hand. Recycle is a huge hassle along with it only makes people lose money and it can’t be shipped overseas.
@@nataliaengelby9251 k bye 👋
@@nataliaengelby9251 if your going to try to insult me do it right... It's "you're dumb af" 😉 I care about our planet. Recycling is important if done properly. I never said a job as a waste management professional is an easy one, however it's a job that you chose to have so it should be done properly. I'm a phlebotomist. Children and elderly are hard to stick. Doesn't mean I can take shortcuts because it's hard. 🤷♀️
OK, now officially k bye
@@nataliaengelby9251 You mean plastic? China still accepts uncontaminated, sorted plastic. Also, you ignore metal, paper, and glass recycling. Also, the garbage collectors should not even be touching the recycling bins.
China stopped accepting your recycling last year. Where have you been??
Build your own facility in your own country
I better watch out for paparazzi next time 😂🧐
People DO throw garbage in with the recycling. It's not an insult, it's simply reality. I find myself looking it up and thinking wow, this is garbage, I woulda tossed it into recycling. Then you have people who don't think twice. They think it should be able to be recycled, therefore it will be. Or they think these sorters are infallible magical machines that never break and are super cheap.
Y’all try doing this job perfectly in negative degree temperatures. Cut it out…
as a former garbageman i can tell you this happens more then people know numerous times my supervisor told me to mix garbage & recycle usually when another driver calls out & were the only truck in the area..... but usually he would tell us to get all of the recycle first then come back around & get garbage so residents wont know 😂
There's nothing funny about deceiving people!
I see this all the time! I was thinking why even take the time to separate the garbage if they’re just putting it in the same truck. Doesn’t make sense.
If you see a side loader doing this it's probably a split body. It has a divider to keep trash and Recycle on their separate sides
I encourage you to reach out to your government.
Former recycle driver. 75% of the cans I pick up contain more trash than recyclables . And the whole tagging the can situation is pointless. You would be tagging almost entire neighbor hoods and no ones recyclables would be picked up . No one recycles correctly
Everything goes to the landfill anyway
👍😉
Gawd I am soooo happy that my city doesn't outsource contractors
That reporter couldn't last 10 minutes doing thier job. If I was the workers I wouldn't have said one word to him!
If I was a worker there I’d prolly get fed up with the job and leave since recycle doesn’t look like it’s being handled properly
You didn’t see ME do anything to they separate it at the dump? Your workers were just confused about procedure to blaming the customers, yadda yadda yadda. Just be honest and stop charging for recycling if your just dumping it in the same place.
Its common practice. All the airlines do it; as to most hotels and other businesses such as Whole Foods. They just mix all the garbage together. The separate containers are only to pacify the stupid customers. Recycling is a stupid waste of time and money and most businesses won't do it.
As a sanitation worker I can honestly say people do mix trash and recycling together. If we don’t take it recycling won’t take it
That's true. They do separate the trash and recycling at least were I live.
I will give them a call as soon as u leave my office 😂
She keeping her job 😂
Nearly every resident does put trash in recycling cans
We do that here in chicago all the time in commercial garbage/recycling there is no money in recycling these people have no clue what us garbage guys go through honestly the company threw those guys under the bus i can almost guarantee that the company tell those guys to mix because they are short handed drivers and short on recycling drivers so they have the garbage guys get everything
I'm a garbageman and 95% of people do not recycle properly and put trash in the recycle cans anyway. So it really doesn't matter!
Slow news day huh
I will say 95%of recycling end up in the landfill. Im a Garbage truck driver that do recycle and Trash.
They must’ve moved too my town. We have Rumpke and I’ve caught them numerous times dumbing recycle in the trash truck.
These people ain’t got nothing better to do than hate as working men.
The men with real jobs.
Be a garbage man for a day
Shoot even the managers most of them has never done the work ..
thing is, most garbage is sorted, the trash trucks at the warehouse pick up both the cardboard and trash cans at the same time and the same truck
I work for a garbage company in Ohio and we don’t do recycling but the landfill we go to doesn’t take the time two separate the trash from recycling they just bury it underground and no I don’t take recycling bins I leave it cause there’s other companies that come around to take the recycling
HAHA we have been doing this for years! 🤣🤣🤣
When the dude says yea they do and touches his nose, usually a natural body language for lying 🤥
Saving the environment. Straight to landfill instead of driving around collecting in seperate truck take to recycle centre to end up in landfill.
I'm sure this is happening all over the United States. The cost of recycling is going up all over.
The only recyclables worth it are metals and paper. Plastic was created to be thrown away. It's a shame but that's how it is.
That dam news reporter on how he act!!!!pshhhhh middle finger lol
They do so much work give them a brake
Actually, by collecting recyclables with garbage, they are adding to their workload.
"You didnt watch me do anything " lol
The home owner they should get $600 dollars fine they are old enough to know better and know the difference and the company are picking up o collecting the trash they should get $600 dollars fine for dumping Recycle products into Regular trash !!
Most of these guys are private contractors these days. They save a ton of money in dumping fees doing that crap. My town had a huge scandal years ago over bribes between contractions and and town officials.
Used to work sanitation in Ny.that shit deadass goes the same place lol.
You only supposed to put one in each truck that's why they have recycling and trash
My home towns dump sorts out recyclable shit. Did community service there and sorted it myself
BIG DEAL!!!!!!!!!!

This fella sends his meal back 50% of the time when he takes his wife to fudruckers.
I'll say it again, "never trust shit!" If you want to know about something, do your own leg work...
Bags can’t even go in recycling anyway!
Bingo
The problem is privatization. Please let professions like this be public sector.
Don’t make the trash man mad , he’ll win in the end. If you care about recycling that much then bring it your self.
Reporter: just watched you put them both in
Garbage man: You didn’t watch me do anything
Bro has some nerve
Bagged recycling doesn’t go into a recycling. I’m a garbage man and if I see a contaminated recycling I’ll dump it. Glass and dirty plastics do not go into recycling
Every resident does fill every trash can with trash
Did they get fired
Hopefully.
