    "Things you never use in real life" is the perfect thing to say to encourage students to learn it lol. Wouldn't it be better to demonstrate how some people use it in real life and highlight the importance of that? Apart from that, I like your quirky style and you did a good job of reminding me of things I forgot last century.

      You don’t use it in real life unless sometimes so he’s being honest what math is supposed to be for is to keep your brain working hard

    I don't quite understand what the difference between the two is. Aren't they both essentially just saying that the order you add/multiply numbers doesn't matter?
    To me it looks like the only difference is how you change the order of operations, either by changing the order they're written down in, or with perentheses.
    For an example of where my understanding of this breaks down, if you turn 3(4x) into (4x)3, are you using the associative, or commutative property? On one hand there *are* parentheses involved, but you're not actually changing which factors are in them. If you treat (4x) as one factor, then it seems like the associative property. But if you treat 4 and x as seperate, then maybe it's the commutative property. I'm just really confused.

    • @Albert-rg5qi
      @Albert-rg5qi Рік тому

      Associative Property is mostly use to group variables/numbers/items with parentheses. Commutative Property is just arranged different.

    • @ambulantgaming8483
      @ambulantgaming8483 4 роки тому

      their actually pretty similar, some key differences are that associative typically involves at mininum 3 numbers and usually has parentheses while commutative mainly is just the rearranging of 2 numbers tho it can also have 3. So basically the amount of numbers and whether or not it has parentheses

    This is NOT how associativity works.
    You are embarrasing yourself.
    It's a shame.
    For God's sake, withdraw that video.
    It's never too late.

    • @davidreeves1034
      @davidreeves1034 3 роки тому

      True, but no need to be mean about it! The associative property only moves the parentheses (changing what you do first), it does not change the order of the terms.
