We are 4th year medical technology students from the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines! We have heard about the mini-flotac and was astonished by its’ capabilities. In line with this, we are currently conducting a research regarding its’ specificity and sensitivity against the traditional kato-katz technique. The mini-flotac has not been researched yet in the Philippines and we are proud to be able to do so. As you might know, the Philippines is one of the many Asian countries wherein infection of parasites such a Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichura and other parasites are rampant. We are asking your assistance with our research. We would like to be able to provide a better way for us Filipinos to diagnose and accurately confirm the severity of the infections. For trematodes use a solution of LST Fastfloat it's an alternative to zinc sulphate for egg flotation. LST Fastfloat fluke eggs being more dense compared to nematode eggs.LST Fastfloat also has a low viscosity which means that eggs are floated off very rapidly and so have little or no distortion
