Lovely aria from "L`Africaine, a grand opus by Meyerbeer. The aria is sung by Vasco da Gama, a portuguese navigator. Wonderfully sung by Mr. Lanza. I also like the way he sings "Pays Merveilleux", another aria in the same opus.

that's not the only reason he moved to Italy he felt controlled by the people he was making movies and its what in the end killed him because of his rapid changes in weight he thought he had a more full sound when he was bigger but the movie makers wanted to maintain his charming appearance so he moved to Italy and was welcomed with a parade

I adore this aria and I also enjoyed it in Because You're Mine. I'm aware it was prerecorded for the films as it was for all pictures at that time. It's still Mario's voice and it is awesome!!

I belong to the mario lanza institute for more than 30 years, and was good friends with marios son Damon.
