  • Is it possible for a person to grow beyond narcissistic behaviors? First, let’s clarify that we are not talking about people with NPD, but rather people who have narcissistic traits, the category that most people fall into. That said, the answer is yes! Are we saying they can simply outgrow it? No! It is an arduous task that takes 100% commitment and focus, an experienced therapist who uses a directive therapy approach, and must address five key areas that Dr. Hawkins explains in this video.

You resonate with me. I so appreciate your videos, and style of teaching. You're caring and sincere it seems. I'm going to reach out because I'm married to a narcissist husband! He will not go to therapy and I'm going to have to seek a divorce I feel there's no hope any more. I feel I must move on, would I be able to seek counseling myself for the abuse. All the therapist "LICSW" I've seen on and off over the years have never struck a nerve in me, as you have. I need help. Thank you. 🙏🏻

Agree completely with those 5 points. The bottom line is, will the individual humble themselves to be teachable…I’m not seeing that, unfortunately.

How do you convince a narcissist to seek therapy or this type of therapy?

Unfortunately we cannot. I know been trying. They have to choose it or it’s not going to happen. We can choose to have healthy shame and vulnerability or not.
