Stormy River Rock Hunt/Cutting Rocks

I was passing through the area and decided to stop for a rock hunt on Crystal River near Carbondale, CO. It was supposed to be sunny with no chance of rain but it ended up storming. So instead of a hour rock hunt it was about 5-10 mins. The few rocks I kept we take home to cut open.

100% agree. Best time to hound a river when everything is wet. But keep an eye on the surroundings not just the rocks 😅 incase of a flash flood. Rock on 🤘

Wow, it sure didnt take that storm long to intensify! But it was a cool little rock hunt in the rain. There were so many pretty colors of rock around there u kept wondering why you didnt pick up this one or that one, and the answer is pretty obvious, they were jusr pretty rocks!! Thanks Kurt! The cutof that hornsfeld was really nice; it almost looked like a picture stone! It was gorgeous! Does that stone polish well? Thanks Kurt!

Hey Lisa, it definitely intensified quickly lol and I thought it was going to to end 😂 soon. There is always so many beautiful rocks on that river I just try and pick up the more unique looking ones. The hornsfeld does take a nice polish.. May have to do a polishing video on that soon. Thanks for always watching my content.

All the pink stones you saw are likely Pink Orthoclase Feldspar which is part of the granite family. When the pink Orthoclase feldspar is polished it’s considered Pink Moonstone. 😊
