I was blessed to see and hear Pastor Bates do this song in person at a revival in Chattanooga a few years ago! The Holy Spirit and Tommy Bates blew the top off of that church!...in a good way of course.

He is not the Oneness Apostolic belief. He is Pentecostal. He may be with the Church of God Cleveland TN group now. Not sure. I haven't talked to him in years. I love how he plays and sings this song. I am from the mountains in SE KY where this song came from. His roots are in this part of the country. He is heavily influenced by SE KY Pentecostalism.

Not all Pentecostals believe the same, but when we say Apostolic, we are just using another word for being pentecostal, based in part on what Apostolics believe. There is a difference...Apostolics think they are the only ones going to Heaven...they believe their belief is the "truth" and everyone else is wrong and is going to wake up in hell. They are all Pentecostal but not all Pentecostal are Apostolic. They believe the that God, Jesus and Holy Spirit are all 1, not 3 different entities. Acts 2:38 Extremely strict and very judgemental in my experience but sincere christian people.

We sing this at our Pentecostal Holiness Church in WV. We still maintain the Holiness standard. Old,fashioned sure ain’t nothing wrong in that.
