One thing that you need to be careful of when doing close guard from the bottom is to protect your knees. I have seen some people have their closed guard opened and then they use a knee shield and then they end up injured because of the opponents weight on their weight.
This was a Great video. Please more BJJ in gi. The instructions were crystal clear to understand.Cover the different positions for a new white belt and technique. FightTIPS never fails to produce the top quality material.
This was awesome! Glad to see more grappling videos. Currently a blue belt in BJJ, with wrestling and judo mixed in. Please keep these videos coming! Gi, no-gi, stand-up, groundwork, all is good. =D
Nice - I learned a few things! Thanks! :D Passing the guard has been one of those things where I feel like I just get stuck grip fighting haha. I love the bicep pin- into stand up- into knee technique. I d idn't think to chain all that together like that!
Hi I'm Darby I'm just getting in MMA I don't know witch suit I want to follow completely but I'm so thankful for all the videos and please keep coming with the tips they have helped me so much all ready.
Good addition to your channel, Shane. I'm a nubie to BJJ (though I'm adding it to my skill set), but wrestled a little in college and have a high rank in Karate.
Good video thanks for the bjj demonstration and effort put into this video. Ignore half the comments that are rude and offensive which are written by children.
Rank: 3 Stripe White Belt How long I've been training training: I started in 2016 for a consistent 10 months, balancing a military life and a personal kinda got in the way, I had to take the entire year of 2017 off because of me being unable to juggle everything. I came back in Jan 2018 and I just received 3 stripes from my professor in Dec 2018. So in total about 2 years of training.
That 3rd position is the first one I'm goanna try out I think that one if done quickly will be the easiest out of them all to pass the guard, maybe....
As a second degree black belt in shorin ryu karate with some wrestling background these jiu jitsu lessons are great since I only get to learn jiu jitsu when I'm cutting weight for wrestling and we would scramble
6:07 sure u are safe but if u want go to side control he take u in a easy half guard, if u want go next to side control on the left side u most take the right leg👍🏻
My best time on the mat is when I can’t do something, because I don’t know, then I come to UA-cam, find out & then I can’t wait to get out there and try it.
Hey guys loved the video, I've been training for just over a year now in jiu jitsu, I love the gi but my passion is mma/no gi, could you cover some techniques using striking to advance position/ get submissions thanks :)
i just got my blue belt acouple weeks ago. started training in the beginning of 2017. i'm a tall skinny guy so yes i get destoyed often in strong ppls closed guards and/ or players who are very technical at the position. i am looking for ward to trying these techniques i think i've hit something similar to the knee punching the butt move once or twice to escape. Onegaishimas!
I want to see a submission series that she likes to use preferably one that is good in gi jiu jitsu and mma because I know some of the best lessons are the ones that are somebody's bread and butter. I trained bjj for a whole year, wrestled in high school, and I've had small amounts of jiu jitsu training since then so I am like a glorified white belt but it's a little annoying because I feel like sometimes higher belts go too easy on me and then it's kind of awkward when I submit them. Anyways nice vid, I recognize this woman from my jiu jitsu lesson playlist here on youtube but I think she was a brown belt back then. The lesson was passing guard while opponent is defending with knee shield I believe. Eager to see more from y'all, see you guys later.
Happy New Year Shane, quick question, if you were in a street fight, would you be more comfortable standing and striking or on the ground and grappling? if given the chance to control where the fight goes.
if multiple attackers then standing, if one on one and you are the superior grappler than obviously on the ground, take less damage and can render unconscious without as much risk to yourself
Would you recommend Judo or BJJ for self-defense in the street? Also, do you think boxing is good enough to complement the grappling art for the same purpose? I don't have lots of time to train and I thought it'd be easier to master punches rather than punches, kicks, knees and elbows. Thank you for taking time to read this.
Jqn I started doing boxing and BJJ for self defence, BJJ is amazing if you stick at it for a long time as you will destroy most people on the ground. I stopped doing both, then went back to just doing boxing, as it's great for fitness, and It's a nice feeling knowing how to use your hands in a fight, I'm a pretty skinny dude but boxing has given me a lot more confidence when I come across idiots on the street. I posted my first fight on my channel if you are interested bro. I would say either do MMA or boxing and BJJ, or Muay Thai as being able to use knees elbows and legs is a lot better than just hands, hope that helped a bit 😊
@@mcgregorglasgow9810 lol I was skipping the video like I watched every technique for like 5 seconds and move on so i missed the part where she puts the hand on his hip. Rewatch it again with time thanks for point it out
Hi shane, im a newbie in kickboxing and my guard breaks up easily in sparring when my opponent attacks me with jabs and cross so i hope you make a video about the proper form of guard and how to keep it up when gettint attacked thank you :-)

Great video, learned alot. Any videos on how too get, out an Arm bar?
no gi
White belt love the tips!
« Stip your booty »at that very moment the men in black really started to enjoy it haha
In Position 1 isnt easy for one to get and arm bar from the guard? Her elbow is pretty exposed.
That’s why the other hand is pushing the hip down. Take away the hip mobility and he has no arm bar.
