    One thing that you need to be careful of when doing close guard from the bottom is to protect your knees. I have seen some people have their closed guard opened and then they use a knee shield and then they end up injured because of the opponents weight on their weight.

    Rank: 3 Stripe White Belt
    How long I've been training training: I started in 2016 for a consistent 10 months, balancing a military life and a personal kinda got in the way, I had to take the entire year of 2017 off because of me being unable to juggle everything. I came back in Jan 2018 and I just received 3 stripes from my professor in Dec 2018. So in total about 2 years of training.

    i just got my blue belt acouple weeks ago. started training in the beginning of 2017. i'm a tall skinny guy so yes i get destoyed often in strong ppls closed guards and/ or players who are very technical at the position. i am looking for ward to trying these techniques i think i've hit something similar to the knee punching the butt move once or twice to escape.

    I want to see a submission series that she likes to use preferably one that is good in gi jiu jitsu and mma because I know some of the best lessons are the ones that are somebody's bread and butter. I trained bjj for a whole year, wrestled in high school, and I've had small amounts of jiu jitsu training since then so I am like a glorified white belt but it's a little annoying because I feel like sometimes higher belts go too easy on me and then it's kind of awkward when I submit them. Anyways nice vid, I recognize this woman from my jiu jitsu lesson playlist here on youtube but I think she was a brown belt back then. The lesson was passing guard while opponent is defending with knee shield I believe. Eager to see more from y'all, see you guys later.

    Happy New Year Shane, quick question, if you were in a street fight, would you be more comfortable standing and striking or on the ground and grappling? if given the chance to control where the fight goes.

    • @G36Kaers
      @G36Kaers 5 років тому

      if multiple attackers then standing, if one on one and you are the superior grappler than obviously on the ground, take less damage and can render unconscious without as much risk to yourself

  • @jqn8361
    @jqn8361 5 років тому

    Would you recommend Judo or BJJ for self-defense in the street? Also, do you think boxing is good enough to complement the grappling art for the same purpose? I don't have lots of time to train and I thought it'd be easier to master punches rather than punches, kicks, knees and elbows. Thank you for taking time to read this.

    • @worwor1721
      @worwor1721 5 років тому +1

      Jqn I started doing boxing and BJJ for self defence, BJJ is amazing if you stick at it for a long time as you will destroy most people on the ground.
      I stopped doing both, then went back to just doing boxing, as it's great for fitness, and It's a nice feeling knowing how to use your hands in a fight, I'm a pretty skinny dude but boxing has given me a lot more confidence when I come across idiots on the street. I posted my first fight on my channel if you are interested bro.
      I would say either do MMA or boxing and BJJ, or Muay Thai as being able to use knees elbows and legs is a lot better than just hands, hope that helped a bit 😊
