Yeah - it's not something I'd be keen to use for big builds or mods in case it gets patched. If they leave it for a while like forcefields, then maybe!
I made a 5x5 10 blocks high and started placing wood frames down and it collapsed. I’m guessing because I did not upgrade the blocks (rails)on the base of the 5x5. Just something to keep in mind for whomever need to know.
Interesting. It would be fun to build a sky base with these blocks accessible only by the gyro. Gives me some ideas. Thank you CP for this fun and informative video.

Until the next patch :) It'll be kinda fun to play with since you can put in even just extended balconies and bigger warehouses without needing to put in shelves to hold up the roof! Heck even the big aquatic center swimming pool poi I tried to build needed extra supports, which this would help, by making invisible!
its sound realy stupid. if you whant something creative, go on creative Mode. All block who make Fly base must be removed or fixed ! Its absolut stupid to have a base floating...why you play the game anymore them...go play minecraft

Would love to have something like this even if targetable, the invisible and passthrough would make it great for supporting the interior of larger bases without looking cluttered by pillars. Specifically thinking of my Ravenheart game as I would like to have a 2nd floor garage for vehicles since I can't pick them up and want ground floor for dealing with zombies.
I'm half convinced this isn't a glitch- when I was building a base that had walkways (the walkway wooden flooring and squared railing wall in one) as the edges of a cube (to stop me falling off...) but later added plates to the outside for an added protective layer, the railing part of the walkway block disappeared just like this one. I didn't think it was supposed to but it seems like it merges with the other block for most of the railings, and in my case left only the floor part of the block visible. I think it's a "feature" of railings that they do this, to prevent clutter internally, in bases maybe.
I agree, I'm sure I've seen it in POIs as well at things like the small staircases at the front entrances to buildings. I don't remember which ones, but if they "fix" this one day, they'll need to update a bunch of POIs too I think
Interesting and it might be fun to do it with a chute for Molotov and/or grenades, not sure if they are going to fix the block or not since the possibility to path through is intended. The Funpimp could just add the possibility to destroy the block under them to the rage mode of the AI
It's a two part: Hit F1 to bring up the console, type in 'dm' and hit enter, and F1 again to close the console. After that, hitting F5 will toggle between first-person and third-person. Once in third-person, hit 'p' and then '[' to detach the camera and fly it around. To get back to first person, hit 'p', then '[' then F5 and you should be good. If you get all twisted around, (for singleplayer) you can logout and log back in again and it will reset.
It's interesting for sure. I don't know how easy it would be to patch with their engine. I don't think it changes gameplay very much as there are already many ways to build an AFK base if that's what you want to do. And the fact that you can't repair the damaged blocks makes it a risky thing to do for a base. I think it will just become a useful asthetic tool to add support in place of bulky blocks - to make structures look leaner and less blocky.
That's actually my hope on this one - I'm nowhere near some of the guys that build huge epic detailed and pretty bases, and I hope they can use this to make them even bigger! I'm not holding my breath, but that would be cool.
I would use this for my crafting area but not for the fighting base. It's more fun to fight than just stand around waiting for the "morning chime". I wish the f-pimps would leave some of this cheese alone. There are players that like it for building and just messing around.
Hey T, yeah using it for the visuals on bases to allow more creative design was what I'd expected to use this for when I found it. I wasn't expecting the AFK to work at all, as the small scale tests all got destroyed.
if you mean the pink guns and block replace tool - yes those are, but you have to be in creative mode and give yourself them - you can't get them in game. IF you just mean does the block trick still works - then yes to that too :)
It's one of the "more human than human" abilities the fp gave the z's, along with long reach, ninja abilities, jumping, climbing, spitting, etc. I'm not bitter though. No . . . all in good fun.
I actually like this mechanic - and would love to see more of it for zombies trying to get up high, rather than just following ladders and player made paths. I'd have to be done carefully to avoid exploits but would be cool to see them climb over a wall by creating a zombie pile!
@@TDurden527 Well, to be fair, in a real zombie apocalypse, they'd just rot away after like a month and there's no way the military couldn't handle a bunch of slow moving melee fighters when pistols can kill them.

Absolutely! Even just big warehouses - the player could walk through and not even know it's there (unless they are trying to place blocks, then it might be a bit weird :D).
It’s very interesting indeed, but I didn’t use it in my large prefab builds (like the Space Shuttle), because it might be patched. If the ‘bug’ is still in the definitive (Gold) version (in 2050 😂), then I will use this invisible feature for sure. It cost me a LOT of time to get the Space Schuttle stable enough without it.
Not patched yet - I'd be surprised if it's patched in 1.0 - my guess is they've been focused on their target content, and changing this will be low priority. Maybe in one of the later patches though... we'll see soon!
With your block selected on your toolbar, you can then either hit shift-r, or hold r then select the "Shape" menu. Once there - select the "Catwalks" menu on the left edge, and within that list is the blocks you need, which you can either find by looking, or use the search box. Hope that help!
Thanks mate, and great question! Had to go and check it, but no, painted blocks still go invisible when you connect the next block to it. And once invisible, you can't paint them.
If they choose to fix it, I really hope they leave the current version in Creative Mode, for larger stable prefabs. I really don’t get why TFP refuses to make poi-versions of the turrets, bladetraps etc., including electricity for prefab builders. Of course without the possibility for players to alter that, so no using or picking up of a poi-turret for example. No prefab turrets, traps and electricity takes away immersion imho.
I feel like, if they do bandits with raidable bandit bases, they'll have to add in poi's that can store wiring and turrets etc. Unless the bandit camps don't do wiring and traps, which would be a bit disappointing. Surely the bandits need to defend from zombies too?
It should be fixed, but if not I don't really care. For me horde night is "sacred" and I'll never afk. I like to fix my base after a hard battle, counting the bodies and, of course, check all the loot.
This silly simple things are the ones the lame pimps rush to fix asap, I was looking for something like this for a good time by now, gonna add it to my cheese repertory for sure until is fixed ofc. Thx for the video awesome work as always
Personally would only use floating plates as the ground floor of main pillars, yeah its great that I can drive 4x4 through the invisible catwalk, but zombies (and explosion?) can damage it while unable to repair is just a big no no for me, on the other hand it would be a great interior invisible support beam where aesthetics can matter lol
Agreed, I was fully not expecting it to work for AFK, and with it not being able to tell how much damage there is... just too risky. But for base building and making things look nice - I love it!
This is an interesting one for sure ....Not really sure if the Pimps will fix this one..they might do more damage trying to fix this one .They might just leave this one alone .
Ofcourse they're gonna patch it lmao. Its the fun pimps we're talking about. They spend more time patching base designs than actually working on the game.
I think the only real upset would be in pvp. Of other players dont know they can destroy the bottom blocks of a floating base, i could see how that could be annoying. But imo, it shouldnt be fixed for any other reason than potential pvp frustration, as the blocks do not behave as expected/ designed. On the other hand, single or cooperative play could have a lot of fun making spaceship builds or experimenting with these blocks!
Good point on PvP! The only way to bring down an invisible column would be to destroy the block it sits on, which could be difficult to find! I didn't check explosion damage, will have to see tonight if rockets hit the invisible blocks.
Simple, if you don't like it don't use it. It is nice to have some glitches like that as he said for style on structures if that's more your thing etc. I hope they leave some glitches up to the game player to utilize or not rather than remove everything unique/neat. Too much glitch-removing steals some fun aspects of the game.
Used the invisible block glitch during your "Defend the POI" quest making it 3x3x3 and used bar blocks as a floor, then fired exploding arrows down on the zombies. It works great!!!
I believe the difference in the zombies being able to target the invisible block comes down to the height you built them up to. Saw somewhere else that zombies wont go into "destruction" mode if you are more than 11 blocks away from them.
It could be that, but with the stacking they should have been in range as the platform was on the 13th block. So zombies should have been high enough. Also, when there's no path to you the destroy area mode is triggered anyway, regardless of the usual fall trigger.
I disagree that its a bug. I think its intemded for the rail to vanish against a wall. Clearly though, they disnt intend for it to be used in this fashion. Yeah i think theyre going to change it quickly now that its been discovered.
@@FraterAlephYeah they work the same, kinda - the railing disappears, but the stairs in the middle remain, and extend - allowing broad stairs using the one block.
@@CautiousPancake it's exactly the type thing I would do if I were a programmer in order to make life easier for the POI designers. If they fix this it will entail going through and revamping a lot of POIs where they used a double rail instead of a single rail because they conveniently had the block in their hotbar at the time. I think they'll definitely do it but it'll take time. It may be one of those things where it gets put off for a long time as a result like the arrow slit blocks were.
I just found out about this, really surprised we haven't gotten a patch just for this. As one commenter said, Funpimps just had a bit "Horray, 10 years of Alpha!" post that celebrated their spending all their time fighting against players vs adding content to the game. I imagine they might just straight up remove this block and the others mentioned.
I'm not sure about removing it - I think there would be too many POI's that use the blocks to do that easily. Some people suggested updating the geometry of the block to stop this is pretty trivial so it might get fixed (I'm not a dev so no idea!). Personally I hope they leave it for a bit, I don't think it's worth exploiting for AFK - there are easier ways - and it gives a lot of flexibility for making good looking builds, which is what I'd like to keep it for! Having said that maybe multiplayer it's a problem, so we'll see!
UFO/Plane build base! :D Closer to the Vultures; joy!! >XD 1st time I came across one of those it scared the crap out of me; it's not just zombies! 4:10 - Fuck no, they're pulling a WW Z!! Ha - 4:15 - You mention WW Z! >XD
it would be great if it became a toggle option for players who want to make a cool looking floating base, because that way it easily solves the problem, it allows players who want this glitch to use it while also having it be not in the normal modes of 7 Days take the devs from terraria for example, the player base had discovers a way to move without any inputs using sloped blocks, this glitch is called a HOIK and Relogic saw this glitch and left it in as an intended feature. im not saying that 7 Days should be the exact same but more so allow the players that freedom to choose if they want that in their world, because yes there will always be those players who want to use a floating horde base but cosmetically it looks really cool to have a home floating in the sky but the likely outcome is that the devs will remove this glitch entirely while understandable it still sucks for the aesthetics
well i think it fine since if you abuse it then you would never know when your base get blow up since they get dmg with explosion... and you cant really repair since they invisible! but for afk temporary i think it work great.
I love it. tho its deff cheesey a.f. I would bet FP will fix it. but wish it would stay or have some variant. Leave it to the players to decide if they want to make use of it for bases or for deco or what not.
All the floating tactics are obviously bugs. If there is no visual connection from bottom to top, it shouldn't count as vertical support. Whether The Pimps fix it or not depends on whether they think that it will trap too much noobs into just going with a cheese build that is efficient but also very boring instead of actually playing the game. they didn't fix floating in general, force fields, obstacle drop courses, the slide and a few other pathing exploits. The roundhouse fix will likely be that zombies eventually give up reaching you and just go into area destruction mode. That said, it is hard to create arconian funnel buildings with the limited structural support mechanics in the game. So i might exploit the hell out of this actually invisible floating technique to improve the look of my buildings. I will still provide proper paths for the zombies. But with invisible supports, i can create some realistic but also bold looking tower and bridge structures which just aren't possible without floater cheese.
Agreed - I think that's where this has the most utility - with additional supports creating better looking buildings where you can have more realistic looking large interior spans, without needing to put in columns, or hold the roof up with shelving. The AFK part was not expected to work - smaller scale tests failed due to normal rage mode type mechanics - so most that try will fail, or my filming run was a fluke. Either way - prettier builds works for me!
I don't know either - haven't had any server admins respond to the video and say they would insta-ban anyone doing it, I suspect it would come down to why you did it - if it was for an internal aesthetic, I suspect it would be ok, but if you just did it to try and grief others, then ...
with those really tiny blocks that you cant drive thru.. it could be used as a cool way to set up an ambush on multiplayer on a road... wait for people to drive into an area blocked off by almost invisible tiny bits and then shoot them dead.. or just to be annoying... maybe surrounding their base with little bits so they cant get out easy.. could be funny
this would be amusing use for a pit trap one. and it'll get killed i'm sure but honestly i wish they'd just leave crap like this. i feel like 9/10 its not apvp game at this point.
For builders is a great block I wish people would not divulge this stuff it ruins it for those of us that love to build thats Why I never talk about my tricks when I find them
While I understand what you mean, not many of the techniques I've talked about have been patched out, only the trader exploit did, which was expected. I think the Devs have enough on their list that only the most extreme issues are going to be modified. I could be wrong though!
it's interesting from a technical perspective, but the point of the horde night is to build normal defenses and survive... so unless you're on a pvp server, where pvp is the focus, there's no point to this
Yeah, I honestly wasn't expecting the AFK part to work, all the small scale tests had failed, then I built the big one for filming, and ... that happened. For me it'll be mostly when you want to build a bigger building or weird base, but can't get the supports to happen naturally, that this will be an option to use.
Not everyone survives the same way. Some ppl like to fight others dont. You sound like TFP in saying if you dont play my way you shouldnt play at all. In a SP game ppl can play or survive however they want, not how you and TFP want them to.
For anyone wondering, this still works in v1.0 (b333)
I was wondering about explosive damage. Are the blocks affected like normal? Seems like they may be.
Thank you :)

But for base building and making things look nice - I love it!
just made one, got a hord night coming next night, looking foward to trying it out
Good luck, hope it goes well!
This is an interesting one for sure ....Not really sure if the Pimps will fix this one..they might do more damage trying to fix this one .They might just leave this one alone .
Yeah, we'll see shortly I'm sure - either with a quick patch, or not - who knows!
Ofcourse they're gonna patch it lmao. Its the fun pimps we're talking about. They spend more time patching base designs than actually working on the game.
A slightly bigger exploit than the cactus. Let's see how long it takes FP to fix this one.
True, the 🌵 just aren't prickly enough!
A21.3 dropping any day now
🤣🤣🤣
I think the only real upset would be in pvp. Of other players dont know they can destroy the bottom blocks of a floating base, i could see how that could be annoying. But imo, it shouldnt be fixed for any other reason than potential pvp frustration, as the blocks do not behave as expected/ designed.
On the other hand, single or cooperative play could have a lot of fun making spaceship builds or experimenting with these blocks!
Good point on PvP! The only way to bring down an invisible column would be to destroy the block it sits on, which could be difficult to find! I didn't check explosion damage, will have to see tonight if rockets hit the invisible blocks.
all ten people playing unmonitored pvp would be very upset indeed
@@APunishedManNamed2lol
floating farm hell yes
Absolutely!
Thanks for that, I agree with you! as long as it's not hurting someone else's game, or negating core mechanics it should remain!
Awesome find! Probably be patched out in future releases but then we'll find another way to fool the zombies, lol.
Thanks - and too right!
Used the invisible block glitch during your "Defend the POI" quest making it 3x3x3 and used bar blocks as a floor, then fired exploding arrows down on the zombies. It works great!!!
@@nichjoht Oi! No using my glitch to defeat my own quest - that's outrageous! 🤣🤣🤣
👍👍
Has this been patched yet?
Not yet!
@@CautiousPancake Sweet! Can't wait to try this out.
I aim to misbehave 😆
Shiny - lets be bad guys :)
looks like the best cheese since they killed door bases. 100% would use. also 100% needs fixed but will be fun till it is fixed.
Haha - my thoughts exactly!
100%
That's an interesting though - I hadn't considered that. Although if it was meant to disappear, wouldn't that be just like the single rail?
@@CautiousPancake I see your point. Do the railings on the double railed stair blocks disappear when placed against a wall?
Aren't repairs impossible? Great vid
The FP shouldn't spend this much time "fixing" things.
Bring on the bandits!
Ok, I can't tell you how much more I like the classical music on horde night opposed to base beats of death... that was getting so old.
Thanks! I try and mix it up, so that I don't overdo any particular genre, and just also find something that fits the mood of the video.
@@CautiousPancake You did a great job.
I think it a game and it's fun to have Those glitches
Future patch, players report bases falling out of the sky lol.
Haha - that would be kinda epic :D
Nah. They'll be on this pretty darned pronto. Good choice of music for the fly by shots of the invisi-tower.
Thanks - always fun to try and find the right music!
As with all things 7 Days, enjoy it while you can!
Absolutely!
>XD
Haha great minds think alike!
it would be great if it became a toggle option for players who want to make a cool looking floating base, because that way it easily solves the problem, it allows players who want this glitch to use it while also having it be not in the normal modes of 7 Days
take the devs from terraria for example, the player base had discovers a way to move without any inputs using sloped blocks, this glitch is called a HOIK and Relogic saw this glitch and left it in as an intended feature.
im not saying that 7 Days should be the exact same but more so allow the players that freedom to choose if they want that in their world, because yes there will always be those players who want to use a floating horde base but cosmetically it looks really cool to have a home floating in the sky
but the likely outcome is that the devs will remove this glitch entirely while understandable it still sucks for the aesthetics
I agree this would be cool to keep in the game! We'll see soon enough which approach TFP take...
well i think it fine since if you abuse it then you would never know when your base get blow up since they get dmg with explosion... and you cant really repair since they invisible!
but for afk temporary i think it work great.
Yeah that's definitely the weakness!
would like to see a base mod that is on a ship in the middle of the ocean or in space or on the bottom of the ocean
That would be nice!
Not something I'd use, but would be nice to see it stay because of the fun visual
Thanks, that's what I'm hoping for!
likly to be fixed, and i think it has something to do with the lack of hit box as you could drive your car through it
Yeah, they might not like that part, but I hope it stays in - just for the extra build capabilities it gives for larger, more open structures.
I love it. tho its deff cheesey a.f. I would bet FP will fix it. but wish it would stay or have some variant. Leave it to the players to decide if they want to make use of it for bases or for deco or what not.
I agree 100%, am loving it for the build flexibility!
Im going to use this to make a base that looks like the Brotherhood of Steel Airship
Sounds amazing - I'd love to see it when you're done!
Awww but…burger 😂
watch this gets patched sooner than you can say "cheese". Fun pimps take all the cheese and fun out of their games, making everything chore or unfun.
I fear you're right - hopefully they can leave it in a bit for nicer buildings!
i wonder if u'd get banned on a multiplayer server for using this to make a base?
I don't know either - haven't had any server admins respond to the video and say they would insta-ban anyone doing it, I suspect it would come down to why you did it - if it was for an internal aesthetic, I suspect it would be ok, but if you just did it to try and grief others, then ...
with my luck this will be patched as soon as they know about it. thanks for the video!
Hopefully you get some time to have fun with it before it's patched!
hmmmm lil hatch in the middle and drop boom booms till my lil hearts content
100% great for explosives base
Did you all know about the bow glitch to use infinitely consumables ?
I don't! Are you able to share?
with those really tiny blocks that you cant drive thru.. it could be used as a cool way to set up an ambush on multiplayer on a road... wait for people to drive into an area blocked off by almost invisible tiny bits and then shoot them dead.. or just to be annoying... maybe surrounding their base with little bits so they cant get out easy.. could be funny
haha that would be funny, unless your the one getting smashed :D
this would be amusing use for a pit trap one.
and it'll get killed i'm sure but honestly i wish they'd just leave crap like this. i feel like 9/10 its not apvp game at this point.
Hovering over a pit trap would be almost the first base to do for sure!
I would use it to make a MAHOOSIVE castle with no obstructing supports inside and I do mean MAHOOSIVE.
Gotta love a good castle build - I hope we can keep using this to add supports to larger open structures!
it's interesting from a technical perspective, but the point of the horde night is to build normal defenses and survive... so unless you're on a pvp server, where pvp is the focus, there's no point to this
Yeah, I honestly wasn't expecting the AFK part to work, all the small scale tests had failed, then I built the big one for filming, and ... that happened.
