  • Sailing boat "Time Flies" on a journey up the east coast of Australia with Dean and Fiona. We leave Mooloolaba early morning to time our arrival through the notorious Wide Bay Bar.
    We continue on to see some of the sights of Fraser Island and navigate through some shallow sand banks.

      Thanks Lee, our boat is a Northshore 33 its a well known Australian built cruiser racer. We use openCPN on the laptop for planning passages and use Raymarine MFD Navionics on the helm when coming into anchorages. Cheers Deann Fee

      We know a couple of mottle owners, great layout down below and a well built yacht. We have a raymarine wheel pilot which does the job ok on a 10mtr yacht. Our boat is for sale if you are interested.haha

      Sailing Time Flies have you guys finished sailing how much are you asking for the north shore and whats the draft and what the ideal draft for coastal cruising /are you looking to buy a lager yacht

      We haven't finished sailing Lee, we love living on the water and looking to buy a larger yacht so we can travel further. Our boat has a 1.7mtr draft which has been very good for east coast Australia and around the Whitsunday islands.

    Long time between videos but well worth the wait. Nice video. I have sailed that passage many times and have just recently bought a house at River Heads and we can see Kingfisher Resort from our lounge. Will be bringing my boat up from Brisbane soon so will be spending a lot of time in the Great Sandy Straits.

    May I ask what your draft is? Did you have much clearance crossing Wide Bay bar? Thank you Gray

    • @SailingTimeFlies
      @SailingTimeFlies  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Graham, time flies has a draft of 1.7mtr. We didn't find depth a problem at all going through the bar. Although we did lots of homework and stayed on our route. We were very lucky to have perfect conditions and didn't find it no where near as bad as what we had heard.
      Cheers Dean and Fiona

      I think we got the latest way points from VMR the day before. There are a few sandbars you want to avoid on your approach.

    Really nice location but the small worry about crocs would be a bummer. How often do you see them?

    • @SailingTimeFlies
      @SailingTimeFlies  7 років тому

      Thanks for watching jack, It was a fantastic spot to anchor. We have not yet seen a croc on our travels, I have heard is is very rare to see them on Fraser island.

    What do you use the timber plank for on the pushpit rail?

    • @SailingTimeFlies
      @SailingTimeFlies  6 років тому +1

      HI Noel, The main purpose of it was as a fender board. We only used it once but it did come in handy when tied up to to the pier in bermagui during an east coat low. Used it as seating a couple of times but decided to get rid of it when we arrived in the whitsundays. 👍

We are now in Far North Queensland and have posted a few vids on the way that you might be interested in. If you'd like to see crocs you should go via the Hinchinbrook Channel.
