And I asked if you were stupid because your comment was needlessly aggressive when she was talking about the traffic in Egypt, which many people do. Traffic in Cairo is chaotic. I think that it would be much better if they have marked lanes that would be respected. For me it was very chalanging to cross the street, usually doing that with some locals. The trafic lights for pedestiran crossings were quite rare and mostly just a decoration.

      When I was younger as an Egyptian I would have 100 percent agree with you. As a got older , I got to realize the real truth. A couple of hundred years ago there were no cars, no asphalt roads , no side walks. However you had amazing buildings, cultures , communities, environment, nature, etc. Then came cars and roads and imposed on the country its rules. Some countries decided to follow the rules of the road imposed on it. The others like Egypt fought back indirectly and unconsciously that the public spaces are for communities / culture . In order to build these roads they had to destroy many cultures, communities and historic buildings. In order for cars to move around , they have to polute the sky and environment. While I can go on and on about the Egyptian government is terrible , it can't organize the roads, but truthfully people want to have a community. In Egypt you can easily find cafes , restaurants, shops , businesses, communities that share the road not just the cars . Egypt is rather a huge country with a massive population in a small area on the Nile. Therefore the environment imposed many restrictions on the population. The environment encourages communities, when you impose cars and roads, It creates the above mess you see. No amount of fixing can truly be done unless we truly rethink the idea of urban design

    • @Touya_ahmed
      @Touya_ahmed 3 дні тому +1

      Yes, unfortunately,
      It is a problem accumulated over the years. The old government ruled the country for 30 years and left everything in a chaotic manner..
      vendors cause chaos even though it is illegal in Egypt. I, as an Egyptian, am bothered by this, but the government is trying to develop solutions such as establishing commercial centers for them away from the roads. This is happening now on some roads, but it takes time to spread..

    • @Touya_ahmed
      @Touya_ahmed 3 дні тому

      @@PiflaThe current government is trying to fix this, but fixing something when problems have accumulated is expensive and more difficult than building it again, because as you said, you must infringe on some things in order for this bad situation to be fixed.

      Awesome man, that's exciting! I think (aside from issues the police may give you while filming/photographing), Egypt is a photographers/videographers paradise; there's so much to see. Never take photos or film the police (or government buildings), and you should be okay. If you do somehow accidentally take photos of them and they stop you, they will just make you delete it, so not a big deal-but it's annoying and not fun either. Best to avoid doing it.
      And no that isn't Attaba Square, though it's sort of close. The area where I got stopped in traffic and had to wait a while is at the corner of Port Said street and Al Azhar. Here's a link to some random shop at that intersection maps.app.goo.gl/fz28ScC3jpFav2uQ8

      @@Gventures But Franco is also easier to read for those who can't read the Arabic letters so it does have its utility, to flat-out reject it seems a bit of a self-righteous attitude, no?

    • @Gventures
      @Gventures  9 днів тому

      @@Nocturnal-gn4jp Lol you are trying to act like you know me but you have no clue bro. You are obviously attempting to challenge me, that much is clear, except it's not working because you are saying I flat-out reject Franco. Use your brain. If I flat out rejected it, I wouldn't be writing in it, would I? So what are you blabbering about. Let me share my opinion about Franco and Arabic with you, since you obviously have no idea but seem to think you are clever and are attempting to jump to conclusions for some unidentified reason.
      If someone can read and write in Arabic, write in Arabic. For someone who is learning Arabic but can't write in it yet - sure, use Franco. I fall into the latter category. I am learning Arabic but can't write in it yet. But trying to read Franco - especially long sentences - is stupid, if the person who wrote it can write in Arabic, why write in Franco? It's more difficult for Arabic learners like myself to read in Franco. Firstly, because if it is actually just written in Arabic, then I can practice reading Arabic, which is what I would much prefer to do than read Franco. Secondly, if I don't understand, I can use google translate. If it is written in Franco, it's written all crazy because everyone writes in Franco differently, and if I don't know or recognize a word, there is no way to translate that. Make sense? Great.

    Controlled Chaos, is the only way I can describe Cairo traffic. You are an amazing and adventurous lady to drive in that city, let alone on two wheels. while In Egypt on business in 2010, I hired a driver and car to take me from Heliopolis to Cairo daily. The traffic on that main drag between Heliopolis and Cairo was difficult to traverse as well. I was wondering if you could clarify something, do Egyptians have to file an income tax return like we do in April here in Canada and the United States? when I left Cairo in the early sixties with my family, I was not of working age, so I don't know. I know from your videos, that they pay sales taxes in Egypt. With regards to our previous discussion on the new Sphinx Airport, I did a little research. It turns out that the Sphinx airport was originally known as the West Cairo Airport- a military airport- now after they added the Civilian Terminal it is a co-use airfield. it is a joint civilian-military airfield. Much like you would see in many joint US Airports like Phoenix Skyharbour and Niagra Falls International.Anyway, thanks for this impressive view of Cairo and your equally impressive driving skills.

    I'm travelling to Cairo in November. Your videos have been very helpful. I'm thinking of doing Cairo 2 days, then 3 days in Luxor. Do you think 2 days is enough to see the major sites in Cairo with Memphis and Saqqara?

    • @Gventures
      @Gventures  9 днів тому +1

      Thank you Sam! I personally do not think 2 days is enough...but I suppose it could be, depending on what you want to see and what you are willing to skip in Cairo. You would also just be rushing around sightseeing all day and then not get to experience as much of Cairo life if you try and pack in as much as possible. But again, it all depends on your preference. Memphis and Saqqara (and Darshur) is like a half day trip or even full day trip just by itself. Then in Cairo/Giza you have the Pyramids of Giza, Cairo Museum, NMEC, Khan el-Khalili market, Cairo Citadel, Coptic Cairo, many other mosques and the Old Gates of Cairo in Islamic Cairo...yeah. There's a lot to see. In just 2 days, considering the closing times of many of these places, it's too much to see, and would also be exhausting rushing around. But that's just my opinion.

    Hi GiGi, thanks for the video. It is nice to know that they have metro if you don't want to deal with the heavy trafic. I'll visit Cairo for a single day in November after my tours in Aswan and Luxor. I'm interested in visiting the Islamic Cairo, the Egyptian museum and may be one of the pyramids. I have a guestion because I have a limited time in Cairo I can visit either the red/bent pyramids or Giza. It looks like the bent and the red pyramids are more hassle free than the one in Giza. Is it good idea to visit the red and the bent pyramids over Giza?

      Exactly 🤣 But there are no tourists coming to this exact area anyway. Most are further up where the main entrance to Khan el-Khalili is. I was also just referring to that particular corner where the Uber driver's hate to go, probably because of where most of them are coming from, they are on the opposite side of the street. To get to that corner, they would have to go ALL the way up and around like I did in the video, and with all that traffic, they absolutely refuse. It's just not worth their time.

      @@andrewjacobs1055 I dunno, I've never actually stored luggage anywhere, I travel with a 40 liter backpack. But someone that came to Egypt said they kept their stuff at the first place I linked and it was fine. I mean, they are paid for that exact reason. I always keep a small travel lock on my luggage (my backpack) anyway, just for extra security to deter anyone from trying to open it. Honestly though, your hotel really should allow you to just keep your luggage there. It's standard practice in Egypt for them to do that, unless you're going to be away for a very long time, you shouldn't have a problem.
