You inspired me to go check this place out! I've always wanted to try Michelin star restaurants in NYC but never had the guts to go on my own!
I know what you mean. It can definitely be a little intimidating to dine at a restaurant alone, but sometimes it's just tough to get people to join, especially when the food can be costly like at a Michelin starred restaurant. 63 Clinton in particular, had great service and made me feel so welcome even though it was just me. I hope you enjoy it!

Interesting to watch these reviews of some of the less well known Michelin restaurants in NYC. I went to 3 on my last visit in 2017 (Nix, Kajitsu and Dovetail) and they've all since closed! So on the lookout for options for my next trip.
That's a shame. It's hard running a restaurant, but it's got to be really tough to run a Michelin Starred establishment. I would definitely recommend 63 Clinton. I really enjoyed the food and I felt like the restaurant provided great value.
@@Jamesnu The pandemic hit a lot of restaurants hard and continues to have a knock on effect. We're even seeing some of the really heavy hitters closing here in the UK - Le Gavroche (the first UK restaurant to get 1, 2 AND 3 stars) and Marcus have both announced they will be closing shortly. Luckily, I've already eaten at both but it's definitely a sign of changing times in hospitality. I can live with it if it means an influx of new places coming out of left field though.

It was so good! Yeah, as far as caviar goes it was a solid deal, but still pretty expensive for me. It was at least worth it!

Not sure whether to wish you a belated birthday or pre birthday for next year since it’s now November. So Happy Day!!! Every day! Although
I gave you a thumbs up, I would not be a big fan of a restaurant like this. It appeared to be a bit too grungy and the decor seemed patched together, The garbage in front of the restaurant before you go in to eat was a nice touch as was the peeling paint. Some of the food looked good but not a big fan of the presentations or food combos. (Giant gray rustic pottery plate with 1 tbs of food). I know it’s the trend to present food on huge plates with a small amount of food but at least provide beautiful plates. Grey/gray plates make the food look unappetizing. But…hey it was your birthday and you enjoyed it so that is all that matters.

55 bucks for a temaki loaded with what looked like over an ounce of caviar is a pretty good deal.

Thanks for another informative and entertaining video. I am a big fan of the Lower East Side + St. Marks area. So this will def be on my radar moving forward. Thanks for sharing your experiences. By the way, how is the housing and rent situation in NYC right now (post pandemic). From the streets it sounds like they are raising monthly rents again. It seems only millionaires can live on Manhattan now 😞 BOOOOOO.....
Thanks for watching! Yeah, I'm also a fan of that area. The variety of restaurants it hosts is incredible! Housing and rent is still expensive, but it seems to be stabilizing a bit now. However, it's still so ridiculously expensive.
@@Jamesnu I know RIGHT. Even the artists and musicians are being forced out of the city. So SOHO and Greenwich Village has really lost it's artistic and Bohemian Feel. I may go into it further one day, but basically, I started running pretty suddenly. I did a 5k and then just kept wanting to run further and further until I ran my first marathon about 3 months after I started.

Happy birthday James! I think having a date for a birthday dinner is over rated. While the camaraderie is nice and that does sound selfish, when there's amazing food in front of you, it can be somewhat of a distraction -and not to mention your videos may not be as enjoyable.

4:30 - I did a little spittake when he said, “I _feasted_ on …” and it showed a quarter teaspoon of shellfish covered with a parsley leaf. 🫢😅
I’m happy he dug it for his birthday, but that’s why I steer clear of forceps dining. 🤷♂️✌️
