If it wasn’t snowing out, I would be on the course right now practicing! Thank you for your content! I used to use a comb for this but sadly I don’t use that anymore…you caught me by surprise. Too funny!
Excellent series of instructional videos - I am surprised you do not have more subscribers. I am enjoying working my through the videos. Many of the principles you discuss I have read about in various books from players/coaches you discuss, but it is always better represented visually i.e. in your videos. The spine angle commentary is something I have not come across but interests me as something that I should maybe consider, and whether I need to be more adaptive through club selection. I am trying to figure out how my feet position, grip, distance between my feet, uprightness/posture, and distance from the ball work into this, or whether the combination of those things enables the spine angle. Searching for improvements being the reason. Keep up the good work and I look forward to new videos!
Hi Kane - thank you for your kind feedback. If you search through my archives you’ll find some vids on pre- shot routine. A good pre-shot routine will deal with most of those points and that will clear your mind to focus on the shot in hand. I hope you find that helpful - let us know when you find it and keep us posted on your progress 👍 Kind regards, Luther.
Hi Luther..love your videos on grip and posture..brilliant..especially your discussion on the left thumb which I have never heard before. While I have tried to adopt your setup routine I find that my shoulders are wide open and not automatically square as you suggest. Is there something you can recommend to ensure a square alignment? Many thanks!
Hi Matthew - thank you for your question. Make sure your posture allows you to grip the club with a truly “parallel” left thumb - particularly the top of the left thumbone. Also, make sure your ball position is correct and not too far forward. Also use a mirror or window reflection to check by putting a club or tour stick across your shoulders. I’d rather you a hint closed than open. Hope this helps - kind regards Luther
Luther, I have tried many different swing models. I am curious about your techniques, coming from someone that early extends or suffers from over the top. When I have tried to implement your basic fundamentals, I feel it hasn't impacted my downswing path as much? And the result is ok shots, but nothing great. Do you have any advice or provide any online lessons?
The same grip can look completely different depending on set up. I have worked really hard on my set up, and have improved. But the reason why it is so hard for the average golfer, is that they are right eye dominant and naturally want to look at the ball with their right eye,out of fear of missing it and/or an aggressive instinct to hit it. A lot of great golfers have been left eye dominant,eg Jack Nick, so find setting up easy, as they are looking at the ball with their left eye. This is hardly ever mentioned in the history of golf teaching.
Luther, I love your instruction and this tip on grip and posture has helped me a lot, however I still every once in a while popping out of posture and thinning shots to right , any suggestions?
Hi - try this, hit 6-irons at a very specific target but stick an umbrella in the ground about 20 yds exactly on the ball to target line. Hit shots off a square stance that start a little to the right of the brolly and draw back. If you can hit this shot it is almost impossible to stand up through the shot - let me know how you get on 👍 Luther

Excellent lesson. Thanks Luther.
Thank you John - it’s good to know I’m helping a keen student!
