The man, that gave him a ride is my uncle. He is the wealthiest, but most humble person in town. He helps everyone, no matter the situation. He got 'good vibes' from Mr. Phillips and said this while he cleaned his shotgun. If you ever want to meet the nicest, but most intimidating person in the country, he is it. Your uncle is an amazing example of humanity. Please pass on our best regards from across the pond, I still think about my visit to your town every day.

That dude embodies what most people think of rural Americans - nice, friendly people that are completely willing to help a complete stranger and absolutely loves his town. "If you have any problems or something', let me know. It's only 8 miles, it aint no big deal." Lovely to see friendly compassion these days.

Random guy, walks up to another random guy he doesn't know, thinking "he looks out of place and probably lost" and says "Do you need a ride, or some help?" That is how people should treat each-other.
Hands down the best vid I have watched on your channel. From "I'll give you a ride so you don't have to F*** around" through "He's stayin' at your granpa's hotel" , "do you know Bob and Carol from London?" and "do you know T-Bone - I worked with his son Pork chop" to "Is Ricky flying out today - no thats tomorrow." Alliance a town where everyone knows everyone and there is no such thing as private personal information. I love it I want to move to Alliance.

We actually got to watch your video together as I am visiting her now. I'm not going to lie, I teared up a little bit feeling so proud of the people you met. They are truly indicative of who we are. Kind and friendly people who take care of each other and new friends. Thank you so much for putting us in the spotlight and showing that there is something out there. Nice message Erin. I bet it was strange seeing your home town featured on a worldwide video. How did you know your town had been featured? Are you a fan of Noel's work?
I commented earlier that this video has inspired me with a destination for checking Nebraska off my 50-states list, but now you've given me a time of year to visit! (Though most Aussies like me enjoy seeing snow...)
It's very like Australia out there. I lived in Melbourne for 3 years as a child back in the 60s. In the 80s I used to travel to Alliance quite a lot. I loved it. There is quite a lot to do across the panhandle in the summer.
I’m from Alliance, and I’ve made this trip dozens and dozens of times. I both laughed and cried through this entire video. So much love for your adventurousness, and for showing my little small town in a nice light. ❤️💙🧡💛💜
Jennifer, you are one lucky girl. What a great spirit in your town, beautiful. We should all be so lucky! Maybe I will get to visit one day. Take good care.
I'm in Melbourne, Australia, where it's getting down almost to freezing this week. I'm trying to visit all 50 United States and I'm hard-pressed to think of a better way of checking off Nebraska! Thanks for the encouraging words Jennifer!
This is one of the most wholesome videos I’ve seen in the pandemic era - no politics, just a chap who enjoys aviation in the heartland of America, meeting friendly folk and genuine generosity. Heartwarming despite the bitter cold. Cheers!
Yeah, I miss days when you could meet people without them disparaging half the country within an hour of knowing them. I’m guilty of it, too. We all have such pre-conceived ideas of each other that we overlook our combined humanity.
😂 You were planning on walking 5 miles to your hotel in Nebraska, in the middle of the winter??? 🤣 Oh my god you are brave! Wow! That was so nice of that guy to give you a ride & so sweet of his uncle to give you a tour! I thought it was so cute that he wondered if you knew a “Bob & Carol” that he met from London in the 90’s 😂 You gotta love rural America lol.
Lol I loved the video but dude was tripping. No planned ride to or from hotel, didn't get winter clothes until the last minute (and even then was underdressed), and didn't book hotel online just hoped there'd be availability (in fairness hard to imagine those hotels ever fill up, but still, bold leaving that to chance in -20 degree weather). I would hope as a travel blogger with 250k subs he'd be more prepared lol... gotta stay safe out there!
@@Jomskylark as someone who travels a lot, I find myself in that situation too much. I live in the desert, spend lots of time in SE Asia and then completely forget about weather in Seattle or Detroit and show up with shorts in winter and go “oh yeah”.
The friendly guy who gave you a ride was my favorite part. Just the thought of you experiencing that culture shock: friendly American, Polaris as transportation, the gun in the center, the fact that the grandfather owns the hotel, the "are you Australian?!", etc. I was cracking up lol
If you're going to meet an English-speaker travelling somewhere because it's the least-used airport in the Lower 48, fair bet they'd be Aussie, I reckon. ;-)
@@yaush_the truth is, Nebraskans can teleport. Thats why alliance airport had no rental service. I am from Kansas, I see what witchcraft they do up there
As an ex-pat Brit (from London) living in Texas, I often get asked if I know someone called "Joe" from Liverpool who the person met in the 1990's when the questioner was over in the UK for vacation. Then I get the classic "Have you ever met the Queen?" I'll have some fun with that one "Oh yeah. My cuz Liz!" The smaller the town they come from the more likely they are to fall for it.
I'm from California I recently went on a 4,000 mile road trip I found the small cities in the middle of no where to be the nicest, I wanna move now lol I saw all of Nebraska to it's nice same with colorado
This is typical in rural, midwest America, I was raised in a similar sized town (in Kansas), I live now in a big city on the other side of the world, and this video made me think of how simple life is there.
WOW SOMEONE ACKNOWLEDGED US! I live in Alliance and let me tell you this place is tiny with very little to do. We have two dollar generals but no large stores like target or anything. If you need clothes or anything you're going to have to drive at least an hour in any direction to get somewhere that sells anything of good quality. The only touristy things weve got is carhenge and the central fountain which you couldnt see because of the snow but it's really nice. While it is small and theres not much to do what lots of people are saying is true - the community is fantastic. Everyone helps everyone and if you're ever down on your luck I know 100% for sure that there will be someone who will help
I live in Alliance! Thank you for showing the world how we are! We do get cold but this last winter, especially when you arrived here, was colder than most times. We love our car henge, we have excellent parks and museums, our coffee shops are unique and we have a ton of pagan people and shops. Also with us being a railway hub we have new people coming in constantly!
Ooh that's exciting. I'm more of a train nerd than a plane nerd (and I miss winters, my area stopped having winters in the past 10 years or so), and in general it sounds so interesting.
This is a very nice video. My favorite part of this video is how lovely the community were in Alliance. My heart really melted whenever I see this level of kindness. This is what I call an adventure. :)
And you know they enjoyed having a fun visitor from so far away come to their wonderful town. You can tell they really love their home and want to share that with everyone. After seeing this, if I find myself anywhere near Alliance, I will be sure to make the detour to see Carhenge and spend the night.
That's America for ya!! No matter what all the haters say! God Bless the United States of America, my country! I'm not someone you'd call "ethnically American", as I migrated to the country with my parents (both of whom are from India), when I was 6 years old. But that's the beauty of this amazing country, the greatest in the world! Oh, and btw, I was raised for a while in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and parts of Minnesota when I was a child. So I know all about cold, small towns, and the sheer community and friendliness they foster!!
@@747-pilot I'm sort of a chronic comments reader (don't usually boast about that) and there's an incredible amount of America hate. I'm certain there's a level of jealousy but also sure some or rather most is genuine unfortunately. Not so much political, just snide insults like if someone says something dumb "he must be an American". Then the general opinion that most of us are gun toting and if not criminal, still ignorant with itchy trigger fingers, looking for any excuse to open up on somebody! When I think of the people of America, the kind, hospitable and helpful folks we witnessed here in Alliance, Nebraska are what I think of as they are widespread and to be found in every town from sea to shining sea! I'm just so hoping some of those haters see this video!
it would have been even funnier if they had tracks installed on the Polaris :D Those are a lot of fun with wheels on, but with tracks you can go pretty much anywhere besides a pond or where the trees are so close together you can't turn easily :P
@@DWBurns they don't let people know when they poach :D (deer season is fall in most of USA, not winter) Besides, they're from Nebraska - you don't really get a lot of deer where there aren't many/any trees. :P (and I hate to say it but the entire western 2/3 of Nebraska goes from flat as a board to rolling hills, but very little vegetation besides farm fields)
@@chouseification Western Kansas is chock full of deer. Mostly mule deer but a fair number of white tail as well. The problem was (maybe still is?) so bad, not long ago it was a drawing for any deer tags (bucks), but you could get get multiple doe only tags per year. Western Kansas isn't exactly known for its vast forests. Mostly just wind breaks as a legacy from the dust bowl era. It doesn't take a lot of shelter for deer. What the western plains states do have is LOTS of food readily available. Winter wheat is always a tasty treat for herbivores.
Deep down the silent majority of the US are good people just living their lives and would help a stranger in a heartbeat. Don't let the media sensationalism and political mudslinging on Capitol Hill suggest otherwise. Love your videos and be safe out there!
That has always been my experience on my road trips across the States - never met anyone who wasn't anything but kind and polite and I long for the days we can just hop on a plane, pick up a rental car and hit the road to small town USA!
Absolutely ! As a european that lived age 3- 6 in Pontiac near Detroit in the early 80's, I just absolutely love roadtripping the rural US. Feels like coming home, people are always warm and friendly, and so proud to show you around if you are genuinly interested. I basically just live and work to go on yet another roadtrip and feel wholesome for a little while...
It was such a pleasure running into you on the DEN-AIA leg! It looks like you got the small town America experience out there with such nice people and it looks like you had a blast! Definitely one of my favorite videos you’ve done especially with the history of the town itself!
Noel. You have just beaten my favourite vlog of yours. Around the world in 80 hours. Today’s Alliance vlog is your best ever work. The people of Alliance are truly amazing. Thank you Noel for sharing this experience
This is probably the most wholesome video I’ve watched everyone was so helpful and nice. I think it would be amazing to live in a place where everyone knows each other and won’t hesitate to help newcomers and each other
My first assignment in my military career was in Nebraska. I grew up in southern California so it was quite a culture shock, not to mention the extreme change in weather. I didn't appreciate it at the time but watching your video brought back some fond memories.
I used to fly an essential air service route from Denver (Stapleton- yeah, I’m that old!) to Sydney, Alliance and Chadron and reverse. That was back in the ‘80’s with the long since defunct GP Express Airlines in Cessna 402’s. Not at all glamorous but, being my first airline job, I have fond memories of those days.
A lot of people slag the Americans. I’ve spent a lot of time in the US, in real towns, big and small. I doubt those people have ever met real Americans. I’ve always found them to be so polite, gracious, helpful and uber positive. I feel so welcome when I’m in the States. These people are so happy to open up and tell everything about themselves. If I could, I’d move there tomorrow! Ace video Noel.
So true! Folks will NEVER see true Americans on news and movies. We don’t fit their preconceived notions. Only by someone like Noel vlogging real people being real can you get a good glimpse of us. Pro tip for foreign travelers: find the local firehouse and/or firefighters and you’re guaranteed to find people just like the gentleman who made us all proud.
As an American thank you for your comments about us. We are good people here in the states despite the recent new stories in the past few years of the chaos. We welcome everyone who visits. Remember we are a nation of immigrants and our American people came from all corners of this world. Yes we may have our problems here with alot of different things, we aren't perfect by any means, but we are overall good people. Talk to us when your visiting get to know us.
I think this is one of my favorite videos of yours because it really showed what you can experience out in the world when you travel. It’s the reason I love to travel and to be a flight attendant because you meet the most amazing people in the most unexpected places!
I flew out of Alliance after a funeral and the lone TSA agent asked my family if we'd like drinks or a snack while we waited. Of course we initially declined, but when pressed, accepted the offer as is customary in small town America
Never thought I would see Alliance, NE mentioned on UA-cam! I am originally from Alliance, but moved to Lincoln around 8 years ago. I can confirm it does get incredibly cold. I can also confirm the people of Alliance are good and helpful people. Glad you had a great experience!
When I first moved from Ireland to the US, I lived in Sidney, Nebraska which is just south of Alliance. The people there welcomed me like I couldn't believe. Absolutely lovely people who would do anything for you. Glad to see the same hospitality was extended to you too.
I've only just started to watch your videos again recently as I've been so depressed about the problems of travelling over the past couple of years. I just came across this fantastic video. As others have said here, this is truly a heartwarming experience. The humanity and warmth of those people you met was just incredible and an inspiration for us all.
How sweet of your fellow passenger to give you a ride to your destination! You don't get many people like that, who offer a ride and are NOT dangerous. Looks like Alliance is aptly named, given the alliance you made 😊
You don't get people like that in big cities, but as someone who grew up in Chicago and moved to a VERY rural area, and has logged many thousands of miles on the road all over the US, I can say with confidence than the vast majority of people in the vast majority of small towns are incredibly friendly and helpful to visitors.
Omg this is by far my favorite vid yet. Rare aircraft, bad weather, really cool history, good samaritans in a dope ass 4x4 that most people would never even dream about seeing on the road (edit: with a huge gun, almost forgot lol), naive Brit once again walking around in a place where no one walks ever (don't worry, I know how it is), good food, and after all that somehow "Courtesy of the Red White and Blue" is still playing on the goddamn radio there despite that sentiment launching us into unending wars 20 fucking years ago. A great snapshot of rural America, and a great video. Thanks for doing what you do.
Re the " Do you know Bob & Carol" comments: To this gentleman from small town USA where everyone knows everyone else that to him when Noel says he lives just outside London ( where his friends came from) he is just imagining London as a small town as well so to him why woundn't Noel know them..... Yes a bit strange to us who know London as a big city but to him from small town middle America a totally plausible question considering he thought they lived in the same "town" & as Noel said the town of Alliance & people touched his heart:)
Yeah that was cute. I think it was an honest question not understanding London metro is well over 9 million people. It would have been funny if he just said yeah oh sure they live in the flat around the block lovely couple
Maybe if from time to time they ever picked up a book other than the Bible, they might have some basic general knowledge about London and other things.
@@johniii8147 He was just trying to find common ground or shared experience with a visitor. I am 100% certain he is well aware of London being a major metropolitan area with a population that made knowing these folks essentially impossible. It is you who didn't understand.
Noel: I have been binge watching your incredible, globe-hopping videos today (2/24/24) & I must say, this one is my absolute favorite! Being a Gulf Coast boy & resident of Houston from 1980 thru 2014, all that snow & the frigid temperatures gave me pause. However, the warmth provided by all those folks gave me hope for the resilience of my country in these very troubled times. Love what you do. Keep up the good work & best of luck in Houston! 💙
This is true. T-Bone and Pork Chop were engineers on the Burlington Northern. Like father, like son. Biggest thing in Alliance was the railroad, and at least for a while was the largest employer. Alliance got it's name from the fact that it was a junction of railroads from the north, south, and east. Original railroad was the Chicago, Burlington, and Quincy (iirc)
Been roughly two days with your channel and already followed you so many places...great to watch...and also how friendly and almost family-like people treated you ,even as complete stranger,is so great to see.
This is exactly why in my opinion your channel is streets ahead . Absolutely amazing content and a real pleasure watching this video in such an amazing place with lovely locals . Top top video 👍
This is a really great video! I live here in Alliance and actually work at the pizza hut that you see in the video. I was actually probably at work while this video was being recorded as I remember this weather lmao. Fantastic video! Keep up the good work!
I can’t believe Alliance has a Pizza Hut. For a chain pizza restaurant, it’s always been my favorite pizza place. Out here where I am on the east coast (CT), it seems like all the places where there used to be a Pizza Hut, they’ve all been vanishing for whatever reason, even though there seems to be plenty of “market”/population. And Alliance has one still open. Well, good for you all there :)
@@hounddog57 since the population is 8,000 but in the middle of nowhere, there’s probably little to no competition for Pizza Hut tbh. Not enough people with money to make any competition either by opening a pizza joint. Just what I’ve noticed living in very rural America lol you’ll find chain restaurants in the weirdest places
You have done me proud Nebraska. Like so many rural towns, Alliance is a victim of the times. It was, until recently a thriving community based on the railroad hub it used to be. What is left are the people, representatives of small town America; and for me my childhood and youth.
My most favorite video from Noel yet. Him reflecting on his experience in Alliance (28:33) indeed brought a tear to my eye. Very well said and I’m glad you received the hospitality that you did during your trip. That’s what traveling around the world is all about! Lovely upload.
Great to see you in Nebraska Noel. I was there as a foreign exchange student from the UK 50 years ago. There really is no place like Nebraska. They have the friendliest people in the world. That is where my interest in aviation started. There are many stories to tell but they are too long for here.
There has to be a German word to describe the feeling you have when leaving a place you fell in love with but you know for certain you are never coming back to. Great trip report!
This is truly one of the most awesome videos you've made that cold weather was no joke...What a contrast from a few weeks ago when you were here in Nairobi, Kenya. Thank you for the video and the small town was indeed so warm at heart it made me warm inside. You are indeed my favourite flight youtube channel.
This video is amazing! I thought I knew small towns and then this put the “small” in small towns. Just a local walking up to the airport counter asking the lady he knows if “Ricky” is on the flight. “Oh no that’s tomorrow” without even having to check the sheet. 😂
I absolutely love small towns and airports. I been to a few, and people there are unbelievable. I will never see them again, but every time I think about my work adventures and the people, it touches my heart. I used to fly around and fix jets.
I loved seeing the way all the people of Alliance looked out for Noel. I lived and worked in Pierre, South Dakota for about 9 months a long time ago. The way all the people in the northern plains region took care of each other and worked together has always stuck with me.
What an amazing, heartfelt video. Everyone was so nice and friendly and what a wonderful family. I was honestly quite sad when you had to leave. Really hope you get to go back one day.
You have evoked so many memories. I have flown on metroliners many times, mainly around regional South Australia where they still fly. The generosity of Americans in remote locations is priceless. And speaking of Bob and Carol, my dad once sold the front door of his shop in the Tottenham Court Road to an American named Lawrence because the 100 y.o. door was named Lawrence.
What a great group of folks in Alliance, NE! As much as we hear about how divided we are in the US - small town and big city - it is nice to see just downright lovely folks showing kindness to a visitor. Maybe if we all kept our hearts opened and left our politics at the door, we could reunited again and see one another as the human beings we all are. Do everything with kindness in your heart and a willingness to be loving and open. Thank you for posting this Noel. It means more right now than you could ever have imagined when you filmed it. Gives this liberal city dweller a uplifting boost when it is truly needed.
Honestly America is an incredible place. Small town America has some of the most humble and loving people you'll find anywhere in the world. Forget what you see on TV, this is where it's at.
What an awesome video Noel. Probably the best one you have made. Great to see the flights and the destination and what a real friendly bunch of guys in Alliance.
Thanks for sharing that Noel. I lived in Nebraska for 4 years... 12 years old to 16 years old... the years where you develop your work ethic as a young man.... no finer way to do that than in rural Nebraska. bailing hay, detassling corn, rogueing beans, breaking ice for hogs each morning, cutting and splitting firewood, mending fences, driving cattle in the spring and fall. my life is so completely different now and I've lived and visited a great many places throughout the earth.... but those years in Nebraska were an important part of my character building...
Wow such a heartwarming video, just what I needed after a long week, so lovely to see that such caring welcoming communities still exist these days, really restores your faith in people and makes me can’t wait to be able to get out travel again soon

Down here in Texas we have Southern hospitality, which is akin to the hospitality up there as well. I absolutely love that he had a great time. This video is awesome.
The main headquarters of the Gaylord hotel chain is in Nashville. If you ever swing through I highly recommend staying there if you can. The inside truly is like going to another world. They have indoor gardens and everything you can walk through. Even for locals it's always a treat to just take a night off and book a room there. Also it's right next door to the historic grand ole Opry house for country music.
Ah yeah for sure. I used to go up to hope, Maine where my ex gf and her family had a blueberry farm. I can def see some parallels between small town Maine and Nebraska.
Impressed by Zach casually strolling off the plane into the freezing cold temperatures while wearing....shorts! Wish I could be as oblivious as him to cold.
In a strange way I really see a lifelong friendship beginning with those lovely folks you met. You should definitely keep in touch and head back over perhaps in summer some time - seems like they’d be more than happy to have you!
The thing is....if he had been African American,Hispanic American,Asian American, would it have been different. Not a leftist democrat here,in fact from and born in Wyoming. I wish everybody was treated this way across our great nation.
It's neat seeing places that I see daily on youtube lol. I've been on that plane quite a few times, it's definitely an experience. I'm so glad it made a good impression!
Don't be surprised if you have one or two visitors inspired by this video. Carhenge looked kinda cool and an opportunity to go on a Metroliner would be fun. See y'all soon, from an Aussie in the UK.
I have watched your videos randomly for years. But this is the video that made me subscribe once it was uploaded. It just shows the kindness and care of the entire community.
Noel simply put, this is a gem! I love that the guys who gave you a ride are related to the hotel owner where you stayed. Who then gave you a tour of Alliance and was your Lyft driver. Of course he also knew the Airline staff and they knew all the Pax flying with them 😆

I thoroughly enjoyed watching this. It was heart warming to see how much the locals made you welcome. It was good to see you interacting with people. It would be nice to see more interaction with locals of the places you visit. I do though enjoy your videos regardless.
Years ago we had to land in Gladwin MI when weather forced my buddy and I to land in his small plane. It was around midnight, the airport was deserted so we called a local motel and explained our situation. The clerk sent her brother to pick us up and drove us back to the airport the next day. Nothing like small towns!
@@terryboyer1342This is also common in Australia because so many towns there are like this. My father had to take a business trip there to a plant and they sent a guy in an SUV to pick him up at the airport. Because of the huge time difference between Perth and Los Angeles, it was nearly the middle of the night. As they were driving, every so often, my dad heard a loud BANG! and asked his Aussie co worker "What the hell is that?!" He replied very casually "Oh, it's them rabbits, matey. They're bloody everywhere!" Apparently, when the country was being flooded with convicts from the UK, they also inadvertently brought rabbits who sneaked onto the ships. Once released, the Australians learned too late that nothing could be done to stop them. Shooting them didn't do anything (toooo much work!) The local dingos didn't like the taste of rabbits (LOL!). Insecticides and various other poisons had no effect. And worse, they bred like, well, rabbits! The population explosion never calmed down. The only thing they could do was surround their ranches with electrified fencing.
Surprised there's no shuttle service. Looking on google maps, there's like four hotels all within a couple blocks of each other. I'd imagine a shuttle serving all of the hotels could make decent $, especially if it included non-airport travel.

Rural American kindness doesn't make it into the news. But this is real and widespread.
In small towns you'll have a bad day if you don't treat people like you'd like to be treated. Karma comes around quicker.
If only that kindness extended to people who don't like Trump.
Random guy, walks up to another random guy he doesn't know, thinking "he looks out of place and probably lost" and says "Do you need a ride, or some help?" That is how people should treat each-other.

Looks lovely. Though I can't even imagine living in -30C. I'm from Australia and where I live the lowest temperature record is -1C (34F).
I hope you've shown the guys in Alliance this video? 😀
So lucky, Jennifer. People who care. ❤
This might be the friendliest town in America. Kudos to Alliance, Nebraska for being a place with amazing heart and hospitality!
This is one of the most wholesome videos I’ve seen in the pandemic era - no politics, just a chap who enjoys aviation in the heartland of America, meeting friendly folk and genuine generosity. Heartwarming despite the bitter cold. Cheers!
You said it, Jo. Heartwarming, exactly.
Yeah, I miss days when you could meet people without them disparaging half the country within an hour of knowing them. I’m guilty of it, too. We all have such pre-conceived ideas of each other that we overlook our combined humanity.
This is the city Tim Walz first taught high school lol
😂 You were planning on walking 5 miles to your hotel in Nebraska, in the middle of the winter??? 🤣 Oh my god you are brave! Wow! That was so nice of that guy to give you a ride & so sweet of his uncle to give you a tour! I thought it was so cute that he wondered if you knew a “Bob & Carol” that he met from London in the 90’s 😂 You gotta love rural America lol.
Actually, Zach was the brave one, wearing shorts!🤣
"Brave" is one word. It seems like he didn't plan as much as advertised.
If you're going to meet an English-speaker travelling somewhere because it's the least-used airport in the Lower 48, fair bet they'd be Aussie, I reckon. ;-)
Omg thé fact that the grandfather owns the hotel! I didn’t even realize that but was wondering why he was behind the counter; how he’d get there?
@@yaush_the truth is, Nebraskans can teleport. Thats why alliance airport had no rental service. I am from Kansas, I see what witchcraft they do up there
Bob and Carol 😂😂😂😂😂😂. How small did he think England is? That's made me chuckle 😂😂😂😂
Probably thought England same size as their town 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 know everyone

So true. Looked like a great community they've got going up there.
I'm from California I recently went on a 4,000 mile road trip I found the small cities in the middle of no where to be the nicest, I wanna move now lol I saw all of Nebraska to it's nice same with colorado
My thoughts exactly!
They literally have a gun in a back of there car
I bet the nuclear silo complexes out that way have DGs on them XD You know the meme.

DG - "Gonna get me sum of dat..."
What a cool town! I was sad when he was flying out.
Can you tell me what make and model the gun in the Polaris is?
"Pagan people"?? Is Carhenge a pagan monument?
Don’t wanna be mean but according to Wikipedia the town is losing hundreds every census since the 1980s. Why is this? It seems like a lovely town
This is a very nice video. My favorite part of this video is how lovely the community were in Alliance. My heart really melted whenever I see this level of kindness. This is what I call an adventure. :)
Couldn't agree more! Such a lovely community there.
This was really a heart melting video. What nice people. Mid western Americans are wonderful people.
You know you're in rural America when you get a ride from the airport in a 4 wheeled utility vehicle with a gun rack
it would have been even funnier if they had tracks installed on the Polaris :D
Those are a lot of fun with wheels on, but with tracks you can go pretty much anywhere besides a pond or where the trees are so close together you can't turn easily :P
To have made his experience truly complete to rural America they needed a freshly killed deer in the back of the sport utility golf cart.
And the driver is family with the owner of the hotel, and another family member who gives you a tour of the town, and drives you back to the airport.

This has been one of my favourite videos that you’ve done. It felt like a little mini adventure right from the comfort of my living room.
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@noelphilips Noel, I’ve seen most of your vids and this one is still my favorite. Love all of them but man really liked the hospitality in this one
Deep down the silent majority of the US are good people just living their lives and would help a stranger in a heartbeat. Don't let the media sensationalism and political mudslinging on Capitol Hill suggest otherwise. Love your videos and be safe out there!
Agreed, its easy to tar everybody with the same brush on both sides, the vast majority are decent kind people.

Glad you enjoyed it!
I'd second that comment. Around the World in 80hrs was my favourite and this probably is now
This is probably the most wholesome video I’ve watched everyone was so helpful and nice. I think it would be amazing to live in a place where everyone knows each other and won’t hesitate to help newcomers and each other

Lived in alliance from 1979 to 1984
Great place, great people. Loved out time there, with the BN RR, Sorta bitter sweet to watch and see the ole home, flew out several times. ❤
Yup. I have been lucky enough to travel to 30 states from Australia and they are the most hospitable and helpful people.
So true! Folks will NEVER see true Americans on news and movies. We don’t fit their preconceived notions. Only by someone like Noel vlogging real people being real can you get a good glimpse of us. Sounds like it was a lovely trip. The community spirit like in alliance is exactly what we need right now.

Looks like Alliance is aptly named, given the alliance you made 😊
Not only that, he met his uncle who sorted him out for a lift back to the airport and the tour
He's helping out his uncle at the same time as he's helping out a stranger.
I hitchhiked in Europe and America in the 90s, as a young backpacker. It was easy and met some nice people.
You don't get people like that in big cities, but as someone who grew up in Chicago and moved to a VERY rural area, and has logged many thousands of miles on the road all over the US, I can say with confidence than the vast majority of people in the vast majority of small towns are incredibly friendly and helpful to visitors.
The vast majority of people who offer rides aren't dangerous and really just do want to help. It's only a small group who are nefarious
Yeah that was cute. I think it was an honest question not understanding London metro is well over 9 million people. It would have been funny if he just said yeah oh sure they live in the flat around the block lovely couple

This is true. T-Bone and Pork Chop were engineers on the Burlington Northern. Like father, like son. Biggest thing in Alliance was the railroad, and at least for a while was the largest employer. Impressed by Zach casually strolling off the plane into the freezing cold temperatures while wearing....shorts! Wish I could be as oblivious as him to cold.
In a strange way I really see a lifelong friendship beginning with those lovely folks you met. You should definitely keep in touch and head back over perhaps in summer some time - seems like they’d be more than happy to have you!
agreed, they can show you how to run a combine harvester, take you deer hunting and then go for a skinny dip in the creek!
Small town America is the REAL 'merica. Absolutely enjoyed every moment of this man 👌🏻
Cities are the real America.
@@themoviedealers Once you get out of the cities and experience rural America you'll realize how beautiful and vast it is
@@themoviedealers We don't consider them America
The thing is....if he had been African American,Hispanic American,Asian American, would it have been different. Not a leftist democrat here,in fact from and born in Wyoming.
I wish everybody was treated this way across our great nation.
cities are just as American as small towns
It's neat seeing places that I see daily on youtube lol. I've been on that plane quite a few times, it's definitely an experience. Sam and Louie's was a good choice, we don't really have much to choose from here sadly. It's not much, but it's home. Thank you so much for visiting our small little town! I'm so glad it made a good impression!
Don't be surprised if you have one or two visitors inspired by this video. Carhenge looked kinda cool and an opportunity to go on a Metroliner would be fun. See y'all soon, from an Aussie in the UK.
What a truly welcoming community. Your life is richer meeting people like that.
I have watched your videos randomly for years. But this is the video that made me subscribe once it was uploaded. It just shows the kindness and care of the entire community.
Without a doubt the best video!
Im keeping my fingers crossed you do a mini series visiting more small towns in USA.
Noel simply put, this is a gem! I love that the guys who gave you a ride are related to the hotel owner where you stayed. Who then gave you a tour of Alliance and was your Lyft driver. Of course he also knew the Airline staff and they knew all the Pax flying with them 😆
I am very happy to have watched this.
Bravo Alliance, Nebraska.
Noel what a trip of a life time. This is why you go out and travel. There is so much to see, learn and grow from. The people in Alliance are lovely and so kind. What an amazing experience. One of your best videos and this is why I watch you all the time for stories like this. Thanks for bringing this community to our attention. Now the world knows about Alliance. 👏
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this. It was heart warming to see how much the locals made you welcome. It was good to see you interacting with people. It would be nice to see more interaction with locals of the places you visit. I do though enjoy your videos regardless.
Thank you so much!
"He can call the airport and they can come and get him" *mind blown*
@@largol33t1 Lol! Well, better to hit a rabbit than a kangaroo I imagine. Btw, I've had grilled roo a couple times. Very tasty!
Surprised there's no shuttle service. Looking on google maps, there's like four hotels all within a couple blocks of each other. I'd imagine a shuttle serving all of the hotels could make decent $, especially if it included non-airport travel.
